When I bought this particular Renault Clio V6 Phase 2 in May, it was a car with damage across the entirety of the bodywork, it hadn't been started in years let alone drive, and needed everything you could think of. 354 of the 1,309 Phase 2 cars started in the UK, and mine was a Black-Gold car to begin with, but I always fancied the Acid Yellow colour - of which there were only 8 to begin with, and only 6 of those are believed to be surviving.
However, it needed work, and a lot of it. From the regular things like an oil change service, new battery and cambelt change, all the way through to plenty of parts that were wearing, needed replacement and also adding some unique touches to make it a very personal car. My first ever car aged 17 was a Renault Clio of this generation, albeit a 1.2l 70bhp example rather than the flagship 3.0l V6 mid-engine pocket rocket that we've now got in the collection.
There are countless partners who have made this project possible; a huge thanks goes to SG Motorsport Services for all of their help with the mechanical upgrades, Godlemans for the colour changes transformation outside and in, Topaz Detailing who fitted Paint Protection Film, Dub Trim who upgraded the interior parts, Quicksilver for the exhaust, KW for the V3 Coilover set, Michelin for tyres, Whoops for wheel refurb, and the list just goes on. We will be covering the entire upgrades in full detail over on @TheShmuseum channel, but for the first drive I wanted to bring you along with me for the complete experience!
Thanks for watching, Tim

😄
It is interesting how the character of the car changed after the engine was installed in the trunk
why not just get a lotus evora gt, argueably sound sbetter than c8 z06 corvette , proper circular sand communicative steering wheel, better looks....
Shmee150 Awesome Video I'm so glad your Renault Clio V6 Project is finally done and I think it sounds absolutely incredible and looks absolutely incredible in the Shmuseum
Yes
It's great to see you finally drive this car! Watching the progress on how it went from the black car in a bit of a sorry state to it being probably one of the cleanest ones on the road right now was so interesting! I'd love to see a video comparing this (basically the top of the range Mk2 Clio) against your other Clio (the base model) and compare how different the two different models are!
Sounds like a plan
Now this is how you bring a car back to life and what an amazing car it is. I did not even know this car existed. Thank you for sharing. Well done and congrats!
Very unique, very quirky and something we never see in the United States. Thanks, Tim, and thanks to the Shmuseum team for coordinating everything.
The colour has really grown own me. Hope to see more projects. Congrats Tim.
It's really bold but I love it
I love how you seem to get as much enjoyment out of a Renault Clio as you do your supercars. Great vid.
It’s great that you can appreciate a car from ‘04 in the same way you can appreciate the Zenvo, you’re a true driving enthusiast!
I really wasn't sure about the colour change, but damn it works, congratulations Tim you've done very well, Rj in Oz
AMAZING!!😮 YOU SHOULD 100% get clear engine cover then paint the rocker cover to match the car❤️❤️
100% should happen
I was thinking a carbon affect cover, with the renualt sport v6 picked out in body colour.
Congrats Tim such an awesome car, I have loved watching the restoration project on the other channel!! Can’t wait to see more content with it to come, maybe some track days?
Fantastic!
Exactly the stuff you should be doing and keeping. Proper classic
Surprisingly, this machine is as exciting as any super car collection day! There is something about seeing a project progress like this. I hope you add more "classics" to the collection.
We sure will
Looks incredible!! Enjoyed the entire process, if you can please do more builds like these. I enjoy the fact you get all these companies involved too, great seeing it done!
Love your builds and the behind the scenes with @theshmuseum makes it even better!
Thank you!
I really like watching your teams process on building this car. It's a fun thing to do and you've done it complete!! Many just do a bit here and there, but this was done nicely! Enjoy it!!
