So awesome guys! I grew up in Toronto, in 1980 I was 15, and had been fascinated by the TTC from the first time I rode it in 1972. The time of these films is right in my nostalgic wheelhouse, so thanks for giving me some warm fuzzy feelings
Thanks for the amazing comment. I’m really happy you enjoyed the film. I have more to post when I can get them scanned - in the meantime I run an Instagram account called old_ttc which I post lots of old photos, film and videos. If you’re on Instagram definitely check it out!
This just popped up on my recommended list! Really enjoyed it! I have lived in Toronto my whole life, so have ridden every model of subway car! I did not remember the 4 car sets of the H1-H5, but do remember 4 car sets of the G's. With the G's, 4 car sets only ran on Sundays. No, I cannot imagine 4 car sets today, would be super crowded now!!
Seeing the mixed H1-H5 sets was very interesting. Didn't know they ever did that. I wonder why they did it. Also 4 car sets on line 1 nowadays would be impossible lol
Yes that certainly shows you how much the system has grown over the years. A 4 car train would be packed! Thanks for stopping by and the comment. Really appreciate it! 🤙🏻
very informative video on the Toronto subway system. did not know Hawker-Siddley made subway trains...planes yes😉 Thank you for sharing your vintage reels, in video format❤❤
Bruh, those H5s are shiny like the T1 Cars in the mid-90s. I wonder how a mixed trainset like the H1/H5 we've seen would've sounded like? Probably more "H5 heavy" at least from the platform position. I wasn't even born yet when TTC practiced 4-Car Trainsets in the 80s & even if they still did them after 1990, I probably wasn't riding the subway enough to experience that, except for Line 3 but that'll soon be history. Chances are the new Ontario Line might do 4-Car Trainsets.
I wish this film had sound, it would be cool to hear what they sounded like working together. Unfortunately it was a silent film so we put on some music so it wouldn’t sound too awkward. I can’t imagine 4 car sets on Yonge today. That just shows you how much Toronto and the TTC has grown over the years. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Thank you J&N! We are well, we were just on Sky Princess a month or so ago and heading off on Discovery Princess in a month. It’s nice to have travel back again. I hope you’re well?

Nice. I remember that era well. I loved the Gloucesters best. Also, I wish they didn't get rid of the original 1950s mint green vitrolite tiles at Davisville. I hate the brown crap that's been on since just after this was filmed.
Oh? Interesting. It seems to work on my end and others that double checked for me before releasing said the sound was good. Not sure what the issue could be.
Love that David Williams was able to film the TTC all those years ago and you were able to obtain them.
Thanks guys! Was so happy to come across these!

Welcome! Im glad you found this video and that it brought back some great memories!! Yes 4 cars wouldn’t work so well today.

Quite impossible with the TRs lol

like how you contrasted the old with the new at the end!
It’s really cool to see the “then and now” and how things have changed 😊. Thanks for watching!
Pretty cool stuff! Can’t imagine 4 car trains on the YUS or Bloor Danforth lines today.

The Sheppard Line runs 4-car sets lol, used to be T1s, now they're little TRs.
@@rockstopsthetraffic you're right I totally forgot about that because I don't take Line 4
@@lvalledor3440 I've taken it maybe twice ever lol
Just to let everyone know, I've driven every train TTC has put out except the G trains.
And I’ve had the pleasure of riding the trains you’ve driven!! 🤟🏼
Always enjoy the trains. How are you guys doing?🐸
Thank you J&N!

so the subway is on 2022.
My favorite is the h4&h5
Lots of memories riding those?
Those H5s look a lot like t1s!
Kind of similar 😃

The subway use to have a smell to it. Now it’s gone lol it was probably the trains.
This is true! I believe the trains themselves had a unique smell.
I know the teaser on Insta was supposed to not have sound. But on here, I don't even hear your voice. 🤔
Video was superb though. 👌🏾
Oh, nevermind. I had a technical blip. I hear you now loud and clear.

@@TheDMacxExpress Phew!! Haha I was thinking what happened to the sound 😂😂. Glad you got it to work!
@@TheDMacxExpress Thank you! 👍🏼👍🏼
