J7 vs. 77 only difference is on 5c (Or 7c if we don’t have it) rivers against a flush draw for villain getting there to a second best hand that was drawing. I think the equity boost for villain against 2 pair instead of a set is when villain has an over pair with a draw, then 6 extra outs, and similar scenarios like a pair and draw with trip and higher 2 pair outs.

Haven't seen a video explanation of a hand, like this, since Galfond use to release videos made on Full Tilt.

I understand that running it twice doesn't change the math in the long run, but when foldind and continuing are about the same ev does it change the decision either way if you know your opponet will run it twice?

I feel like we can find a better hand to analyze. I didn’t even watch the full video and I know we are never ever folding here.

In the first few minutes of this video you talk about the villian having a capped range .... but then you spend the second half of the vid talking about him having the nuts (JJ) how can he have a capped range but still have the nuts in his range ?

Excellent question and fair to request additional clarification. Our opponent is *largely* capped on brick turns because, at equilibrium, he’ll bet the vast majority of his strong made hands on the flop. There are occasional combos that are so strong that they generate more value in a check back line on the flop - in this spot about 15% of his flopped top-set combos. JJ with the ace of clubs is a near-pure flop check-back. JJ5 and JJ2 should also check back a fair bit. These combos generate more value in the check line largely because they generate too many folds when they bet the flop. While these distinctions are usually not particularly relevant with such wide ranges on the turn, in this specific instance, since ranges are narrowing so much, they become meaningful.

Chris Wehner the term capped range v elite opponents does not apply in modern poker. Plays are made based on frequencies, not just EV, with a chunk % of value in every spot in order to be balanced. So just because they checked back the flop doesn’t mean they’re capped most of the time 🙄.

bro wut? im not sure a 3 hr video could convince me to play a turned set any different.. i joined Upswing because Doug was playing NL HE.. so what is the focus of upswing now? PLO? NL HE? black friday sales? we're all really here because of Doug not this 13 minute long video of the minute differences in percentages of playing two different hands??
which brings me to say i'm upset that we're all still wondering what happened with Postle. Of course Doug isn't the only person involved with the channel but Doug was making videos every day for 2 weeks about Postle. I played with some idiot from Northern Europe today that was lightweight defending Postle and I'm tired of not of having any resolution. It's like every person ever that was commentating on the case decided to stop. This story ran on espn for cryin out loud. How come not one clear story has emerged? this leaves Doug in a place where he's eventually going to come out and say ok look here's what happened, or he's going to completely forget about it??

Upswing's focus is on poker strategy -- all game types. We have free content and premium courses for NLH cash, NLH tournaments, Short Deck, mixed games, and more.
Chris showed the comparison between 77 and J7 to demonstrate a point. (By the way, the conclusion was that 77 is a higher frequency continue than J7 -- J7 just has an interesting and important upside that 77 doesn't.)
As far as the Postle thing goes, the story has grinded to a bit of a halt since litigation began. There was recently an article about how he's been holding up in his house, but until the lawsuit moves further, the public won't know many details of what's going on.
