Colin McRae Rally. That brings good memories. Imo it's still one of the best compromise between arcade and simulator game. I absolutely loved S2, but let's be honest, that game is very arcade like. Then there's the mentioned Richard Burns game, which is fabulous, especially with mods, but absolutely ruthless indeed without steering wheel and pedals. But the CMR. It's the first game which has that perfect feel of momentum and mass. Sure there's bit that feel that needle is poked through the roof and car turns on that axis, but because of that momentum and mass, it just works. It's also remarkable as mentioned in video, it's just as good fun with keyboard as it can be with controller or steering wheel. Colin McRae self was excellent rally driver and was known to take huge risks in rallies. One of those guys that delivered or crashed and crashed badly many times. It's quite ironical and sad that he died in copter crash. There's plenty of crashes where he could've easily died if things had gone bit differently. RIP Colin.

Nice Video. I own a few Colin Games, but my favourite rally game is Xpand Rally. Do you know that? It's from 2004 and I played it a lot. Even my girlfriend wanted to play it 🤣

Essas fitas uma vez ficaram presas no meu carro na versao PS2 e eu fiquei 15 minutos a ver a repetiçao apenas dessa parte. Eu estava em choque com tamanho feito tecnico. Nao queria acreditar. Era a cena mais espectacular que tinha visto num videojogo ate á altura: fitas de delimitaçao de estrada presa num carro de rally...........
Great video, some great touches in here that when you think about it, must have taken ages to put together. I really like Codemasters, I respect that they have a passion for one thing and they just keep on trying to get better at it. Contrast this with an also very talented group in Team17 and all they've done since those early years is re-release the same games over and over on mobile or just adding some lame addition and calling it new. Team17 ran into hard times financially I believe and I'm not surprised. Codemasters go from strength to strength. Not every game is a big hit but when you see their track record, it's very impressive how far they've come. BTW I have to say the first Colin McRae game was my favourite. It's primitive now but its the only one I played over and over and would keep coming back months and years after its first release. I find it harder to get interested in the new games. They are fun for a while, I appreciate the engine and then I tend not to play them again heh.
I also love the very first CMR. I believe that it was the one there I spent the most time with! :) DiRT 2 is my favorite from the "DiRT years" and DiRT Rally is another league, a true painful and dirty simulator! Love it for that! I enjoyed it to the point I now plan to start collecting at least the very first entires in the series, which I (I know it's a pretty huge lack, since I'm from your same age and times) I never actually played. Is it safe to go for PAL McRae 1 and 2 on the original PlayStation, right? I mean, it should be just like WRC, as in they're games developed with 50hz in mind
What a great show Pedro! I agree with everything you said, and all your reasons. I also want to play the real Rally courses, and so the WRC games are more interesting than the simulators. But I had a lot of fun with V-Rally 2 on the PS1, and its a big improvement over the original. They are harder to master by rewarding once you can nail it, and they are more like On Rails driving games. V-Rally 2 is better in every way, and the cars have good grip. Colin 1 and 2 were very good but Colin 3 has to be the best for handling and overall gameplay, even if the graphics are basic compared to today. Interesting you mention Flatout, a game I only just discovered a few weeks ago. Its very addictive and I made it up to the final track in the game, with full upgrades, but just cant beat it. Its a massively flawed game with annoying bugs but I love it. But I bought Dirt 3 after never played Dirt 1 or 2, and it put me off the series big time. Dirt 3 is a bad game in every way, and no fun even with the wheel and pedals, with most of the game based on stunts and tricks, which I hated.

Love that game! :) DiRT 2 is still my favorite, and, like you said, DiRT 3 was a disapointment, with only the introduction of weather effects that were missing from the previous DiRT titles. I almost missed this review, so will check out your FlatOut for sure! Maybe I did see it but didnt have the software to emulate it at that time, I've only been going through PS2 games recently, so only just discovered Burnout 3, Katamari, FlatOut, Motorstorm Arctic Edge, and RollCage. I call it Fall Out, because thats all I seem to be doing sometimes. Yes its good to discover these games and find gems of the past.
Sometimes better! - sometimes worse! I use PCSX2 V1.5 (beta) and they are improving it each week, but still not perfect. In software mode everything runs like a PS2 but it requires a good CPU like i7 or better. In hardware mode, this really takes the pressure off the CPU and uses the GPU. In this mode you can x3 the graphics textures and make PS2 games look as good as on a PC! - so no more blockys, no more jaggy lines! Unfortunately, it takes a lot of understanding of the settings and GUI to get the very best out of it, and this takes a bit of trial and error to tweak shadows and fonts etc, so it looks right. 50% of games work and look great, 50% dont. Unfortunately, Flatout is one of the games which currently refuses to use hardware, and so I play it in software mode, which actually looks good on my hi-def screen. WRC Evolved works, but sometimes if you crash, the game crashes, so you have to abort the Rally and go to the next one. Perhaps check out my top 10 favourite and greatest games of all time, on my Lifeschools Reviews channel. (Rally Evolved didnt make it, but its in the trailer on LemonTubeAmiga :)

