Saw him on another video basically describe him as “this super awkward loner who just happens to care about everyone around him.” As a kid I always loved Cloud, probably more than any other main character, but don’t think I fully understood why. I do remember despite being like 10 years old, was completely blown away by the lifestream sequence and the depth to his character there. Now seeing this character come to life I’m amazed at how well he’s portrayed. A low key favorite moment is when the true Cloud emerges after the Dyne sequence and he tells Barret “we’re here for you” and “I mean it, man.” What a great character.

Im very thankful for these Remakes for bringing back what the OG fans loved about these characters and educating me and a lot of other people on why they are fondly remembered. Not every franchise gets this second chance and Im so happy for FF7 fans!
That chat was amazing after he finished the game. He and the community spent like the next week piecing together what’s going on. The couple of podcasts he was on is great too. Sleepezi is probably the only other person who I think has a superior grasp on things. So it was amazing to see him and Max discuss stuff on Blitz’s podcast
There's no default date the devs have pretty much said this. They're all supposed to fit and represent how he feels with each character within the story
They said that just because they don't want to mess with shippers😂, but actually there is default for main story，because Aerith is the default Rosa in 4/6 dates and only one showed in credits,and the loveless perfectly match the ending and No promises to keep,the interlocking hands and Aerith said she trying to find the real Cloud also correlate with the ending and forest scene.Also the Rebrith Ultimate book they published choose Aerith date as the date part of the main story overview of the chapter 12. Players are free to choose the one they go out for date,but there certain is one that tells the story.

The Loveless play is very clearly meant to be a reference to the Cetra, so it’s sort of a given that it would be Aerith. Plus Barret’s lines are clearly foreshadowing Aerith’s death. I would separate the Loveless play and the song from the skywheel date.

It's too funny to see how many comments are just accusing devs of lying lol. All you need is to play the game and see what dynamic Cloud has with each character and all you need is some common sense to see what different dates are trying to achieve as a mechanic and all you need is to have eyes to see which date stands out romantically. If you're trying that hard to downplay any of the dates as "less canon" then that just proves you already lost and are coping while coming up with excuses.
I wanted Arieth for my date the most. I then thought I'm totally cool if I got Tifa. I actually ended up getting Yuffie and was a little upset at first, but by the end of the date I was totally happy with it. It was such an amazing scene between the two.
Yeeeess, that's the beauty of these dates, you cannot go wrong with anybody. Each date has good character moments!! This is something that needs to return in part 3
The back to the future mix was epic. BttF is my all time favourite movie and trilogy. When I was a kid I’d reenact the entire movie while playing with my hot wheels cars.
I wanted Yuffie's date first I had to hold off on a bunch of other quests but the devs cooked it's silly yet heartwarming. Barrett is the character Yuffie seems to vibe with the most but her chemistry with Cloud is excellent as well.

Not attacking him for his opinion but I didn’t expect Max to be one of those “it’s Tifa’s fault Cloud’s messed up,” people lol, I don’t care about shipping at all but it’s ridiculous to put that all on her and when I say this I’m not attacking anyone’s thoughts, just giving my take on the situation; since Tifa has holes in her memories in regards to Nibelheim as well, she doesn’t know how much of what Cloud says is true and what isn’t either. I think the game makes it obvious that if she did go in on his story inconsistencies it would break his brain, even more than it already had been by the end of the game; that’s the entire point of why the lifestream sequence matters later. They’re figuring out what really happened together in that moment. Also to be fair she’s not the only one that could have spoken up on what’s going on with Cloud. Aerith, Barret, and Red also can clearly tell there’s something off but they don’t say anything either. So I don’t get why it’s all on Tifa when Tifa has holes in her memories as well and doesn’t know what’s going on fully herself. But again not a shipper, not attacking Max’s opinion, just don’t get why people have this take. It’s clearly much more complex than it just being Tifa’s fault lol.
I totally agree and honestly i don’t think there’s any scenario in which tifa can play this correctly. When she does try to confront some of his memories, jenova interferes. Plus now you have seph’s influence and he almost kills her for it. She’s always in a position to lose. I feel for her and quite honestly i think she handled it the best she could.
I don't think he was saying it to mean, "ITS ALL TIFA'S FAULT COMPLETELY". He definitely understands the nuances, but was just using a generalizing statement to get a point across. Like, technically, yeah, it's 'her fault' if you look at it plainly but considering everything in the situation it's not 'her fault'. It's good story writing since it sets up Tifa to be the one to fix it.

