HARMAN Professional Solutions has announced the JBL PRX900 Series of portable loudspeakers and subwoofers. These speakers are targeted for use by DJs and bands as well as music venues, rental facilities, houses of worship, and corporate A/V providers
Designed for rugged indoor and outdoor use this product line features advanced acoustics, comprehensive DSP, enhanced power performance, and complete BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) control via the JBL Pro Connect app (iOS, Android).
The PRX900 Series includes three powered two-way loudspeakers (PRX908, PRX912, PRX915) and two powered subwoofers (PRX915XLF, PRX918XLF). JBL has built these products from the ground up to include several advanced acoustic innovations.
The PRX900 series include proprietary drivers powered by Class D amplifiers designed to maintain clarity and definition even at maximum volume, along with improved dispersion and beam width and smooth low-frequency extension.
For controls, the PRX900 Series incorporates an onboard system with an LCD display on the rear panel of the speakers and subwoofers, as well as control access through the JBL Pro Connect app.
The PRX900 Series incorporates rigid composite cabinet construction with computer-modeled ribbing to enhance acoustic performance and durability. In addition, the subwoofers are housed in 18mm birch cabinets with strong bracing for deep low-frequency response.
To put it simply, the PRX900 series speakers are ready for the road if needed. These speakers are a great solution for DJs, bands, music venues, and temporary rented facilities.

Got my pair of PRX918XLF subs today, and tried them out tonight. They sounded fantastic - but the crossovers don't function on the outputs - only low-pass for the subs. My tops were getting all the lows while connected to the outputs of the PRX918XLF, with the crossover engaged and set to 80hz. This is weird because my PRX618s-XLF subs actually crossover the outputs as well when the crossover is engaged, so my tops don't have to have all the low frequencies. I sent JBL a message expressing my concern. With all the DSP power in the PRX918xlf - why can't they give you a fully functioning crossover, like the much simpler PRX618s-xlf has?

i could be wrong, but in the manual you are supposed to feed your mixer to the speakers, and then out of the speakers into the sub. Try and let me know

@@djresqvideomix But then you're sending full range to the tops, which the bass will burn them up if they don't have high-pass filter crossover in them. Previous generations of the PRX subs had the high-pass filter option on the outputs, so you wouldn't burn out your top speakers. This new series does not. Sneaky for JBL to omit something that a lot of us are used to. I own 12 powered tops with no high-pass filter in them, so I have to rely on an external crossover now.

ps, did you update the firmware? Maybe they add it afterwards? Did you reach out to JBL? What did they say? I have highpass on the PRX so that wont bother me, but i totally hear where you are coming from @@davebrownentertainment7191

In terms of spl, this 900 series seems a step down from the previous 800. Is that so, or has JBL decided to be more realistic with its spl rating?

I'm guessing you lose SPL when going from wood to a plastic enclosure

Think the 18” will have improved loads & new driver 4” vc helps it

My PRX918XLF subs seem to pound just as good as my PRX618s-XLF subs (if not better). So... I dunno.
