I was in Bethlehem and prayed in her room with her prayer shawl. That night I prayed for a miracle for my wife, and it profoundly happened within two hours of my simple prayer for her intercession. This happened just after she was canonized in 2016

Thank you so much father. I'm a wreck of a human being after enduring 10 years of child abuse. I act out in fear, anger, and confusion that seems beyond my control. Over time I began to realise that I don't need to wait until I am perfect to be a follower of Jesus. I can follow him as best I can with all my limitations and aim to do the good he enables me to do and gratefully allow his mercy to cover my limitations.
My turbulent mind does not permit me to pray. Yet, I can sit for up to an hour in a quiet Church which brings me into an indescrible peace which brings love and compassion into my heart for others who limp their way through life like me.
God's light shines into the darkness of my madness and fills me with so much love for others. He calms the raging waters within me. And I promise, I can take no credit. I am spiritually paralysed.
I just sit there and wait. It is not discipline that keeps me before the alter. It is brokenness.
I have learned that God can reach down lower than my sin drawing me up into the bosum of his mercy and turning my weakness into a source of empathy and understanding for those who struggle in a similar way.

I understand your pain because I’m there too. I had a traumatic childhood and am still trying to not cry over my brokenness. I feel like I trip over my own feet so much I’m a burden. But the more I admit my brokenness the closer God seems to get. Neither of us is alone! No one is! God bless you with peace & grace.

@@The.Artistic.Squirrel Indeed my brother/sister. When we carry our cross it's ok if we regularly stagger and fall. We're both on the path of healing and recovery. Perhaps a long road, even an odyssey, but I know God's love and mercy will carry us as we slowly learn to walk again. And the lessons we learn on the journey, lessons of hope and love and God's goodness, can be a source of help for others too. God bless you my friend. God always stand's ready to receive us.

Let us not lose hope brothers and sisters for it is said:

Luke 14:7-11 "When he noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, he told them a parable. ‘When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honor, in case someone more distinguished than you has been invited by your host; and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, “Give this person your place,” and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, “Friend, move up higher”; then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.’"

OK, Father, but presumption is a MASSIVE problem in our modern Church; mortal sin is very real, and unconfessed, it consigns souls to eternal wailing and gnashing of teeth. Yes, you mention Confession, and we know that Our Lord is merciful, which is critically important for hope; but as far as I can see, there is a woeful lack of emphasis in the Church on the critical need for repentance and the frequenting of Confession.

Thank you so much Fr Mark! I’ve been asking Heaven all week to help me see a very difficult situation in my life through Heaven’s eyes, not my own. Makes me think of Isaiah 61:3 - “They will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified” Thank you 🙏

I know that guilt of sin and the consequent sorrow some of us live with, if offered through the Cross and the Precious Blood, serve for our own personal atonement and purification. With the correct disposition of humility and contrition, it has liberating power, and thus it is a paradodox.

St. Maryam of Bethlehem is an incredible saint and a human being who suffered throughout her life like Fr. Mark said. You have to read the story of her life, it is incredible, you would love her very difficult live and love for the Lord and His mother. It is also a little book you can read in no time: Maryam of Bethlehem, the Little Arab by Sister Emmanuel Maillard. Thank you father Mark for presenting this holy Discalced Carmelite nun to the world.

Jesus said to the religious people and elders who thought they were better than others: Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots will go into the kingdom of God before you (Math. 21:31b).
The kingdom of God is for those who recognize themselves as sinners knowing that they cannot redeem themselves by their own works. (1 Cor.7:23) You have been bought with a great price; do not become slaves of men. (2 Cor.10:18) For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;" So never neglect to pray daily for our men in high places, that indeed we might continue to enjoy liberty like no other nation on earth has ever before enjoyed. Iím afraid that too often we take it for granted, even as believers, that this is just common place. No, it is not! We are so blessed! The Grace of God has been showered on this nation like no other people on earth, and we should never take it for granted.

I pray that our Almighty Father is making me into one of these trees. While I'm trying my best to live like Christ, I'm fallible and go into sin almost on a weekly basis. It has been getting better the closer I get to him but there are days that the enemy attacks and wins his battle. Thank you Almighty Father for continuing to lift me up each day, even when I do fall. ❤❤❤

This reminds me of a quote by I think Jung. That the tallest trees have the deepest roots. It's often the greatest sinners that become the most stalwart saints. St. Mary of Egypt and St. Ignatius come immediately to mind. Along with one of my favorite, lesser known, saints, St. John the Great Sinner.

I really love this video. I became addicted to a grave sin even before I knew it was a mortal sin. Even after knowing that I continued my addiction all my life. I would go to confession over and over, but the confessor who was pastor at the time of my church could only give me the same advice which wasn't a good fit for me and hard to do. The last time I went to him his parting comment was that better Catholics than I had left the church. Whatever that meant. I never returned partly because I had moved to a new area out of that parish. Here I am today 79 years old. I still do the act occasionally and know that it offends God. I always say I am sorry and will do a self imposed penance most of the time. I have my reasons for doing it so not sure if is acceptable to God. This video gives me hope. Jesus' favorite two words are "I forgive". Don't remember where I heard that.