While they say there's no canon date to keep the peace, they made sure they showcased their players'choice from their end of the story. As Aerith's is likely the choice of the devs, I think that is why people consider it 'canon' and as it is the most like the original and connects the most to the current lore of the story. They didn't have to showcase any date in the credits, but they chose to. They didn't have to showcase any date for the chapter 12 digest, they could've just left it in the date section of the Ultimania, but they chose to show Aeriths. For NPTK official Japanese website, they also show the Cloud and Aerith date as well. When asked about the song played during the date scene since the OG (Words drowned by fireworks), the composer referred to it as the Aerith date song. As a fan of all characters and loving all the dates, it's more than obvious they are showing their preference at this time in the story. Doesn't necessarily mean they ship anyone. But the Aerith date just makes sense and still leaves the relationship of Cloud open for the rest of the game (hand holding vs kissing). The same goes for the liklihood of Aerith's resolution scene in the remake. It just makes the most sense, though not the only choice.

The fact is, she's already over Zack and just a few seconds ago, she was already saying that Cloud was the one she wanted to be with at that moment. Tbh, if tifa did told the truth in the beginning of the game, there would be no ff7. Plus, cloti cannon is the actual default. Aerith's date with Cloud is a date that Aerith deserves because Zack was not there to be with her right before her death.

Let me start by saying, tifa is my num 1 girl. But with that said. I have to say that the only right choice to go on this date is Aerith. Not because shes the best choice, but because the plot of the game makes more sense to go with aerith, it makes the player love her more, meaning her passing away is more dramatic. And by the end of the game, Cloud remembers that Tifa has always been his number 1. And aerith ends in the lifestream with her true love. ZACK!
@Doomfist69 you can interpret it like he means he will find his true love in the promised land. That's ok. But what i beleave it means is that he finaly inderstands what the promiseland actualy is. And he hopes to meet aerith there because deep down, he feels like he let her down by she dying. So if there is any way he can salvage what happened, he will find away. This is also a perfect example that cloud has a really hard time letting things go, that's why there is so much trauma left in advent children.
The devs have gone on saying none of the dates are cannon but instead represent Cloud’s interactions at that point with the party members based on your party bond. I do love how there’s something for everyone though. Except for poor Cait Sith which feels like a punishment for not bonding with any party members

Tifa and cloud’s relationship, Aerith seeing Cloud for who he truly is and loving him, Barret having a deep heart to heart about the people he loves, Red XII about the future and his friendships, and Yuffie with her growing up and new friendships. (The Cait Sith one showing how the rest haven’t really bonded yet I suppose) But in terms of which one is “cannon” to Rebirth, it’s not stated on purpose and left up to the player with how they want to view things.

