    Randle has a clear role on the team. He’s one of 2 players on the roster that can create shots and is an absolute beast in the paint. While Randle should absolutely start it would be a huge boost for the Knicks to give him a lot of time with the second unit as a point forward running the offense

  • @WHG369
    @WHG369 Місяць тому +15

    How do you question Randle when he's the constant. Hart has been a bench player. And will return to the bench. Dante will be the odd man because he earned his starting minutes over grimes b4 he left. But he came here as a bench player as well. Everyone cant start. Theres no issue save for a false narrative. Teams win championships with strong benches. This is an asset not a liability. How can Randles fit be questioned when the only change on the team is Bridges. How can it be questioned with him in the lineup they went 12-2. The issue is not seeing the floor holistically but thinking about players in pieces.

    • @basketballreach
      @basketballreach  Місяць тому +1

      There is that but now with Bridges also in that lineup it does get a little bit trickier. I'd give it a 60% chance that Randle does fit in the starting lineup and a 40% chance he doesn't but they still play him there anyway

    • @WHG369
      @WHG369 Місяць тому +1

      @@basketballreach I don't think so. Bridges does the same thing as Dante with more options to score. You can look this stat up. Dante shot a higher % from 3 when he played with Randle. He was open more because Randle drew the double team. Go look at Bridges highlights. He's in the corner. He will either shoot the 3 or take the rotating player off the dribble and has the ability to knock down the midrange. This will actually cause more ball movement because when he drives he will cause defenses to collapse. Or the open 3. We don't have to scheme for him. The only issue is if Randle is affected by the shoulder and doesn't command a double team anymore. Guess what. He is a 2b option now. Bridges 2a. He takes you off the dribble, Randle is open as the ball rotates and most 4 defenders are slower than him. He still has the strength to over power most of the people rim protecting. Randle and Bridges will be at the line alot. My opinion

    Also disagree with “you can’t get away with Julius at center” with Deuce mikal OG hart there won’t be many shots at the rim from dribble penetration - and what center besides embiid does he actually need to guard?

    • @basketballreach
      @basketballreach  Місяць тому +1

      Firstly I agree with the fact that the Knicks perimeter defense will be elite once again but that doesn't mean there won't be any looks at the rim. The Mavericks ate the Thunder alive at the basket with alley oops last post season even though OKC's outside defense had been great

    • @basketballreach
      @basketballreach  Місяць тому +1

      Then as for other centers Randle would have to guard I'd say AD, Jokic and Sabonis in the west and in the east Porzingis when healthy will need guarding along with Giannis when the Bucks go small then Myles Turner and Bam Adebayo can also get it going

    • @WHG369
      @WHG369 Місяць тому +2

      @basketballreach yeah but this is back up center not starting. Also it's circumstantial based on match ups. You named about 5 people. If we played all of them twice that's 10. We play the east coast teams more let's say 14 games. Its an experiment.

    • @Dizz679
      @Dizz679 Місяць тому +3

      You do realize Randle dropped 46 on Sabonis? Also Randle has gotten 18 boards on Sabonis. Not to mention Ad , when Julius versus him their numbers are identical. AD primarily gaurds Randle when they verse each other. I don't want randle playing center because it makes no sense height wise but he wouldn't just be some push over.

    • @boltyourselfin

    Leon Rose has a plan for sure. Every year since he’s been running the show, he makes a mid season trade that’s always followed by a win streak and an incredible second half of the season. The signings he’s making are stacking trade chips. He’s gonna evaluate the first half of the season and then make a trade at the deadline to solve the center rotation issue. If anybody is gonna beat the Celtics, it’s gonna be the Knicks.

  • @RedSteele8000
    @RedSteele8000 Місяць тому

    There's no reason to question who is going to start. Why? Josh Hart brings energy, speed, defense & the ability to get out in transition. Donte DiVincenzo is a good defender & 3 point shooter. Neither of them is consistent in terms of scoring which is why Jalen Brunson had to average almost 40 for the team to win. They are good, but are better coming off the bench.
    As for Julius Randle? You mentioned that before he got injured, the team was winning easily. So why would it be any different now? Randle fits well with the Knicks. He can: pass very well, get out in transition, cut to the rim for passes that lead to easy baskets on the run, post up, finish on ally oops, finish on pick n' rolls, drive to the rim and shoot some 3s. Basically he can create offense for others, create offense for himself or finish well off passes from others. Randle is the perfect fit for a team that moves the ball, runs, is athletic and creates turnovers.
    In fact, it should be easier for him this season because Mikal Bridges will draw defenders and OG Anunoby and Donte DiVincenzo can shoot 3s which can spread the floor and make it easier for Randle and others to drive to the rim. (That's probably why the Knicks added more 3 point shooters, by the way.) Plus OG Anunoby and Josh Hart can get the team out in transition which would also make scoring easier for him. In fact, if Thibs speeds up the pace, Randle should be able to score with little effort since it will be more difficult to double team him with Mikal Bridges & Jalen Brunson waiting to catch the ball.
