Now I remember what it is. I ate it when I was a kid, haven't had it in a very long while, it grew wild climbs on to trees, dug up the roots, steam, eat, it's very hardy, stave off hunger pain for a long time. My survival food, it saved my life. Good plant to grow for emergency food supplies.
Native to the Philippines 🇵🇭 UBE is one of our traditional food we can make UBE Halaya which is dessert and UBE ice cream and also UBE mix together with halo halo.
I shall make one of the things you said sometime. I've never had it sweet.
We had those yam in Indonesia, but I don't know is that the same plant or different species, usually we just steam and eaten with grated coconut and salt
They are beautiful because they know how much love and care you showed them! 🥰 I’m absolutely in love with the Ashitaba plant you mailed me. It’s doing wonderfully. So happy I made the purchase! 💜🌱💜
You are such a good gardener. I love your enthusiasm.
It’s a beautiful plant.
Woah I had no clue that's what yam plants look like! Looks beautiful! I really like the purple yams in Hawaii. THANK YOU! :Edit I posted before I saw that it is a Uber plant so cool!
What a beautiful plant Wendi, I really enjoy your videos!
great video Wendi, I've been waiting for that one. thanks
It sure is a beauty!😍
I love UBE !
That's a beautiful plant
Super easy to grow. I love ube. ❤️

Looking beautiful 😍❤️
Are you still growing Ube? If so, how can I get some and will it grow here in Northern California?
Nice vlog friend.Thank you for sharing
Gorgeous color xo
It really is!
Really I'm very curious about ube yam ,after I'm watch you're vidio I'm realizing we had ube yam in Indonesia just we don't know the name in English, usually we steam and eat with grated coconut and salt, love from Indonesia ❤❤❤❤
New subscriber! Thank you for sharing😍God bless!
You should look into maybe getting an air potato from David the Good, make sure it's edible bulblies
wow you have purple plant version right there btw my neighbor own the green color version
What an awesome plant. Are the leaves edible also ???
Wendi, are the leaves edible? Beautiful plant.
Have you ever done any seed sprouted teas? I just found out about about about feeding plants and worms that way.
How do u like the grow bags?....yam is a beautiful plant....2 pretty 2 eat
Literally going to plant 3 1 gallon vines today.
They are beautiful! Do you sale them? I am living in Canada. I’d like to order some. I am going to plant some in my garden this year. Thank you for sharing.
Are the leaves on these edible as well? Since watching Alice on Plant Abundance cook sweet potato leaves, I've been wanting to get enough going to have the greens as well as the tubers.
Sweet potato leaves are good to eat, but not the ube leaves.
Thank you for the video! I am in the process of sprouting my own and would love to know … does the vine eventually just grab onto the trellis? Or does it need to be clipped or tied as it gets bigger?
It will grab onto whatever it touches, but you can guide it at the beginning.
Some good mulching would swell them up
When do u plant them when u see the sprouts? So the sprouts become the vines? I bought one not sure what to do next lol
Where did you find them?
How often should you water it? What is considered too hot or too cold? How much sunshine does it need???
Is that cattle panel against the wall?
What is the difference of this yam and purple yam (real ube)? I saw your other video of purple yam which is a bit different with this one. The purple yam has green vines and lighter green colour leaves. I grew up eating the purple yam, but came across this one, and for some reason when I cooked it, it won't get soften. Not sure where I did wrong.
And the music came out of nowhere ... and right on time...I started looking around like ok...and it beat out the neighbors lawnmower... haha take that neighbor and way to improvise on the video and still get the job done while making a video getting the job done. and also thank you Wendiland for consistently putting up videos...you give me hope for my channel as well...what can I say videos coming soon folks...Elliott Lew Griffin entertainment... videos coming soon folks...haha...but yes thank you Wendiland for your courage, knowledge and entertainment...but until next time folks...have a great day... Elliott😀😀😀
We're can i get some yam to grow like yours
Do you get the seeds or propagate it
Do you ever sell any ube or the aerial tubers? I need to restart mine, but unfortunately most people dont know the difference between an ube yam and a purple sweet potato.
I will make them available on Wendiland.com once I have enough to share. :D Terms in US can be confusing - yam and sweet potato..
Hi, do you sell tubers of that ube yam... I can come to San Diego.
I bought in Hawái but the color inside is white. The outside is purple color.
Hi we have ube in our shop
I really wish to have an Ube vine. But it's not native to Bangladesh 🇧🇩, so likely it's impossible to collect one.
Can you use the leaves for other purposes?
You can make as fertilizer don't make it food it's poisonous.
I had my ube for 2 years, but was afraid to dig it up too early. How can you tell there is a large enough yam to eat? Edit ( need to know for next time i can get real ube)
I’m not really experienced in ube just yet,but I think they can be harvested at any size. Longer you wait the bigger they get.
Could you export that purple yam?
I forgot to mention Ube Candy 🍬
Can you eat the leaves like sweet potato?
No unfortunately. It’s very different than sweet potatoes.
How do you get the Yam to sprout please?
Check out this episode: ua-cam.com/video/oIEn4lMgWB8/v-deo.html Hope it helps!
By the by, does anyone in your family make ube halaya with sweet coconut milk rice? That is why i was growing it. My bffs philipino mom made it for me for my birthday when i went to his house. I want to taste that again. She straight up dug everything from her garden and did it all from scratch.
I have never had it, but would love to try it. Maybe make my own. haha! You were in such a treat having it from farm to table!
@@wendiland I would definitely suggest it.
Next time..Plant it 1 1/2 meters apart..More space produce more tubers..
Thanks for the tip. Not much space here for 1.5 meter planting here, but I will try one in the ground next time.
San makakabili Ng gnyng ube mam
Can I buy yams from you?
Hi nice looking good long hair lol
Can you please make it concise... what with Americans making video... it's like watching a grandma talking or a broken records
Thanks for sharing luv janicecortez/teamlove