I love these type of transformations...keeping intrinsically valuable vehicles up and running. This is more interesting for me than super cars.Good stuff guys 🤜🤛
Stunning little car, love the idea of OEM+ so it still looks stock. Great idea of having a "project car" thats not a supercar. Hope to see other projects like this giving older cars a new lease of life . Well done to you and your team 👍
I hope you dont end up selling it after two drives later like the red focus
So cool! My friends dad had an Iliad blue 05 when he worked for Renault, so this is brining back some good memories!
congrats to you. love cant wait to see more, have loved the build process on both channels.
Amazing to see you finally getting to drive it! My first car was a Clio and have had a couple since!
Great choice for the colour and 100% correct on the wheel colour!
I still don’t loose my dream of them putting a drift set up in the V6 with the hydraulic handbrake and drift suspension.
The spec on this is one of the best in the collection 👌 Acid yellow with those silver wheels and the side vents blends so well.
Sounds amazing, thank you for sharing Tim highly appreciated ❤️👏🏽
I would never have chosen that colour, but from the first time i saw it painted i had to admit that it looks badass. The bright colour makes the bonkers design pop. I hope it doesn't kill you..and that it'll deliver more fun than what you've paid to make it happen. ..oh and: The numberplate is a beautiful thing. I like that you're hounering the OG Clio that way.
Very nice to see these kind of builds of iconic cars. Hope you get some more so the guys from the shmuseum stay entertained.
Tim mentioned using EBC Redstuff brake pads, and likely EBC rotors as well. I can vouch for these as the best aftermarket brakes I have ever used. I bought EBC slotted, and drilled rotors, but used EBC Yellowstuff because they recommended Redstuff for racing, but I bet they are even better at stopping than my Yellowstuff pads. These brakes are awesome, but with racing around the streets of California, they lasted but a year before needing new rotors, and pads. However, I really was abusing these pads like only 1% of us do. Regular driving you should at least get normal range, but far superior braking. I'm not sure why Tim went for just the slotted cheaper rotors, but they should be fine for regular street driving as I highly doubt Tim will use them as I did. 😁😎👍✌
Great that you’ve reinvigorated this and returned it back to the road. Nice save 👍😊
You can have all the exotics in the world but this is a regular car enthusiasts car for the people and its beautiful
Probably one of my favorite cars in the collection now. Can’t wait to see you take it on a road trip.
Car looks stunningly great! The moment you were gonna take the front plate off, the carl looked so amazing in that color surrounded by all the other cars... just wow
Great video, brings back fond memories of my first Clio, a 1.2 16 v dynamique, now just waiting to pick up my new Clio r/s line hybrid on Friday, can’t wait to see a Nurburgring trip, love the colour as well.
Looks superb under the Shmuseum lights, great job!
Brillant addition beautifully done. Please do more like this with older icon cars.
Cute Clio V6, has a mean grumble out the dual exhaust, nice color and beautiful rims
This has been one of my favorite series on the channel! I love the supercars but I love seeing Shmee get a classic and restore/build it to Shmee Spec. Cheeeeeeeeers!
Looks great. I hope with all the work that went into this car that it will be part of your permanent collection.
Single wiper conversion would look sweet ! looks fantastic hope to see some trips and good sound and better cameras to see and hear the experience, well done like the adding of modern classics keep buying more, Escort Cosworth would look fab next to the GT40.
That looks and sounds amazing it's absolutely beautiful.
Epic transformation, hot hatches are my guilty pleasure. I’m fully electric now and await my next car. The Smart #1 Brabus 428 HP 543 Nm torque 0-62 in 3.9 seconds. 😁
Looks mega!!! Love the colour! For me personally I would have colour coded the side pods and painted the wheels satin black.
Wow, looks superb now all back together and fits in perfect with all its skittle brothers!!
dont know if its just me but this is my favourite car from your collection, I love what youve done with it and i hope its as fun to drive as it looks! This car is very close to my heart i drive a similar yellow c2 vts which is like the clio v6 little brother!
Amazing looking Clio!