O Screamer Rally foi o 3º jogo da franquia criada pela Milestone, franquia essa iniciada em 1995 com o primeiríssimo Screamer, depois o Screamer 2 em 1996 e, finalmente, o Screamer Rally em 1997. O Screamer 4x4, que tenho a versão Big Box e será um dos jogos que irei analisar no futuro, foi desenvolvido e publicado por outras empresas (Clever's / Virgin) e lançado em 2000. Apenas partilha a palavra "Screamer" no título, nada mais. Todos eles foram grandes vícios! :) Em relação ao DiRT Rally, é mesmo como dizes. Apesar de não ter experimentado a versão consola, no PC também joguei com o comando da 360, só para tirar as dúvidas ;) Realmente só se consegue tirar proveito total do jogo com volante e pedais. Já o DiRT 4, mesmo em modo PRO, joga-se perfeitamente bem com o comando da 360 ;) Grande abraço! Obrigado uma vez mais!
Toca Touring Car, 1 e 2... adorei esses jogos... é graças a esses jogos que adoro corridas de carros de turismo... por acaso tenho mais memoria do Colin Mcrae 1 que do 2... o 3 os danos, os pneus furados e o detalhe na altura deixaram-me maravilhado... O jogo 04 foi talvez o que tenha jogado mais, horas e horas a jogar na caserna nos meus tempos de tropa na PS2, o 2005 saiu numa altura cheia de trabalho e mudanças o que fez com que tempo para jogar fosse pouco... o lançamento do Dirt foi mau, fartava-me de jogar e no meu aniversario recebi a má prenda do falecimento do meu ícone, porém o jogo estava fabuloso, obrigou-me a fazer um upgrade ao pc de propósito para poder jogar e desfrutar dos lindos gráficos... Dirt 2 e o "Dakar Style" foi excelente e algo que adorei também mas andar a partir esferovite foi algo que detestei... Americanices... o Dirt 3 foi um jogo muito bom, acabei-o duas vezes mas a Gymkhana já foi mais uma vez um caminho para a americanice que não gostei nada... showdown lol... tenho mas acho que joguei uns minutos apenas lol... Dirt Rally que dizer... excelente... Dirt 4 ficou um pouco à quem, mas é muito bom e jogo mas parece um jogo incompleto, faz falta os "clubes" para maior iteração mas o Rallycross é excelente... Uma franshise excelente que também sou muito fã... Parabéns que video

I love Dirt 2, one of my favourite driving games ever. The variety in gameplay and the handling engine is perfect for an arcade racer. It's a shame the series has lost its way a little, I recently picked up Dirt 4 and while not a bad game it's just not that interesting.
It's a Pixel THING yea, although I recently bought a wheel, both ways work for me just as well. Also, if I'm gonna be honest, rbr almost seems like it's made to play with a gamepad even though it's very realistic

Americanices... o Dirt 3 foi um jogo muito bom, acabei-o duas vezes mas a Gymkhana já foi mais uma vez um caminho para a americanice que não gostei nada... showdown lol... tenho mas acho que joguei uns minutos apenas lol... Dirt Rally que dizer... excelente... Dirt 4 ficou um pouco à quem, mas é muito bom e jogo mas parece um jogo incompleto, faz falta os "clubes" para maior iteração mas o Rallycross é excelente... Uma franshise excelente que também sou muito fã... Parabéns que video

I love Dirt 2, one of my favourite driving games ever. The variety in gameplay and the handling engine is perfect for an arcade racer. It's a shame the series has lost its way a little, I recently picked up Dirt 4 and while not a bad game it's just not that interesting.

It's a Pixel THING yea, although I recently bought a wheel, both ways work for me just as well. Also, if I'm gonna be honest, rbr almost seems like it's made to play with a gamepad even though it's very realistic

Sim, é bastante difícil! Como disse no vídeo, é o "Dark Souls" dos jogos de rally! Aliás, tal como o velhinho Richard Burns Rally ;)
