Recently I've been shopping "pre-loved" (such a flowery term that we use for USED) in the contemporary market - welcome to my budget. I've gotten several beautiful Coach bags at a fraction of the cost - allowing me a larger variety of bags. Don't see myself ever coveting an LV. Dior yup.
I’d like to add another reason why I personally am leaning away from luxury bags. I feel a little weird wearing my luxury bags. There are so many super fakes out there, I feel like people are looking at me thinking I’m wearing a replica. (I know this is my problem, not theirs, but it’s enough to make me feel uncomfortable.) I’m tending to wear more contemporary bags, or vintage Coach. Plus I don’t feel like I have to baby my bags because these contemporary brands aren’t costing me thousands of dollars. I’m still keeping my luxury bags and occasionally wear them, but the cost per wear is ridiculously high, because they spend way more time on a shelf than on my arm. I think I’ve just transitioned to liking good quality contemporary or off-brand bags instead of the standout logo designer bags. But that’s just me.
The judgement issue is interesting...lots of people have their luxuries, such as expensive watches, jewelry, coin collections, cars, boats, vacations, etc, but don't hesitate to judge others for their fashion luxuries.
Agreed Autumn! The last point about judgement is starting to weigh on me. I notice the looks I receive when I'm in certain areas. Yet, when I visit the city, I see so many around that nobody cares what my bag is! I think location plays a factor 🤔
I am over the price increases, at this point I couldn't care less. They are going to keep doing it and that's fine because why fret over things we can't control. I am happy with my TB and Coach bags and to me they are luxurious. I will keep buying but not as many or as often, plus I have a good collection so that helps! You got a steal on that Gucci bag!
For retail, honestly, if I have to buy, I’m sticking to Saint Laurent and Gucci outlet, where pricing is still reasonable and I can have the “boutique experience”.
I purchased a snakeskin Lanvin flap bag for $650 on Rebag. Its beautiful. I purchased my vintage Chanel flap about 6 years ago for under $2000 from Fashionphile. I'm amazed at the deals I've found. Great video 😊
My mantra is that my bags must be beautiful AND useful. My collection is modest , LV key pouch, Chanel WOC plus others like Proenza Schouler, Givenchy. I use these pieces regularly and love them the more from being such elegant workhorses
All great points Autumn! I would also add that you've achieved that elusive purse peace which is a contentment with your current collection. I hope to get there eventually! xoxo
Great video! I love the few high end bags I have and am extremely careful when I use them. Someday hopefully I can pass them onto my granddaughters🙏🏼. I do have to say…I’m in the camp of using a less expensive crossbody bag when traveling overseas. 🙂
Thank you for this information. This was a very interesting video. I only have one LV bag with vachetta. I sprayed the vachetta with apple guard spray which I purchased from Amazon. Apple guard spray really does a great job. I never have a problem purchasing my bags because I have sales associates for each store I shop in. I will never have a Hermes bag because I will not play games when I am spending my money. I have had friends who have shopped on pre loved markets and have received fake bags or have been scammed.
I love my designer bags but I have had theses conversations with myself 😂. Then like today I scored an amazing LV bag for a steal and feel totally vindicated 😉
The only things that have stopped me from buying certain bags have been the price or concerns about quality. And when I consider price, it’s either something way out of my budget, or a bag that I feel isn’t worth the asking price. I think that it’s a good thing to have at least one reason to keep you in check, so to speak, or we would all be in a shelter somewhere with nothing but handbags. 😢
Hello! I want to thank you so much! Yesterday night I watched a video where you shared that Coach has a bag that is very similar to the Hermès Evelyn. I love that bag, and I refuse to pay the Hermès price for it. I live in Brazil and I am able to buy excellent quality locally produced bags, but not one that has the Evelyn style. Fortunatelly, we have Coach here! And it was on sale! I bought it for a fraction of the Hermès price, in a dream color! All because of the information you shared. Thank you so much!!! ❤❤❤
Hey Autumn ! I’ve been watching your videos for a few years already and I just wanted to say keep up the good content ! I fell in love with the very simple and raw content !
Totally agree but my main problem is some bag that I have eyes on also have many super fake one that is very hard to tell the different and when you look on the website even the well known one, the price is close to the real bag. I think this is one of the reason people are willing to pay brand new price because they get the bag direct from the store.
Great video, I can agree with most reasons mentioned, yet still I‘m stupid enough, to still purchase luxury bags 😂 - but I really noticed myself, that I start to loose some joy about it, because of decreasing qualit, combined with increasing prices.
The only one that I would consider - a Birkin. Hermes or Birkin brands hold their value. With their insane price tag(s), they better. There are men who are now purchasing these bags. I love the Gucci ostrich bag!
I started buying the small crossbody bags luxury bags. To keep out of the line light of what I'm carrying. Also there are so many Faux bags thieves are backing away from snatching them...
I just found your channel and I am really enjoying watching it! I have wanted a Louis Vuitton handbag since I discovered them when I was 19. I was never able to splurge on one even pre-owned. My husband just got me my very first one for our 16th wedding anniversary. It is a like new, Totally pm in damier ebene. I love it😍❤ I love all of your handbags!
I love luxury handbags even if I am staying home I still change out my bags daily because I love to look at them Me idc what they say. Love you girl and your yoda and Winnie b crack me up thanks for the interdiction take care your Chanel is top notch!!!!!!🤩🥳🦄
Loved this video-I’ve seen so many of these exact comments on luxury bag videos, but never seen anyone address them. Good job Autumn-love your channel!
I live in Stockholm, one of the wealthiest citys in Europe, and I live in a part of town were the rich live. The son of the owner of Acne ( the fashion brand) was in my daughters class. You see Porsches, Koenigsegg, Teslas everywhere. But no luxury bags. I almost never see those here. And I always notice peoples bags. I find that really weird. In Paris though, they are everywhere.
Great video! I bought the same LV Speedy 25 Azur from LV and the bag was damaged and apparently a returned bag. I have 5 bags some new some preloved. I enjoy using my bags!!
7:41 Here I would say just be honest and others will be as well. I have a gucci bag that was of limited availability, maybe it’s a special what not, I really couldn’t care less. The point is: it was never on display, I had to ask the SA. And sure enough, after asking about it for a while and explaining which bag it is, why I like it etc - they had it. Just don’t obsess if they are not willing to sell you something, it doesn’t really matter and you don’t really need to shop somewhere where you don’t feel comfortable.
I have luxury debt and it’s not a great feeling 😂 I’ve learned now luxury bags are meaningless to me. I would rather have financial security as my main priority. To each their own. I think I would be happy with one Chanel bag and I’m done. The rest would be contemporary in my collection.
I really enjoy looking at my (mor than a few) Hermès and Louis Vuitton bags, all purchased “Pre-loved.” They have been fun to collect. So why am I schlepping around with a black Longchamp le pliage neo literally every day for 4 years now? LOL! After a while you get to know yourself…!
Oh Autumn! I agree with you so much!!! I recently bought the LV Graceful PM and the vachetta tab in the front got stained with hand sanitizer. And now I don’t feel like using the bag at all 😒I’m scared. I wish I knew how to get past this.
Yes I can agree with being targeted by thieves in certain areas/countries. I mean either way, if I know I’m going to an area that I don’t want to “stand out” that I’m clearly wearing an expensive handbag/clothes shoes- of course ppl can assume that my bag is full of cash too 😂 and therefore I am potentially putting myself at risk/as a target to be attacked/mugged which (thankfully) has never happened to me before- but that’s not something that is necessary in your hands if a bad person has decided to rob you or your bag! I mean the trauma/potential injuries alone to me it I can assume to anyone would be worse than just a “materialistic handbag” being stolen in my opinion! Defo a good point to bring up as I’m unsure if it is spoken about enough! The last time I went overseas on a trip to the Philippines (from Australia pre pandemic) I didn’t bring any of my “designer” bags and was happy I didn’t as I already stood out to the local ppl as a “white “ rich blonde lady assuming I lead this amazing life and don’t have to work/save etc and think I’m a millionaire while I’m on this “lux” holiday in their country! The local ppl were very nice and soon understood when myself and my friends explained from a percentage of income point of view how much I have to spend to work/live/holiday in Australia. Of course when you convert the money over to theirs I seem rich but that’s just for a holiday- it’s not sustainable real life 😆 . Anyway I can agree with all of the 8 points you have made in this video 👏🏻 I’m a shoe/handbag person and a collector at heart, so now that I have the designer bags/shoes etc I don’t want to not have them! But of course if a day came to it that I needed the money I wouldn’t have an issue parting with materialistic items over not paying my bills, mortgage and health care!
Great video! I love my three large and one medium Longchamp le pliage cuir bags, two of which are older (2012). This is as luxury as I am ever likely to go…although I saw a large red leather Gucci tote with a gold and jeweled lion on the front, t.j.Maxx for $1,999 (in store $1,799), I’d love to have…way out of my reach, though. Anyway, thanks for the video!
A lot of people are jealous I turn my bag around so they don’t see the Chanel logo. I am a little nervous about carrying them. And my Louie Vuitton I have no choice. Depends on were I am going Prices are ridiculous. I will not be buying new
The reason the prices go up is because of the insane resale prices. Why would a company sell a bag for less than what it costs second hand? I will never understand how a Neverfull pouch costs up to 900$ (depending on model) and people are buying it
That’s why I hate wearing luxury brands because make an assumption about you. People don’t understand that I save money on not getting mani and pedi monthly. I also resell my clothes that I don’t wear. Point is, I hate when people judge. I never judge people about their handbags, I just admire 😍
Autumn Beckman Your video was very informative for me hope you get a good check from UA-cam to be able to splurge on nice bags you want have a nice day
I love exotics and often you can get real leathers off ebay I have a few snake skin bags I bought for 50 dollars they all tend to be a clutch type bag, but snakes aren't all that huge. I get more judgements when folks realize it is real snakeskin. I love youe jackie bag do you wear it often?

