- Last season we tried the Insta360 camera mounted on the Smiths Racing BMW.
It was mega!
For those of you who commented "More on boards!" here goes!
This year the team at @Insta360 have sent me the Insta360 ONE R to get some exciting onboard footage for you guys. This was at @britishsuperbike round 4, FP1, Snetterton.
The camera was mounted on the side of the bike this time and it added a completely dynamic 'on bike' footage for you. Hopefully, we will try it in different places each time. Leave your ideas below!
Stayed tuned to @Hicky60 for more Workshop Tours, exclusive on-board action, and much more.
Enjoy!

Heaven machine
Heavenly sound 👍👍
Damn Hicky, that sound is unbelievable. Little better than my XR, with a Cobra. It sounds more like an Indy car...
That sounds amazing, cracking film Pete.
Thank you! There will be more! 👍
I can't get over how stable the footage is! 😲
Thanks! Want to try different camera positions to get a real dynamic feel too ✊
🏆🥂🍾🎉
Catch22 on the straights.
amazing
Thank you!
Great footage, cool angles. You should use this camera at the next IOMTT
We can only use a helmet camera for demo laps, but I would love to do this again ✊
Hicky getting his fix 👍
Certainly was!
Good video Peter
Thanks !
Hicky (or anyone), why have I always thought that applying throttle in a corner, would be detrimental to front grip, yet when I see it applied, the front wheel is lifting, whilst cranked over, and they are still cornering? What’s actually happening?
So when the throttle is applied weight transfers to the rear of the bike, which does mean that weight is taken away from the front, however it’s all about how much is applied and exactly where in the corner to be able to keep the line. Also, a lot of the time, we steer/turn the bike by spinning the rear, rather than using the front! 👊
Hicky60 ,cheers mate for the reply.... I’m never gonna try it, but it astonished me how much lean angle you carry in to greeba bridge and still raise the front wheel! Mindboggling, av a good week pal
Great sound! Always nice to see Hicky in action. I'm not a fan of so much panning of the camera, one or two different static shots are more immersive for me.
Fair enough! We will be mixing it up a bit at other circuits 👌
What is the lever beside clutch?
Rear brake 👍
Wow did not realise how much compression there is on front, those brake pipes are almost dragging the corners too.
Never seen from this angle normally either 👍
The incredibly annoying aspect of this video is the failure to show exactly where and how the camera was mounted which defeats much of what the video really demonstrates about the camera beyond the immediate thrill. The non-360 video shows the wrong side of the bike. The One R might be assumed to be on a self stick to the side about seat height. Maybe.
This was the first time we had added the InstaR to the side mount and of course there are a few niggles.
Love the idea of the selfie stick at seat height, but this was a BSB practise session and we are only allowed to use the traditional GoPro mounts and only limited mounting points. We will be doing much more dynamic footage on a closed track session in the near future!