They’re all canon in the sense that the feelings in each of them are canon, though the scenes themselves may not be. Clouds feelings towards Aerith, Cloud’s feelings toward Tifa, Cloud’s lack of feeling for the bros… all canon. And all beautiful in their own ways.
I am glad that Max despite prefers Tifa, he is not blind and aknowledges that Clouds worsening state is due to Tifas constantly lying. Its her fault and her responsiblity. But this time, its not only her, its also Zack who is the one looking fot Clouds cure. Tifa and Cloud despite everything Cloti fans says, they dont end up together. Just take your time and talk with a Widower. Cloud in Advent Children neglects himself because he is griefing for Aerith, a woman he thought of settling down with in form of his mothers memories in Elmyras house and the fact he behaves himself in front of Elmyra, begging for her permission to safe Aerith instead do it himself. Cloud has a room and a bed on Tifa, but he prefers to stay in the Church, his and Aeriths spot and her favorite places. He dont eat, he has just a dirty cup to drink. Those who lost a boy/girlfriend, Fiance and Husband or wife regonize themself in Cloud from Advent Children. Tifa is there yes, but she is very dismissive of his feelings. Aerith was her female best friend and yet she cant accept that Cloud is still griefing. Calling Aerith a "Memory" because she is frustrated and jealous that Cloud still prefers a "ghost" instead of her who is pretty much alive.! Even in Nojimas book, they sleep together but arent a couple. Tifa asked Cloud if he loves her, he dont answer that and she instead ask if he loves Marlene. Then she ask if she and Marlene arent enough and Cloud stays silent, meaning yes, they arent enough for him. Aerith lives in Clouds concious, so he is always in contact with her. He travels around to meet her spirit. In Advent Childrens Credit scene, Aerith stands in the flower field, looking at Cloud, while Cloud travels around. Its a clear sign that no matter how high the affection is with Tifa, Cloud and Tifa never will have a happy ending. Nojima even said that even without Geostigma, because of Aeriths death, it would be very difficult for Cloud and Tifa have something going on. Aerith was his Soulmate and even Loveless the play represents Cloud and Aeriths fate. Hollow is Cloud talking about having a secound chance to safe Aerith and No Promises to keep is about Aerith meeting Cloud for the first time and her fate. Part 3 Aerith who is alive in Clouds World he created, will play another big role, she will be saved, Zack will cure Cloud and Tifa will bring Clouds rest of the memories back. They all will fight Sephiroth together. I dont think that Cloud will end up with Tifa or Aerith. SE could make a canon preparation for a wedding to end the ship war but who knows?
Oh wow i thought AC was about cloud’s grief and survivor’s guilt about Zack and aerith’s deaths and his journey of self forgiveness. I’m pretty sure i recall an interview with nomura saying at the end he’s able to forgive himself and return to his promise land which is with tifa and the kids. Also thought hollow was about Zack and aerith, hence it playing in the bad lands where Zack dies, sector 5 and at the end of remake where we see Zack carrying cloud. Also thought nptk was about everyone aerith loves which includes cloud. Guess i had it wrong.

While they say there's no canon date to keep the peace, they made sure they showcased their players'choice from their end of the story. As Aerith's is likely the choice of the devs, I think that is why people consider it 'canon' and as it is the most like the original and connects the most to the current lore of the story. They didn't have to showcase any date in the credits, but they chose to. They didn't have to showcase any date for the chapter 12 digest, they could've just left it in the date section of the Ultimania, but they chose to show Aeriths. For NPTK official Japanese website, they also show the Cloud and Aerith date as well. When asked about the song played during the date scene since the OG (Words drowned by fireworks), the composer referred to it as the Aerith date song. As a fan of all characters and loving all the dates, it's more than obvious they are showing their preference at this time in the story. Doesn't necessarily mean they ship anyone. But the Aerith date just makes sense and still leaves the relationship of Cloud open for the rest of the game (hand holding vs kissing). The same goes for the liklihood of Aerith's resolution scene in the remake. It just makes the most sense, though not the only choice.

Plus, cloti cannon is the actual default. Aerith's date with Cloud is a date that Aerith deserves because Zack was not there to be with her right before her death.

No. Because we accept that Cloud ends up with Tifa. That doesn't take away from Clerith at all. Like, the devs gave us several super cute scenes across both games and Marlene's confirmation. Trust, we're very happy.

Let me start by saying, tifa is my num 1 girl. But with that said. I have to say that the only right choice to go on this date is Aerith. Not because shes the best choice, but because the plot of the game makes more sense to go with aerith, it makes the player love her more, meaning her passing away is more dramatic. And by the end of the game, Cloud remembers that Tifa has always been his number 1. And aerith ends in the lifestream with her true love. ZACK!

