These instructions are only for legitimate copies of the game purchased and run through Steam. If your controller doesn't work on a pirated copy, suck it up and use a keyboard.
Disabling works because the game has built-in Support for Xbox and PS controllers. Some games don't have that native support and steam helps then, but here its not necessary and could cause issues (for me it showed my ps5 controller as xbox controller, but after disabling it, everything is now correct)
I cant run or make the horse faster when I'm playing with my xbox one controller. But my joystick is working perfectly with other games. Any ideas? I also can't access the controller configuration in game menu
I got a fix If you are running any third party app to customize your controller like DS4 or DualsenseX then close before playing and the controller will run better

Try dual sense X or you could add the cracked game into steam which I'm pretty sure would let you modify your keybinds, I haven't tested this myself yet, I will soon just need to finish my exams

When you open the game with a controller in big picture mode it says that it does not use steams controls at all and it uses one that is built in
no idea why dislike ratio is so bad, turned off steam input and it worked instantly. thx

Same thing basically, just go to "add game"- "non steam game" choose the game, then the same steps as the video