Please take a look at the Throphy rear spolier. Look’s awesome on the Clio V6👌
So much better! It looks that you can add a 5mm spacer easily in the front wheels too! Maybe you can do something with the center console...paint it acid yellow or cover it with alcantara? The same with the air outlets on the dashboard. Also, think of something to spice up the door cards too! Wonderful car!
Amazing car Shmee, great modifications. I recommend going for a black alcantara roof lining as a next modification.
It is proper, proper cool! Can’t wait to see your next project car. This needs to be a keeper
I had a 2001 mk1 v6. Bloody great fun, bought it in 2003, should have kept it!! Only paid 20k then. Sounded nicer driving with engine cover off. Biggest head turning car I’ve ever had. Lovely to see a mk2 this nice. Great job
Great Job on the Clio guys!! Looks awesome, sounds awesome. Can’t wait to see this thing go around the ring. Maybe let Misha take it in hand and see what it’s capable of.
Nice one Tim. I own #46 in Illiad Blue. Enjoyed the series. I’d also encourage you to fit the Recaro Pole Positions like you have in Merc as the driving. Position as OEM isn’t great. The exhaust drones like hell, most people sell the QS Pretty quick. Enjoy!
If I’m honest hot hatches are not my thing, I’m a V-8 muscle car person. That said, I must give props when they’re due. Your little labor of love here really turned out spectacularly!! It would be a killer canyon runner here in the states and I’m sure equally so on your British B-Roads!
Very nice work & impressive you’ve gone into the details with a good deal of knowledge!
love this car - awesome look and stunning sound😍👌
Classy Tim, pure class. Great spec, perfect, no bling, all roar and class. Well done.
😂
The car looks soooo good Tim absolutely nailed it! Brilliant idea doing these sort of cars bringing them back to there best/ better than new ! There are so many of cars similar to this sort of age range and meby bit older that would be so good to have a retro section in the garage , ford RS's , Vauxhall GTE's/SRI's, Golf GTI's or Corrado the MG's meastro or metro turbo basically the hot hatches from 80's 90's & 2000's its been really good watching the resto progress 👍 hope you do more and end up with a retro section in the garage! Thankyou for all your hard work Tim your vids are 2nd to none!!!!!!👍👍👍
Looks amazing! Fun fact: phase 1 of these were actually built in Uddevalla, Sweden by TWR.
Was unsure about the colour at first but I think I’m in love now, possibly my favourite shmee car, (clio was my first car too) only thing I’d do to that now is black alcantara headliner and A pillars. The headliners in clios feel very cheap.
Yup. Love it.
Silver wheels look sick!
This Clio and your GT4's have been your best builds in my opinion..
All great drivers cars
Red focus RS?
Perfect car to do it with
That colour was my favourite on the XR6 also. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
I used to have a Clio 182 of the same vintage, and that was absolutely god tier to drive. Can only imagine how much fun this is going to be. Enjoy!
What a lovely car that clio is, especially in that colour with those wheels. Excellent project series to watch from start to finish.
Great transformation!! As our friend Tavarish would say "OEM Plus!"
Dude this color is beautiful ‼️ looking forward to seeing more of this small beauty 💯
I've only ever seen one of these on UK roads and that was in a hedge good luck Tim 👍
Cool idea for you scrap clio, make it into a table put the original plates on each side think it would awesome addition to the garage
Awesome! This really is one of my favorite Shmeemobiles! Can´t wait for it to be taken to the Nürburgring! :D
Great job, it might seem odd to your usual demographic, but this is one of my favourites from your collection.
Make sure you keep it. One of the best & most interesting cars in your collection now!
It is a lovely build and an amazing colour choice, they are excellent cars.
I tried so so hard to buy one the instant it was released when I was living in Cornwall but unfortunately was not able to get one so instead I went for the 182 and boy they are so fun, I was actually lucky enough to drive one several times as a friend had one I can say now that you are going to love it and definitely have fun.
I think that you should try and get a 182 and back to back test to see what the difference is, I would love to see that.
Oh I don't mean buy the 182 that's pointless now you have the daddy.
