    I'm 67 - my uncle was a tanker in WWII, and he would never talk about his experiences until after I was old enough to go out and have a beer or two with him. He eventually opened up and started telling me his story (something he had not spoken about with anybody else in the family, not even his own daughters). Well anyway, over the course of several weeks he told me things I never could have imagined. He, to me, didn't suffer from PTSD but dealt with his WWII experiences in his own way, and came home and got on with his life. He passed away in 1992 and it wasn't until I was sitting in the theater, viewing "Fury", that his stories hit home on me like a punch in the gut. I finally got it. I sat there, nearly dumbfounded, at what I was seeing on the screen in front of me. It was as if the writers of that movie had taken my Uncle's experiences and put them to film. It was after I got a copy of the movie and was able to watch it in my home, that I wept for him, and I still do every time I see that movie.

    Incredible to see that many restored afv's from WWII in one place. Gives you an idea of how noisy war is, even when no one is shooting at you!

    Not too many tall dudes riding in a Sherman wearing a Cavalry hat. Has to be The Chieftan.

    The radial shermans could get up to speeds of 49kmh
    And the normal FORD GAA shermans could get up to 58KMH and the multibank up to 59KMH
    But the fastest sherman is the m4a2 shermans with the amazing detroit twinset diesel they can reach 70kmh
    And i think the sherman jumbo is capable of doing 48kmh wich is very fast for a heavy sherman

    • @Tanksandmore
      @Tanksandmore  5 років тому +1

      Yes, some Sherman in this video have a 76mm.
      Also one has a 105mm and another one, a 17 pounder (77mm).

      @@Tanksandmore exually 76.2MM QF 17 POUNDER and yuo have the QF 77MM wich is a 17 pounder but then with a shorter breech Block wich allows less propellant wich makes the gun less powerfull but more stable the QF 17 POUNDER could penetrate 385MM of armour whilst the QF 77MM could penn 345MM

    The icons Tiger and King Tiger of these particular days 75 years ago are missing as the Hetzer and Panther that were kicking in these days. The Shermans and Patton came later.
    The Tiger and King Tiger made it by its overall strong reputation on the Top cause Tiger Fest is the name of the one and only Festival named after a tank, an enemys tank btw that attracts the masses.
    And these days from mid to late december were the days of these Tigers amongt the Hetzers and Panzers.
    Good celebrations

    • @Tanksandmore
      @Tanksandmore  5 років тому

      Actually, there was a Panther in the background, barely to be seen on this video ;)
      And a few hours later, a Hetzer was also to be seen: ua-cam.com/video/HmnsP0nLS08/v-deo.html&lc=UgzWBG9zLV2ODyklvDp4AaABAg ;)

      Too bad the shermans beat the Tigers and Panthers by being technicaly supirior.
      - Gyroscopic stabilisor
      - Commanders overwrite
      - Automatic fire extinguishing system for the engine
      - gunners vision slit synchronized with the gun making it possible to aim from behind cover while the entire tank was coverd by bushes/a hill
      - wett ammunition stowage
      - supirior suspension. Panther weighs 44 tons mainly because of the suspension. It is 12 tons heavyer then the M4A3 (76) and 7 tons heavyer then the M4A3E2 which has twice the armor.
      - supirior radios
      - Supirior turret traverse motor.
      The big german cats didnt kill themselves after all (well not all of them, some actualy got to the battlefield before breaking down). And there was a good reason why the allies could advance so fast. The truth is that gun and armor are not everything.
