Wait a second, what? How is the music guy making games before me, that's what I've been trying to do since you started making music. I gotta get it together. Glad to see you're still gonna be around :)
Welcome to world of indie game devs. Many things you experienced is completly normal. From the new project excitement to feeling progressive, get bored with prototype and spice things up with visual/sound, sailing to unknow territories where you learn new things (game dev is a never ending learning btw :)), faceing problems, problemsolving and overcome them like you did with save system, thru bashing your head to wall over a stupid bug all day only to realize you can ask for help and get easy solution (or direction where you need to research) to solve the bug in seconds, let others playtest (because you as a dev over familiar with the game and your opinion is biased), experience negative feedback and self-doubt to finally get to the top of the mountain and release the game and smile in joy watching others playing and HAVING FUN with the game you made is just such a journey that few of us could experience. Dayum, this was a long sentence. Also honorable mention that you surprisingly didn't experienced 'scope creep' and could stay focused on remain small or ar least you didn't mentioned this. Also, get insight how much work required for such a simple game. People VERY MUCH underestimate how hard to make a game. So, MMORPG when?
Thank you for the comment, bro! I wish I had talked more about scope creep, because it was something I actively worked on avoiding. Working on another game dev video, so I’ll see if I can get that in there 😎
Hell yeah Dillon welcome to the world of game dev! i participated in a game jam last weekend where we made game in 2 days and the theme was "unexpected resource" so i made a golf game where you can use anything you see as a club. So fun events. 10/10 would love to see more game stuff from you
This isnso good man! Super enjoyable and really informative. This deserves the tastiest floor burger 🍔 I cant wait for my favorite UA-camr MrHewbz to review the game!
Well done on finishing your first game! It looks great. Seeing game maker 8 was a big hit of nostalgia for me. That's when I first started making games. Do you think you'll make more?
Thanks bro! And yes! I'm currently working on a Godot video about a course I followed, and after that I will jump into another game making challenge with that editor :)
Tile mapping had me completely mind blown at first. It just didn't make sense in my head how it all comes together. But after a while you will start clicking it
Your ability to always captivate us with whatever project you got going on is something you can be proud of. Also, congratulations on this cool achievement. I wish nothing but success for you 💙🙏
@@btp1654 Thank you so much! I’m happy you’re finding it engaging. That was a big deal for me to make something that felt fun to keep doing, even if mildly enraging at times 😂
I am happy you finish it, that is the harder part so good job. Keep making them, it does get a bit harder before it gets easier but is worth it.

Appreciate you bro! Make a game and I’ll play it😏
Dylan uploading again was not in my 2024 Bingo card but I’m all here for it.

Lots of ups and downs, you was feeling it now mr.krabs by day 11 😢
I need that small violin tbh😂
This honestly has me motivated to try getting into game development myself. You got a link to the engine?
@@PixelGemini Of course, Pixel! You can use it for free (with heavy limitations) to try before you consider snagging a sub: www.construct.net/en
The games pretty good, but having jump on the up arrow kinda hurts my hand. Could it be changed to x or space on the keyboard maybe? 😅
Not a bad idea! I’ll add space as a jump option on the next update 😎
@@iamsleepy hell ye, thanks man. Love the editing of the video btw, if you made more content like this I'd definitely tune in.
What game engine are you using
I used Construct 3 for this game :)