I really liked following the Clio build on both channels👌
It's just gorgeous! Congratulations. I find a car like this much more exciting than a supercar; it's relatively attainable, you can use most of its power on public roads, and it's not so sophisticated that you can't work on it yourself. Really cool. Everyone always has a soft spot for their first car.
This is the best looking hothatch you can get, plus in acid yellow ? 😍😍😍 hope this will be a long term keeping 🤤🤤
What a cool little car! I love the variety (and color!) Of your collection! I'm looking forward to the adventures with this one!
I can't believe how good it sounds. One of, if not the, nicest sounding donks in your collection.
This car is so nice. Silver wheels and accessories is THE perfect choice. Well done!!
Looks incredible Tim congratulations I love the Clio v6 especially in this colour
That acid yellow under the lights is absolutely insane. What a car and so worth the wait. Amazing car
Very cool! As nice as the colour is, I think a Williams Renault FW14-B livery would have looked even better with a "red 5" in-between the numbers 1 & 0.
That's quite a personal taste but this definitely fits the V6
Congratulations Tim, remember our convo RE plate 😉
How about Shmuseum inlays in the headrests.
Always loved this car and a kudos to you for bringing this to the channel!
Interesting little run about. It's proper. It's not a lorry. You won't get boonswoggled. It's a cracking good bugger.
I do have a proper soft spot for a Mk2 Clio V6, even if it wouldn't see which way a 172/182 went on a b road
I wish these were sold in the 🇺🇸 back in the day I wanted one soo bad this car is super NICEEEE!!!
Looks great, and well worth the hard work. RY04 needed this. Well done Scott @ SGM
Silver wheels for the win, I used to be a big black wheel fanboy, but now that I’ve gotten older I’ve greatly appreciated silver, chrome, and lighter colored wheels… but still forever love mag blue and bronze wheels
Love that car, well done on the restoration 👍👍👍👍
What a car! Can't wait to see more cars of that type. Maybe one day we'll see a Delta Integrale Evo 2 in your garage!
I actually love the color, thanks for not messing up this one up Tim
For me this is one the best Shmee cars right now. So unique, so beautiful.
Beautiful thing, a future classic.
I'm not mad on the silver quarter air intakes if I'm honest, the sister car on the other ramp has a cleaner more classy look with the body coloured option, but hey, it's subjective...
Black or carbon maybe..
Great car either way.
Nice vid to boot :)
Loving the Clio V6 Content so far. Looking forward to what you are going to do with it, especially a Nürburgring Lap.
Is this a Keeper, permanent Shmeemobile ? It should be.
I think it should be really
Great work on the Clio V6, it's a well deserved restoration...
Nice, never driven one but always thought they looked mental. Just need an original Clio Williams now
1:08 to 1:19 Schmee you remember Jim Trott from the vicar of Dibley, yeah that's me right now going no no no no no at your statement, the V6 in the middle makes perfect sense as this is a throwback to the rally cars of old, the mid engined hatchbacks of group 4 and Group B, the monsters of the 80s, the best of the best of the best, a proper rally car for the road.
IT MAKES ABSOLUTE PERFECT SENSE, its a mid engined supercar road car rally monster in the same vein as those and it aims to give you Porsche 914 type practicality ontop of it, where you have two boots and plenty of space to actually use the thing.
its Genius! proper french genius in the same Vein as the DS and the SM
It's good to see an older collectors car being brought into the collection and really being given a new lease of life. And spot on with the silver wheels.
Btw, I'm intrigued about the hints given a few videos ago about another Lamborghini possibly joining the collection...?
Time will tell
@@Shmee150 urus? Mmmm
Nice car and good to see it rescued. I looked at a few of these about 12 years ago but bought something much better. As nice as the Clio V6 looks, its never a £100K driving experience...
Oh Yes, I was really excited to see this One! its perfect!
7 Acid yellow Clio V6 at UK and 2nd on lift at same workshop ;)
But amazing job and color!