I all sold out. Thanks.
first comment!! Regarding the second comment about theft, I wear my crossbody bags under a coat for extra safety so that I can easily zip it up (and people can’t even see the bag) and because it would be much more difficult to be stolen from if the bag is under a coat. Also I would love to hear you talk about the LV Buci. I just recently bought one and would love your thoughts! I’ve been a long time viewer of your channel and like you I’m very conscious about my spending. I just went to Paris and because LV is cheaper in Paris + the VAT refund I saved $900 on the Buci and $1100 on the neverfull! Crazy to think I paid about $1550 for the Buci new from the flagship where in the US you can barely get a pochette with that price. I just unboxed them and went over the prices and would love if you took a look. ❤️
*I think this pandemic has taught people the importance of multiple streams of income, unfortunately having a job doesn't mean security rather having different investments is the real deal.*
All valid! I’m definitely feeling pushed out and looking more at preloved these days. Every time I get the “Oh so expensive you can buy so much elevar”, I like to reply “no one bata an eye at fancy electronics and my bag will still be there, with a good chunk of its value while electronics will be in the trash. My #1 pet peeve comment: “I don’t buy expensive/materialistic things. I seek experiences”. B**ch, was your flight and ‘gram outfit FREE?! Ugh! Also, who said it has to be an either Or situation?! /// end rant 😜
Her.mes game lol these companies make me laugh. It's nothing but material things that won't last forever. Hermes , LV and all the others can kiss my butt.

