This little two stroke has a two thousand rpm powerband. From 10,000 rpm to 12,000 rpm. This is highly technical riding as the engine cannot push the bike through the turns, over what the chassis can make it do. There is no excess of power to make up for any early braking or blowing through an apex at a too low or too high a speed. This is very tough to win in this size motorcycle class. You have to drive exactly perfect all the way around. What a great video.
i saw 145mph at 12krpm at one point, and it goes up to 15k. I used to have a 2 stroke Kawasaki Ar, and an electrician who raced track bikes removed the rev limiter in the cdi, and it went from 12k max to 18k max. imagine if they did such to this tz250!!!
Looks like the speed sensor wasnt working properly in a couple of places, Sulby straight and waterworks. Interesting to see where the fastest speeds are; Highlander which is what Hizzy used to say, and down to Brandish.
This was onboard with Richard Lambourne riding Stu Jones' 5KE TZ. They fought some gremlins during the week (plus a lot of cancelled sessions due to rain) so had to make some guesses on setup/gearing and jetting. Job well done for pulling it all together and finishing the race with a 105 mph lap!
When i got my FZ 750 i was dreaming of going to F1 bike an a couple people told me about the TZ 250 factory yamsha...then reality hit when they told me about the rebuilds....10000 grand...bah fungoul
This is only using the GoPro software and their own data overlay. Thus no engine parameters- just GPS-based info. But you have to enable the data display before importing the files to your PC, I think.
I know they're noisy, dirty, polluting etc. But bloody loved riding 2 strokes back in the day! Ridiculous performance from such small engines.
Who cares if they are dirty and noisy and as for polution its a joke dont get taken in.............. in % terms its nothing trust me !!!!!!!!!!!!
@@allanhughes7859 they should have restricted the private planes before they bothered with 2 strokes
@@testaccount4191 you got it !!!!
@@allanhughes7859 maybe we can put wings on them
Direct injection and Menthol we'd be would be good to go... OPEC and the tree huggers won't let that happen
I swear i could smell the 2 stroke 'smoke' watching this, great video.
Thanks for the onboard recording. I would like to take part in the Manx Lightweight next year and the recording is really helpful. great riding mate

This video made my house smell of 2stroke. It's wonderful.😊
Thank you for the beautiful video, really enjoyed the humming of the 2stroke.

That onscreen info is awesome!
I used to have the Rg 125 and the RGV 250 awesome machines. Miss the the 2 stroke poppers....and they smell amazing.
When 1st gear on a 250cc bike goes to about 75mph.. Glorious all around.

Fantastic video! Did you change the gearing for the race? It seemed a little long on the climbs...

What camera did you use to get DashWare to work properly?

is it me or does it seem slow for a tz 5KE??
Probably seems slow when your watching this from the safety of your couch
Mat Oxley lapped at c.102 mph on a TZR250/2MA road bike in the 1986 production race. So, yes!
borrowed bike - one-off ride. Safe jetting, safe riding (haha, it's all relative). First priority was a safe finish. 105mph lap was a good result.
What did that sign day come to my house later for waffles your mom is cooking....huh???

โว้วทะลุ200 ไปแว้วว พึ่งรู้ว่ายามาอ่าก็มีคีย์การ์ดหรอ
Name 2 more 250cc that do140mph
Gotta be out of these three? I'll go with the Aprilia RS250 mk2 and the Suzuki RGV250 (same engines if I recall?) and the Yamaha TZR250.
It's when the Smoke Stops you worry ....
Looks like another tooth on the rear would have been better
