Built the sleeper wall today with my lad!! So pleased!! Would have never been confident enough or able to do this without your videos mate!! Thank you so much!!
That's class! It's sound getting comments like this. I get the odd critique now and then from 'experts' who don't like that something is 1mm out. But the video is for normal people who want to give it a crack!
Brilliant as was your first one building the actual wall. To cut those sleepers to the same size when turning them, have a stop end to turn the wood against, anything heavy would do or use the garage wall.
Loving all your videos. I really want to have a go at doing my own patio after getting extortionate prices off quotes! But, i have spinal metastases so my back isn't very strong anymore due to surgery and rods in it 😢 But have a son who could help. So i am tempted to give it a go!!!🤪🥰
Slow and steady will do it! Especially with the weather we're expected to have over the next few weeks. But take it easy! Definitely get the help of your son 😁
Love the whole series! Inspired me to do the same in my new build garden. I'm buying materials shortly. Can I ask which TimberLok Screws you used? I too am a novice! :)
Cheers 👍🏻 I don’t remember the exact sizing, but these were the screw type: www.toolstation.com/spectre-timber-fixing-screw/p64014?CRakuten&Caffiliates&C4639013517586710761457029&ShopForward+CSS&ranMID=46390&ranEAID=nz%2FxpRlxjVA&ranSiteID=nz_xpRlxjVA-Bq2oyZEudxE1GEQ.fxxXKg

Not a bad effort at all pal, im a bit OTT so i would have to get that gap gone lol or at least cover it with another piece on top! You need to get yourself a nice impact driver too mate, absolute mustard they are for screwing jobs! I got a 20v ferrex one from aldi and its been fantastic, built a shed using it the amongst various other things iv used it for!
I’ve been looking at getting an impact driver for a while now - definitely seem like they are worth the investment! I’ll check out the ferrex one you mentioned 👍🏻
well done lad well thought out

@@NoviceGardener wish I could send you a photo! I’ve pretty much copied your design cos our gardens are so similar! 👍

Great videos it’s inspiring me to take on the challenge that is my back garden. Thanks
Nice one!
Good luck with your garden 👍🏻
Excellent video
Good video mate. Sometimes I use dowels in the areas I don't want to see screws.
Well done.
Amazing! I really wish I could do that! Chees for the vid 👍🏻

Nice work, thanks for showing

Great job ‼️👏👏👏👏👌👌
Hi mate, don't worry about the gap, done this before put a sleeper laid flat on the top and nobody will know 👍
Useful video! How do you suggest cutting a sleeper all the way through with a 10 inch circular saw?
Excellent video. Which saw are you using please? Is it just a standard mitre saw?
Looks sick that pal.. Need do the same In my garden.. Mine goes 28ft across
2x post at the rear if the steps 200mm down would have made them solid
Good effort👌

Would you guys consider some timber coping on top to hide the gaps? If it doesn't bother you then it makes no odds.
I did consider this when we first did it, but decided against in the end. I quite like the aesthetic of it without.
Do you have any advice on choosing a circular saw to do this project?
I just got a Mac Allister one from B&Q. Any would do the job. The bigger the blade, the better.
Have you used the same sleepers for the posts? Just drawing up my plans :D
Yep, same sleepers.
Good luck with your project!
@@NoviceGardener thanks! Another Q, how many sleepers do you have underground? Just the one?

What size were the posts you cut up mate? 100x100?
That’s right, the larger pieces were 100x200.
Did you get your sleepers from a local supplier or one of the major hardware stores? Anywhere you recommend for a decent price?
I got them from Jewson. I'd definitely recommend them for treated wood. I've used Wickes a few times, but the quality doesn't seem to be the same.
@@NoviceGardener appreciate that! I’ll take a look at Jewsons now!
What wood did you use for the retaining wall please? Thanks
It was 200x100 pressure treated from Jewson.
2 years on how slippy is this now? Has it aged well?
woolyback?
Step height looks high?
They're not as steep as they seem to be honest, I did think they may have been high at first. The depth helps offset the height.
What colour sleepers are these?
They’re advertised as green, although they are not green in colour
Amazing video and truly inspired. Any chance you could come and help us do our garden?
Nice one!
Wish I could!
In my first work I always used Woodglut plans.