You’re so well spoken and yes I love a luxury hand bag too and admire those that carry them.
Idk how to spell vechetta but it’s a beautiful thing to embrace!!!!
For retail, honestly, if I have to buy, I’m sticking to Saint Laurent and Gucci outlet, where pricing is still reasonable and I can have the “boutique experience”.
Yes! I love buying preloved bags and now search the preloved market before considering purchasing new .

Valid points Autumn 😊❤️📸

Interesting and fair points. I'm too deep into luxury I can't stop🤣 I'm addicted.
The only things that have stopped me from buying certain bags have been the price or concerns about quality. Great video. People judging 🧐 are probably jealous. You're right, you have to ignore them. They don't understand quality. You do you. Go girl! ❤️❤️❤️🤗
Hey Autumn ! I’ve been watching your videos for a few years already and I just wanted to say keep up the good content ! I fell in love with the very simple and raw content !
I just received a lv neverfull pm pre loved I agree with you. I do think it’s better quality than my 2021 neverfull mm. The neverfull pm is a 2007.
Oh and a secret is Synthrapol it takes out dye transfer
Love this…you never disappoint Autumn! ♥️♥️♥️🙋🏼♀️

Could not agree more with ALL of your reasons!!! Hence why I’ve gotten over my luxury handbag obsession and have gone back to my fav Brahmin.
Great video, I can agree with most reasons mentioned, yet still I‘m stupid enough, to still purchase luxury bags 😂 - but I really noticed myself, that I start to loose some joy about it, because of decreasing qualit, combined with increasing prices.

