@Charlene Warren I understand your perspective now. I'm Canadian so I'm not hypersensitive to American accents...nevertheless his needed work. However, I don't think another backstory could've been added to the movie...there were too many already. His character was one of very few with a singular aim and he milked it. So this is why he's memorable.

Let’s be clear, the issue with Cynthia portraying Harriet Tubman was not because she is not a Black American. The issue is the negative comments she made out Black Americans but wanted to act as one of our greatest heroine on screen.
It's shame her comments have detracted from a story about Black heroine who deserves to celebrated
It was about both. A Black American like Viola Davis or Regina King should have played Harriet. Cynthia won't even acknowledge if she comes from a slave trading family. If she wanted to play a slave, play a Nigerian or British one. Black Americans, descendants of American Chattel Slavery deserve to tell our own stories. She is disrespectful and did not apologize for her behavior plus she is a subpar actor.
Those roles should have been played by Africans but the films were made by Americans who chose ADOS. Maybe Africans should remake those films and cast themselves? Still doesn't support the case for ADOS not being chosen for roles that are about ADOS people. If you have no ancestral link to a character how can you really understand or embody the character?

I've seen a few of this Gentleman's interviews lately and I rarely have felt so engaged. The way he tells his experience as a black man and enlightens the black experience in general honestly is so so beautiful. As a white person i know for a fact that we don't know shit and that we'll never be able to understand the pain that is still perpetrated against black people by white people. You can't try as much as you want but you just can't. What we can do is listen (and not being a racist dickhead) and this man's words helped me to understand a little bit more. He embodies so much gracefulness.

From the South there are main characteristics but, some one from Miami will act different than someone black in Kansas. My point is that we dont need our culture hijacked so, let's cap this thing to a handful of folks and that's it. We know what's happening in movies but, we dont put our foot down to people in music like Rihanna, Nikki, Drake, Kodak, 21Savage, Bruno, The Weekend, Miguel, etc. So, when they don't get into politics or buck the system we now see why. They not rooted in America.

White brits are also disproportionately playing white american roles, that's just the way it is because Hollywood was built by Americans therefore people will seek the opportunity to go and make it big there.

You guys were mad Chiwetel Ejiofor (a Black Brit) played the lead in 12 years a slave and that movie was directed by a Black Brit. Great interview! Daniel is extremely talented and we rock with him. On Cynthia Errivo, we DON'T like her slick mouth and Anti-Black American views. She wasn't the best for the role either. Viola Davis would have been fire in that role. Plus they crowbarred a lot of BS fantasy in the movie. Miss Errivo can kick rocks.
