I'm so happy to have found you, Nan. Being a frustrated left-handed painter, your idea's and recommendation have been so positive! I loved your video and will be seeing much more of you in the future! Thank you so much.
Hands down the best demonstration of brush painting leaves I have seen! I must have watched thousands of tutorials on various things over the years and this is the very first time I have been compelled to write a comment. Thank you so much Nan!!
You are indeed gracious ! I have never never seen any one teaching the finer details in this depth. I am indeed happy that I could connect with your video ! Salutations !
I just found your video on youtube and watched it. I must say...out of all the videos on painting leaves you are the most helpful. I love you patience to explain in detail. Keep up the great work!
Best demonstration you actually explain ( clearly) what you are doing and how, and why. It’s so important to understand the botany of plants you’re painting.
Just starting painting, learning stems an leaves. Wished I'd saw this 2 months ago! I'm a lefty too, jus a few lil challenges haha. Thank you for this vid!
Nan, all of your videos are amazing. I like how you break down the stroke and pressure applied and you do it at the slowest speed. I need that. Thanks so much for sharing.
I just found your channel and this was a fabulous lesson, explained so beautifully! I believe this will help me to do better leaves…thank-you so much!😊
Wow! Nan you just answered about a million questions in 8 short minutes! Delighted I found your channel. There are so many teaching here on UA-cam that have actually admitted to me in comments that “it’s difficult to explain...” You my dear, have just proven that is a myth. Now I have something I can pass on to them. So grateful to you. Thank you for sharing. New subscriber and big fan. Blessings to you.
This is a really great tutorial for ink drawing! I'll have to show my granddaughter & see if she wants to try it next time she comes over, or perhaps watercolors I'll have to get some more rice paper! This is a great skill to teach kids! Once they get it, it's a really fun activity they can do for hours when they get older. I think it's great for teaching patience, and that less is more too! Very nice! I'll have to look for a lettering tutorial, as that's what I'd love to do better myself! Love the leaves! Beautiful! I wish things like this were taught in elementary schools still! Wonderful activity that teaches more than just art!
Ms. Nan thank you. like your clear instructions. i have learn a l9t from you today and will sticking on your channel to keep learning. Really appreciated for your kindness to sharing your knowledge.
Hi Nan, so wonderful to see a lefthanded artist! I love your video's. Have just started Chinese Flower painting and have a real struggle with the book I am learning from (which does explain the steps very well) because its a right handed book and my leaves and such come out with the colour on the wrong side. Everything happens the other way round because being lefthanded I start the strokes differently, and then the light part comes out at the underside of the leaf and the dark part at the top, which is not how its supposed to be.... Can you give me any advice on how to tackle this problem or make a video adressing lefthandedness? Much love from Suuz from Netherlands x
hi Nan, As a beginner, your clear explanations and demonstrations of specific techniques to create specific leaf shapes has been very helpful for me! If you are still taking requests, I'd love to see a demonstration of brush techniques for ginkgo leaves.

I saw one and now I can’t stop watching one after another for the past hours n hours n hours ,thanks a lot and stay blessed always :) also kindly let me know when you’re just using green how do u have the lighter shades and whiteish
Beautiful technique. I am trying to get better at my leaves! You mentioned a detail brush being used. Is that what I am looking for in the store or is there a specific name of the type of brush I need especially to do the land and release center stroke technique?? Thanks
Dear Matthew: Thank you for your kind comment...that means so much! The actual name of the brush I was using is 'Best Detail Brush'. You won't be able to get it in Western art stores but should find one in a Chinese or Japanese art store. If not, go to my website www.nanrae.com and click on supplies.
