You are an absolute genius! Like you, I’ve spent endless hours studying the greatest hitters in baseball. So that I could help my son… From the moment I found you I knew you had a great point. It took some time for me to completely understand. But after I got it and started training my 16 year old. His swing is now frame by frame, identical to some of the greatest hitters I could compare him to.. Thank you so much for all your awesome content. Can’t wait for the next video!

When he shows the snap alone, it snaps towards the catcher. When you add the turn, it works back towards your rear shoulder like you said. What you all mad about?

@@killuhbgaming9606 Here's the way i see it. the back elbow slot starts the bat tip accelerating down and rearward. if at that start of the elbow slot you try and rotate your wrist with your forearm 90 degrees to the handle and if you're strong enough you might get the bat handle to rotate away from the rear shoulder, but probably not. the elbow slot and torso rotation causing centrifugal force will now assist you in torqueing the wrist and maintaining 90degrees forearm/handle relationship. there is no way you can look at video and tell me if there is or is not wrist torque!!!! the only way is if you physically DO IT... now tell me and you won't be guessing

Look, I completely understand that “Hittermans” style of teaching the swing is unconventional. At first, it didn’t seem right to me too. But for years I’ve followed, learned and analyzed the swing from so many different instructors/professionals that I don’t even care to mention. I’ve always know there was a more effortless way of swinging the bat that creates more power. THIS IS IT!!! I learned his method.. Taught his method and seen the results myself! What’s there to argue with?

Your videos are very informative! Never seen this concept before I really like it. I will be teaching my 12 year old son this. Also I can correlate this into a golf swing also. Thank you

    Hey Rich
hitting instructor here in Columbia, Mo. teach mostly softball. end of fall season my goal was to find an efficient method/drill to keep my hitters on the momentum plane and stop dumping their bat tip. eureka!! found your drills. Question: above video at stance, stride, foot plant and vertical right elbow slot the bat handle and right and left forearms are at 90degrees. it appears that the elbow slot and the down & around happen so quickly that the small forearm muscles can't get the bat accelerating out of the 90degree position before the momentum of the down & around and elbow slot assist in the snap. i find this true in other videos of elite hitters. thoughts

Im having a bit of trouble in the transition from the snap of the bat to the movement around the pivot...bought clear as mud I know...lol Is it two distinct moments or motions...or does the snap act like a trigger? I'm 66 playing slow pitch softball...your teaching has helped me immensely. Thanks, Alan

    Hello Rich
The more i hear you explain the HLP, the more im amazed at your ability to figure this out and teach it. Obviously you have a tremendous passion for this and the baseball world will be better for it. Thank you for what you do. Id stay away from the rigged debates and rock throwers though. Let your students success be your proof. Unless of course you enjoy proving them wrong and embarrassing them. Either way. Awesome stuff.

It is more of a sudden turn of the hands, not so much a snap, but the practicing of the snap movement makes it easier to feel what that sudden turn of the hands should do and it does work. I have been messing with his technique on a heavy bag, just to see how it feels. Not sure how my accuracy would be hitting a live pitch but I will say just picking a spot on the bag and letting loose with a purposeful snap-turn of hands and turn off the back leg all at once does produce a massively noticeable boost in quickness.

This would make a bad golf swing. Starting the downswing in golf with your hands is called casting the club and is not a very good swing.

this makes a lot of sense. Starts at 1, done at 10. I used to rush the barrel forward alot... and still see it a ton
1 to 10 to 4 can be fast but quickness is missing. Quick is less steps. 1 to 10 to be exact.
I see that pelvic move much clearer

Not being a hater, but when i look at what he is teaching that is not what judge is doing. You are showing to drop the barrel and judge slow motion shows his right elbow going down not his barrel to start the swing.

Your head/eyes fall back and look up on every swing. You couldn't hit that way in batting practice let alone in a game with changing speed and movement. Look at how Judge's head stays still, he does nothing like you describe. He doesn't even post up on his back leg.

I'm getting tired of seeing him lean back like he does. Literally nobody does that. It causes him to have his head up to the sky. What? Just, no.
I like some of the things he is preaching and it's making me go about it a different way with my son. But he is horrible at the demonstration.

He's old and doesn't have the mobility but he's spot on. If you're actually in an athletic attacking position to hit and keeping your head down on the ball BUT use the same feeling he's saying, it's a WAY different result and look. Especially when it's put all together in real time. This dude got something figured out, he's giving out free game!

A little off speed pitch and you’re done. I get what you’re saying, to stay back but that quick snap looks strange. As the pitching gets better at 16-18, it’s much more difficult to hit. Stay back, keep your hands back, stay inside. Hit line drives, not HR’s unless you’re 6’7” like Judge or 6’3” 225 like Trout.
