The Chinese B1 .22 Rifle - Zeroing for rats from 10 yards

- In this video I was asked by friend Colin if I could zero his Chinese springer rifle in for controlling rats. I was using RWS Hobby pellets, which happen to be wadcutters. The flat head on these will give maximum energy dump at the target and help reduce pass through. I set the zero for 10 yards, with a maximum distance, no further than 24 yards due to the power level on the rifle. After zero I put the gun over the Hawk Chairgun software to produce hold over points at different distances, and a good idea of power at various ranges.

"Wife" - What is that hole 🕳️ in the wall? "Husband" - I don't know, never seen it before. Lol 😆 👍 Great video 😉👍
I can't believe this I've settled on the exact same set up Scope Mount and pellets and it's brilliant 👍
Not a bad result for a 5 ft/lbs rifle with wad cutter pellets.
at 10 yards or 15 yards i would not use a scope ,a open sight will do ,is my opinion
Getting up off the floor would be my main concern ... never mind setting it up ..
Mine doesn't have a place to mount a scope, but the irons are pretty accurate.
The iron sights are quite good on the B1. I have one and that's all I use is the open sights and they work as they should. The front sight is easily adjustable for windage by drifting it left or right. Mine doesn't have a place for a scope either.
First couple of high 20yd shots could be a little dieseling, I noticed a bit of smoke from the barrel at 10yds shooting.
It Could be, then at only 5.2 ft/lbs the wad utters are also at their limits at 20 yards, when designed for 10 metre target work.
Why didn't the wadcutters produce a nice clean hole? I'm shooting a .177 out to 30 meters and it cuts a neat hole.
Since a few years I've been using self made targets from disposable paper plates, 1€ for 40, diameter is 23 cm and then I attatch 9 black target patches 19 mm in a circular pattern = less target changing and saves money.
I'm sure you can buy the plates in the UK from Pound Savers or Poundland. I get mine here in Germany from the Euro Shop.
target paper has very short fibers ,this paper he uses long fibers, then it rips not a clean hole and the power is very low of the gun
@@peteralexben Hi, thanks for the logical explaination, I see now that the targets were printed on A4 writing paper.
Happy shooting and greetings from Germany.
I would have had a whole world of pain on my head if I had been caught using the living room as part of the range 😂 ( not saying I've never tried it if you get my drift) I suspect this was a stealth operation carried out when the 'boss' was out 😎🤫 I dug out my old BSA 635 magnum .25 the other day, however the barrel I have learned is actually a smaller calibre than the .25 of today's guns. Consequently the modern. 25 pellets are very tight in the barrel. Do you have any idea where I could obtain a pellet sizer to get them to fit? The old Rhino pellets are no longer available. Or do you think a modern barrel could be fitted ??? Enjoyed the video as ever Mark 😎👍
The Wife was in Torquay with her Sister, so I had the hose to myself.
Morning mate, great job you are doing. have got you on Instagram have been following for a bit have you reviewed a vixen 177 cal long thinking of getting one and don’t won’t to jump in with to feet before I ask someone how knows what’s what thanks wayne
I haven't been lucky enough to test a Vixen yet, but they do look like great rifles and use the CZ barrels.
The rifle is acting like the crown of the barrel is not cleanly finished. Check for obvious imperfections and rectify.
It's a B2 ;-) (B1 doesn't have a thuns release)
Thanks for the correction
No one should ever be using that thing on a living animal, rats need as much respect as any other animal out there, most of your rat shots are under 20y I always scope up just prior to my first initial shot and if I wasn't grouping at under 10mm on a 19y zero I pack up and go back home. And with all respect to you I would not be zeroing someone else's rifle in for them if he can't do that for himself he should not be shooting something with a heart beat,if he knocks the gun or drops it no doubt he will just carry on regardless. Pluss you set a gun up for your own eye, and you should be telling him this! Anyway now all that's off my chest, have a good day thanks, oh yeah tell him to just shoot tin cans it will save a whole lot of suffering to the rat population
take a chill pill... relax... a inexpensive gun can kill just like an more expensive one ?
@@jamesdenny4734 yeh coarse it can if you can hit the bloody thing
He's not planning to shoot the Rats. He's going to batter them with the stock.
Best thing to do with these Chinese air rifles is after unboxing ,keep the cardboard...then throw the gun in the bin!!!
