How Britain looted India? - The sad story of British colonialism

Studies have showed that India had the largest economy on the planet for 1700 of the past 2000 years. From 1st Century to 11th Century, India had a 32 percent share of global GDP. During the second millennium, Islamic invasions disrupted economic activity, and India yielded the top spot to China. Still, India’s share remained at 24 percent between 1000 CE and 1700 CE. But By 1947, when India became Independent, the country’s GDP comprised around only 3% of the global economy. Various studies have deduced that Britain drew out a total of $45 trillion from India during 200 years of colonial rule, which more than 17 times the current GDP of the UK. One can easily understand why British colonists referred to India as the jewel of the Crown.

British destroyed three thousand years of 'racial motivated apartheid' in India? Seriously. Please read more about India's caste system before saying so. Its was never racial nor even despotic in its original sense. Yes, people used it to exploit a section of society but that's with every civilization on earth including British. If India had caste system, British society had class system, serfdom and more. If British colonists worked against social evils in India it was not because of love and care for Indian people, it was only to create a working atmosphere where their govt can continue their exploitation peacefully. Caste system exists in India till today
