I sound like a broken record Claudio, but I love these conversations so very much. Please Dennis, stay with us for a longggg time…! (Isn’t it time for a book?!). Thanks guys!!!!!! Watching this 8 months later.. and goosebumps here. I love these stories so much. It’s about knowledge, friendship, trust, admiring eachother, and the chemistry between Claudio and Dennis..
Yes you’re right the Resurrected artwork is a modern version. It’s a better quality painting than his original Destroyer painting! There IS a rough draft version of brown, it’s on the KISS My Ass VHS and I think it might be in the KISStory book and maybe the KISS Auction catalogue, but it’s not album art quality it looks like a rough concept draft. I think that version is what Dennis is talking about. Edit : you said it. You know your stuff, respect.
Another great interview Claudio. We lost a lot of great artists this year. I remember watching an interview with Ken and he said he got paid twice for the Destroyer art.
It’s interesting and kind of funny how Dennis encouraged Robert Fleischer to use Photoshop for his collage art. Due to his commercial art background his approach was workmanlike - shooting for efficiency, missing the point of how found objects have their own ‘magic’ in their physical textures. I bet Robert got a chuckle out of this. 😊
I've always had this chicken or the egg question... did Ken Kelly indirectly design Gene's dragon boots when he painted the final art for the Destroyer album cover ? Or were they already created and they told him to add them in ?
@@thefonzkiss ...yeah I figured that out when I seen those 'great expectations' studio pictures with the symphony, where they were wearing the prototype Destroyer costumes. It's interesting.
Claudio, love this interview and the others with Dennis! Watch this video of Ken Kelly being interviewed. It will answer a few of your questions: ua-cam.com/video/d9cOUWn9CwQ/v-deo.html
That Ken Kelly interview is 100 times more entertaining and informative than these two talking second-hand info... Woloch is an integral part of KISStory for being there, but he's just the art DIRECTOR, not the actual ARTIST.
The brown cover IS the original. Ken Kelly was not painting like he did 30 yrs ago. His craft had fallen off seriously. The resurrected cover is indeed a copy of the original.

The costumes already existed.
