They are very old platform. So, I doubt they will have the required electronic sensors like the fly-by-wire systems. So, it won't make sense economically.
It's an achievement if you know what went with this system. Forces had dropped this program due to issues and were looking for imports but we worked on it from structural level and now it's ready for replacing kirans. That's an achievement for not giving up.
Development of any aircraft platform takes such a desperately long time. Anyway what is important are programs reaching their logical conclusions because ultimately self reliance is what's most important.
Thanks for the update. The slipped dates of this much simpler a/c are a forewarning to us regarding the dates being committed for Tejas Mkii, TEDBF, AMCA, etc. which I feel are over optimistic. Hopefully I will be proved wrong.
If IJT is going to replace Kiran form 2016, shouldn't it be ordered this year? I heard all trials including spin trials are complete and with only weapon system certifications pending. That can run in parallel while production facilities are being set up.
@@hrushikeshavachat900 Kaveri can run trials on smaller jets ... Instead of fitting it only on Ghatak... Jet engines have to go thru life cycles and what better method of testing than using it in real time training. Since India built the engine ...they should show confidence in deploying it .
@@joshuacherian6718 We can and will show confidence in it. But It needs to make sense economically also. Here it won't make sense. Going for HTFE-25 or HTFE-40 makes more sense than Kaveri
Sir I feel HAL is now overburdened with various projects it is making Fighter Planes, Helis, UAVs , Trainer Aircrafts, Engines , Repair and Overhaul and what not, dont you think there is a need to disintegrate it into divisions and each division to partner with Private players to reduce timelines, what is your opinion
That's what the government tried to do when it acquired 36 Rafales in fly away condition. By bringing in Reliance, the government was trying to reduce the burden on HAL and create a private player who could maintain the aircraft. However, everyone knows what happened. The HAL employees went on strike, and the opposition parties took full benefit of the situation. Though we claim to be a mixed economy, in reality, India is a socialist economy that allows private companies to operate to a certain level. So, it will be hard to implement.7
If retiring trainer change into unmanned vehicle.its very useful for our IAF.

I'm sorry to inform that no manufacturing is taking place in HAL Koraput, its almost scrapped.
Hearing that since long, but none produced till now, several decades to make a IJT,what an achievement.

They can use kaveri engine and test it ..
Nope.
1. It doesn't make sense economically.
2. Kaveri will be too powerful for IJT.
