Space Engineers: Holiday Update - Small Grid Windows & Large Grid Open Cockpit

- Hello, Engineers!
We would like to celebrate the Holidays with all of you, our players, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or any other holiday during this festive season.
Today’s release is a special one, because we are bringing you a number of “presents”. The first one, the Small Window blocks have been requested by many players, so we decided to add them to the game. There are 20 small window block variations in total, so I’m sure you’ll unleash your creativity even more now.
Another one is the Large Open Cockpit, which has also been super popular with our community. This cockpit is an addition to already existing seats, but again, we listened to our community and we decided to give it to you as a Christmas present.
Finally, we are adding additional catwalk variants into the Deco Pack 2 DLC so they look good in even more situations. This upgrade is free for everyone who already owns the Deco Pack 2.

@@WulfgarOpenthroat I mean, jesus, same reaction. I stopped playing SE like.. five years ago, and back then i used mods to have small windows. And it's just getting put in? What other issues do we still have? Pistons exploding? Shoddy first person animations which make people sick?

Small Grid windows is a game changer for sure. The next step is doors or something that can make it airtight without the Clanginess of piston-merge-block doors.
Also, is it normal for pistons and rotors to cause flying ships to tilt and cause weird stuff? A bug? It’s bothersome, I can’t make ships when extending landing gear or folding wings or ramps without it making it nearly impossible to fly safely.
Did you even flyed one of them? They use to explode while the building stage...
The comic is GORGEOUS. Love the artstyle, and the characters seem interesting too.
Finally, small ship windows.... We need more small ship variant pieces, I wanna make a small ship gone large without mods.... Please add more!!! Also when is the release date of the comic?
I still think some things should be large grid only, what I what is more thing that are just for small grids
@@SirAroace I agree... Personally I think the jump drive should be large ship only which would create the need to make large carrier ships for planet to planet travel.
Well. The ships still needing to be Big so they are more weack as well as cheap. I dont see.the problem in making small grid variants of all blocks

Small grid windows? Never thought I would see this day come. Now add those hinges and we are golden :)
This game only needs 2 more things to be the best sandbox game in existence.
1. A dynamic enemy to fight against. Space-based, and planetary. Somewhat along the lines of Empyrion's alien races.
2. More weapons for ships and the character.
Pleeeaaase add those 2 things into the game and I wouldn't need to play anything else anymore ;)

@@XxLegionPLxX Bullshit, the weapons update is the last remaining point on the official todo list that Marek mentioned during the survival update stream. And they delivered every other point on that list. So it's extremely unlikely that they will skip the last one. As for dynamic enemies. There are no plans to implement them unfortunately

It's funny how SE getting official ACTUAL lore, story and setting is far more exciting than ANY new block.
Just a shame the lore and story isn't in the actual fucking game.
We are only one year after release and only few years after early access on steam, and we already have small ship window blocks everyone!
At this rate I might suggest that probably permanent level water will come just in a next decade and physical water will come only few decades later. Stay tuned.

That's old news, they're just adding one more thing to it. In this case, I'd say it's a good thing, although not agreeing with some of the original decisions, such as there not being vanilla equivalents.
game + all dlc is still cheaper than most games ive seen, below €26

That's not going to happen it's coming out for Xbox they're working on it but it won't come out for PS4 maybe you should invest in Xbox it is the better console after all.

Do you have any large optimizations planned? If not, could you focus a bit more on that. I really want to play this game a lot more, but it can easily get frustrating when it starts lagging/stuttering. Keep up the good work!
you talking about multiplayer? then its needed. otherwise, my 7 year old computer runs it fine even with multiple ships, stations, satelites, and scripts running, while having 20 or so mods
Erik Lindgren Yeah. In multiplayer it’s needed the most, but sometimes it lags while on a planet. But that could be cause I’m using many large mods.

Because that kind of breaks the immersion, but I would say you should have to build some fairly expensive Machine to do it, so that this becomes more of an endgame thing. Number one request from me would be to add the different build modes to survival (line,plane, single block), but cap how many blocks can be placed at once.

update to the core game and adding content to an existing dlc also (more catwalk blocks for the dlc)
Loved the video and the easter egg in the open cockpit. Ive recently got back to playing this game (took a 3 year break) and love everything about it! (Racked up 30 hrs in the past 2 days) Keep up the great work and praise Klang!

Now all the ships on the workshop with that small grid window mod gotta be rebuilt LOL. I always think it’s kind of nice when a mod that adds something that should be in a game already ends up getting added and becoming redundant. In a weird sort of way.
New to SE, I wanna buy it and support it, but I'm not sure about something, are players put on one server? Or official servers like ARK? if so whats the max player amount??

We expect to release Space Engineers on Xbox this year.
I think we need more guns. Like railguns and impact cannons, lasers and all the high-tech annihilation stuff.

All these updates are great and all, but the game needs more kind of enemies, waves of enemies, NPC factions to help and fight
There are a lot of things I could suggest for a new update, most of the things you have heard and are already planning, and while there is nothing wrong with looking like Marek Rosa, I'd like to have a character customizer and enemy NPCs, not just drones. That'd be fun to me.
This'll allow us to make better small ships instead of using the preexisting cockpits, this is great.
I not so patiently await Space Engineers release on Xbox one.
That being said when I eventually get myself a good gaming PC I will get Space Engineers on that my plan is to have it on both I just wonder which will be first...

Where are the real changes? I don't see any ,just things that has been done by modders much earlier. And now you want us to pay for some decorative packs? Should have focused on space engineers the first places without trying to get into too many projects to begin with like the complete failure medieval engineers.
Not gonna lie, even though all the bugs and crashes and the lag I often experience in Space Engineers, it still has a great community, great developers and great gameplay with my friends :D
