I don't get why people hate on him. On so many of his videos there's people saying lots of shite...I think he's definitely in time. And he knows he overplays. There's such thing as having fun and experimenting and you can see his passion in that.
TheNadakan Well, first of all, his drums sound terrible. It's probably not the quality of the kit he plays on, but the mixing. Second, he is technically quite limited. I mean, look at the cover of the same song by Troy Wright. He also "overplays", but it's not annoying. It's interesting and groovy. Cooper has too many of the same fills, it sounds messy.
iPhownedyou Ah I see. Thank you for this :) I'm not a drummer so I don't know the technicalities. Perhaps he is more famous for his crazy passion because I don't think I've seen a drummer on UA-cam who is so wild when they play! I'll have a look at Troy Wright. I did get the feeling that he was a bit over the place at times when compared with listening to other drummers, I must admit.
TheNadakan No probs! Are you starting with drums? Take a look at Cobus or Luke Holland as well, they're really great.
iPhownedyou Actually I think your comment is a little bit .. well, bad-placed. You're right about the Troy Wright thing, but Troy's sound is better because 1. He seems to have the better equip and 2. It seems like Troy practiced it exactly the way he plays it in the video. Like Cobus does. Coming to your statement that Connors Play is limited, who knows ? He plays the way it just comes up to him. Great ideas included. Doesn't mean he can't do it better next time.
Also Cobus and Troy are one of a kind. Excellent drummers, there are only a few better internet-personalities out there, hard call to compare all drummers with them ;).
Not Fan-Girling here, just try to give you maybe another point of view.
(Also a lot of Connors Fills are also used by Cobus)

Troy is super technical with his drumming of this song. You have an amazing groove to it. Each cover is amazing in its own way. This is definitely one of my favorite covers that you have done.

It's been really interesting to watch your growth and constant improvement as a musician from your earliest videos to now. This is one of my favourite covers you've done even though in many ways. Even though it is a simple track I found your playing both tasteful and interesting, a good balance of the two; it was also super entertaining. Keep it up, you are a massive inspiration to many!

Metallica has some pretty hardcore songs on the guitar/voice side modifying the drums would cause an overload of sounds. What I want to say is that genres like that, very aggressive that is, don't leave much room for artistic expression. And let's face it, we all love Casey for his improvs and the new sound he brings to a song.

I totally agree... everyone says he's awesome but in most of his videos the covers are at best ok... people are feeding his ego(which you can tell he ha from his other videos) when people need yo him what he needs to improve on, isn't that the point of uploading these videos to UA-cam?
Exactly personal growth is a MUST. If you say one wrong thing about their God of a drummer people flip shit. My drum teacher kicks my ass left and right. He's a pro but you don't see me making a video about him training me? This kid loves the attention. And they all forget, helloooo, they are COVERS, NOT actual work made from scratch. They are already in time and placed together for the fills to work and fit. There is a huge difference when it comes to being a musician and making things yourself from scratch. He's becoming a cover boy like Meytal or Cobus. None of them really have the ability to produce amazing grooves without copying others works. Cause they can't. I honestly got sick of doing covers. It's a waste of time when I could be making original music with my band, which I do now. And most of these UA-cam drum gods play shitty mainstream music to get the views. Say I'm wrong but I am calling out the facts. I've watched all of them for a very long time. And ironically all of them but him play shitty DW kits haha. I think they have a thing for UA-cam cover boys and girls.