But what i beleave it means is that he finaly inderstands what the promiseland actualy is. And he hopes to meet aerith there because deep down, he feels like he let her down by she dying. So if there is any way he can salvage what happened, he will find away. This is also a perfect example that cloud has a really hard time letting things go, that's why there is so much trauma left in advent children.

The devs have gone on saying none of the dates are cannon but instead represent Cloud’s interactions at that point with the party members based on your party bond. I do love how there’s something for everyone though. Except for poor Cait Sith which feels like a punishment for not bonding with any party members

Tifa and cloud’s relationship, Aerith seeing Cloud for who he truly is and loving him, Barret having a deep heart to heart about the people he loves, Red XII about the future and his friendships, and Yuffie with her growing up and new friendships. (The Cait Sith one showing how the rest haven’t really bonded yet I suppose)
But in terms of which one is “cannon” to Rebirth, it’s not stated on purpose and left up to the player with how they want to view things.

They’re all canon in the sense that the feelings in each of them are canon, though the scenes themselves may not be. Clouds feelings towards Aerith, Cloud’s feelings toward Tifa, Cloud’s lack of feeling for the bros… all canon. And all beautiful in their own ways.
I am glad that Max despite prefers Tifa, he is not blind and aknowledges that Clouds worsening state is due to Tifas constantly lying. Its her fault and her responsiblity. But this time, its not only her, its also Zack who is the one looking fot Clouds cure.
Tifa and Cloud despite everything Cloti fans says, they dont end up together. Just take your time and talk with a Widower. Cloud in Advent Children neglects himself because he is griefing for Aerith, a woman he thought of settling down with in form of his mothers memories in Elmyras house and the fact he behaves himself in front of Elmyra, begging for her permission to safe Aerith instead do it himself. Cloud has a room and a bed on Tifa, but he prefers to stay in the Church, his and Aeriths spot and her favorite places. He dont eat, he has just a dirty cup to drink. Those who lost a boy/girlfriend, Fiance and Husband or wife regonize themself in Cloud from Advent Children. Tifa is there yes, but she is very dismissive of his feelings. Aerith was her female best friend and yet she cant accept that Cloud is still griefing. Calling Aerith a "Memory" because she is frustrated and jealous that Cloud still prefers a "ghost" instead of her who is pretty much alive.!
Even in Nojimas book, they sleep together but arent a couple. Tifa asked Cloud if he loves her, he dont answer that and she instead ask if he loves Marlene. Then she ask if she and Marlene arent enough and Cloud stays silent, meaning yes, they arent enough for him. Aerith lives in Clouds concious, so he is always in contact with her. He travels around to meet her spirit. In Advent Childrens Credit scene, Aerith stands in the flower field, looking at Cloud, while Cloud travels around.
Its a clear sign that no matter how high the affection is with Tifa, Cloud and Tifa never will have a happy ending. Nojima even said that even without Geostigma, because of Aeriths death, it would be very difficult for Cloud and Tifa have something going on. Aerith was his Soulmate and even Loveless the play represents Cloud and Aeriths fate.
Hollow is Cloud talking about having a secound chance to safe Aerith and No Promises to keep is about Aerith meeting Cloud for the first time and her fate.
Part 3 Aerith who is alive in Clouds World he created, will play another big role, she will be saved, Zack will cure Cloud and Tifa will bring Clouds rest of the memories back. They all will fight Sephiroth together.
I dont think that Cloud will end up with Tifa or Aerith. SE could make a canon preparation for a wedding to end the ship war but who knows?
Oh wow i thought AC was about cloud’s grief and survivor’s guilt about Zack and aerith’s deaths and his journey of self forgiveness. I’m pretty sure i recall an interview with nomura saying at the end he’s able to forgive himself and return to his promise land which is with tifa and the kids. Also thought hollow was about Zack and aerith, hence it playing in the bad lands where Zack dies, sector 5 and at the end of remake where we see Zack carrying cloud. Also thought nptk was about everyone aerith loves which includes cloud. Guess i had it wrong.
