    That Ronny Radford goal is the greatest ever FA Cup strike. Note the pitch invasion did not involve the harassing of opposing players. Another era.

    Still makes me smile, passion in the mud, hats off to Hereford, hell of a result.

    I was at this game. A once in a life time magic experience for all and the best goal ever scored by Ron Radford of Hereford Utd. Watch this magic video in wonder

    What a great bit of FA cup history this is, Im a Barnsley fan an weve shocked a few of the 'big' boys over the years but this is what the FA cup is about, thick muddy pitch, taking so called bombastic professionals to the cleaners. Every year when the first round drawer appears, as neutrals we all want to see this replicated, sadly I fear it might not ever happen with the money thrown about and so on. However long live the FA cup

    That is how I remember our Beautiful Game.
    Can you imagine next season with VAR ? HOLD ALL CELEBRATIONS ! NO GOAL !
    XXXXX left foot was 2 inches offside after a 4 minute delay..:(

      @@panscrank 100% Right Luckily I support a xxxx team not in The Premier so if we score then INSTANT celebrations once The Ref has given the goal.
      Special Day for me as I enter my 7th decade of following Millwall and go to see them play Hull just over 60 years since my first match on 3rd September 1962 against..............Hull City.... Gone Full Circle 😀

    Wasn't life (and football) so much more fun before the ELF 'n SAFETY squad moved in? Look at the crowd! Brilliant! Today you'd have 50 officious little Hitlers in high visibilty jackets running around saying, "We can't allow this!", and fining everyne in sight! Great days! Thanks for the posting!

      You're right man it was more fun but that was way unsafe and fun doesn't worth some lives. In fact catastrophes as Heysel's are what motivated that security reinforcement.

    R.I.P Ronnie Radford.
    Deservedly your great goal is still talked about now.
    I’m proud to say I was there and took part in 2 of the 3 pitch invasions.
    If you look closely you can see me.
    I’m wearing a Parka.

    Strange to think that this was originally scheduled to be the third match on that night's MOTD but the result pushed it up the schedule and in just his twelfth match of his first season as a MOTD commentator John Motson had the match that everyone remembered.

    The other day I bought a kilo of gnarled, blotchy apples - they wouldn't have won a beauty contest,but, damn, they were so sweet & tasty under the skin, unlike the homogenised, wax-polished crap they sell in the supermarkets nowadays. My love of football died a long time ago as year after year every gnarled, blotchy idiosyncracy in the game was slowly eroded, to be replaced by homogenised, wax-polished product. Thankfully jus tthe other day the Football League rejected the use of artificial pitches - but for how long? Thank-you for the reminder of when games started at the same time, refs wore black, & balls were heavier than a balloon. Moments like this are pure gold. Thank-you.

      I wonder at this too man...I just watched the Arsenal Wrexham 1992 stunner and even then, with better athletes, it was still a tough won game. Now a days, it seems we're getting far in to this "space age" footy that doesn't resemble in the slightest the gritty, real sport of then. I'd rather have this than all the soft dives and kid gloves. I'm not even that old and I feel a huge nostalgia when I view older games :\

    Man I miss when we got to play like this. I was a goalkeeper and defensive midfielder and there was nothing like playing in these conditions, these days god forbid there is some dew on the pitch and the game is called off.

    My favourite thing about this game is when you mention it and everyone says "Oh yeah, the Ronnie Radford game!" , forgetting that it was only the equaliser and that Ricky George got the winner!

      If there was 1 FA cup game including all the finals, certainly in the whole of the 70s and maybe even all time (imo) to be able to say "I was there", it has to be this one. Classic giant killing and with THAT goal. Brilliant.

    I am a bit late here, but for those who have mentioned about the ball weight. It has been the same weight for over 80 years. Only the mud makes it seem heavier.

  • @100percentSNAFU

    Newcastle : Arrives in Hereford...crap, their home strip is black and white as well...no worries, we'll just send the assistant manager over to the local sporting goods shop and grab 11 of whatever generic kit they have (notice Newcastle kits are completely plain without even a crest on the shirt).

  • @jibjab351

    Newcastle away strip red, Hereford home strip black and white

    • @100percentSNAFU
      @100percentSNAFU 3 роки тому

      All red, no sponsor, no pattern, no crest, nothing, just solid red. And goalkeepers wearing but a plain green jumper, no gloves, same team shorts and socks as outfield players. Pure football. I love it.

  • @AIKsupporter

    does anybody wanna tell me why Hereford is dressed in black and white and Newcastle in red? Newcastles emblem is black and white, they're called Magpies and plays in black and white lanes/stripes now since several years back.

    • @northlincsfox243
      @northlincsfox243 5 років тому +1

      I can only assume as Hereford’s home colours were white & black at the time and they were playing at home then Newcastle were obliged to change.

    • @100percentSNAFU
      @100percentSNAFU 3 роки тому

      What's funny is it seriously looks like Newcastle didn't even have a proper away strip for the occasion. It looks like they just hit up the local sporting goods store and bought whatever set of 11 generic kits they could find that were not white and black. Notice how they don't even have a crest on their kits.
