Enjoy the day Kelly 🙂 you will be amazing . My one piece of advice would be , let the faster swimmers go at the start of the swim and just find your own space in the water 🏊. Good luck .
Best advise I can give is enjoy it. Give it you’re all, but enjoy the experience. Its a great laugh. I’ve only done a handful, but I love a triathlon for a good old laugh, whilst still competing the best I can. I never take anything easy, but its always a bit of a free hit with a tri.
So I guess this will kind of a duathlon since the swim is a no go. Good luck, you are well prepared. May have to do another one to get that swim experience.
I’m running my first triathlon this summer and I’m a type one diabetic, my blood sugar keeps going low and it’s so difficult to manage (esp on the run). Any way you could talk through how you manage your diabetes/insulin for a triathlon race?
What is the rationale for the no phone rule? I'm only asking because I noticed over the past couple years that man runners film their run (though on go pro type of things), and thinking surely this is something triathletes would want to do for memories or just their vlogs...
I’m not sure the reasons behind the rule (no phones or cameras/filming devices) or wether it’s just a this event specific rule, my guess is for the safety maybe of other competitors, they don’t want people stopping/not paying attention as it’s a lapped course? 🤷🏼♀️ that would be my theory. Another reason I’m thinking is if equipment is lost in transition, a responsibility issue. I’m sure someone can offer a more clear reason for this 😊
I will be checking at registration, but have the old finger pricker as a back up. Also good as if it’s cold/wet even with phone can lose signal so I guess reassurance all round 🎉
Thank you! Gutted about the swim simply because I focused on that so much last couple of months and really tackled some fears and weaknesses! Was psyched up for it. However will still be an experience, and another Tri entered to go again with all three 🎉😍
It has. Had an email today (after I had filmed this) to say the lake failed toxin test for blue green algae 😭 totally get its for safety, but it was gutting after focusing so much on swim. Anyway, replaced with a run, and have another lined up 🤞 ❤️
Good luck Kelly, you will smash it!!!
Exciting times! Very best of luck Kelly!
Exciting new experience. All the best, enjoy
Good luck!

Well have fun, I'm there racing too. Hopefully it won't be as wet as it is forecasting
🤞packed all the dry/warm clothes for afterwards 😆 good luck hope you have a fab race!
Good luck Kelly! Hope you enjoy the event!

100! We do it for fun right! 🎉
As a runner, you will probably have a good finish too. Most of the cyclists can’t really run!

Good luck to you!!
Smash it :-) great prep

Would you be able to have special dispensation to be able to use your phone to scan for your blood sugars? Worth a check?

Best of luck! Shame about the swim.