It's funny how I agree with every single one of these reasons (well, most of them) but still will continue to love and buy these luxury bags 😀
Autumn bags are just bags, luxe or not they all carry our bits ‘n’ pieces in. Best wishes from Adelaide; South Australia🇦🇺💐

You are so right I have seen some gorgeous crocodile bags by many different brands. So tempting

Incredible deal on the ostrich bag🤗🦋🖤🦋🦇
Re the vachetta, the tab on my pochette metis near the lock got some dints on it and I've only used it a few times. So annoyed it occured 😒
The price increase has me looking to the pre loved market and here in fort Myers you can go to estate sales & Goodwill has a upscale boutique
Yes I can agree with being targeted by thieves in certain areas/countries. Great review as always . I like the way you teach informative information thanks
thank you for this we buy because us happy weather it coach or hermes
Great video! I love my three large and one medium Longchamp le pliage cuir bags, two of which are older (2012). This is as luxury as I am ever likely to go…although I saw a large red leather Gucci tote with a gold and jeweled lion on the front, t.j.Maxx for $1,999 (in store $1,799), I’d love to have…way out of my reach, though. Anyway, thanks for the video!
A lot of people are jealous
I turn my bag around so they don’t see the Chanel logo. I am a little nervous about carrying them. And my Louie Vuitton I have no choice. Depends on were I am going
Prices are ridiculous. I will not be buying new
Thanks Autumn for a great video❤️
#1..100%. Could not agree with you more!
I actually like the patina on vachetta leather better!
Autumn Beckman Your video was very informative for me hope you get a good check from UA-cam to be able to splurge on nice bags you want have a nice day
Loved this video 🥰 that Jackie bag 😍😍
I love exotics and often you can get real leathers off ebay I have a few snake skin bags I bought for 50 dollars they all tend to be a clutch type bag, but snakes aren't all that huge. I get more judgements when folks realize it is real snakeskin. I love youe jackie bag do you wear it often?
I agreed with you dear 🎶
3:37 I definitely feel like I am a target when I carry branded items.
Another fabulous video!
New subscriber. Interesting video. I love the hobo bag.
We, who watch your channel, 😉 know about your love of Coach purses. And you’ve shown us your contemporary bag collection. But what brands do you feel are outstanding quality and not considered “luxury”? Luxury living doesn’t have to mean LV everything, as you so well inform. It can mean a commitment to exception materials, superior construction, you get what I mean. I’d love to see what bags / brands you feel are exceptional quality.
I'm pretty sure multi-millionaires along with the really affluent are not really concerned about price increases.
People who are trying to use luxury handbags as a status symbol might be more than likely to whine about price increases
I just start looking at other brands because the reality is I cannot afford it alot of luxury handbags like hermes, dior and chanel.
But I'm totally happy with my Tory Burch, coach and other brands, plus I already I have a Gucci , Louis Vuitton and a ysl bag so that's good enough.
On point Autumn.
How do u feel about quality of Stella Mccartney?
First to comment 😇😇😇🥳🥳🥳
*The price and quality are my two main reasons for not purchasing like I did in the early 2000's.
Hi Autumn!
I have a question. I'm looking for a wallet made by Lee Sands. It's an eel skin one, but large with outside framed coin compartment. QVC sold them back in the 90 's. They no longer carry them. I have purchased 2 of them. Thought I might buy a used one but in each case they were too scuffed up even for $20.00. If I could just buy a nice one that does that doesn't look too used. Have tried Poshmark and Ebay. They looked too used. Can you think of anywhere I might go? Lee Sands warehouse had them. I all sold out.
Thanks.
Great video.
Very good points. Thank you for sharing and this video.
That was awesome!
first comment!! ❤️
The exclusivity of some brands is getting ridiculous. If you don’t have a SA good luck
*I think this pandemic has taught people the importance of multiple streams of income, unfortunately having a job doesn't mean security rather having different investments is the real deal.*
Well heck, the prices of one of these bags is about the same price as a tank of gas, so, huh, not bad 😂😂😂😂😂
All valid! I’m definitely feeling pushed out and looking more at preloved these days.
Every time I get the “Oh so expensive you can buy so much elevar”, I like to reply “no one bata an eye at fancy electronics and my bag will still be there, with a good chunk of its value while electronics will be in the trash.

Her.mes game lol these companies make me laugh. It's nothing but material things that won't last forever. Hermes , LV and all the others can kiss my butt.
