Potentially a great big boat. But oh my gawd, American interiors. I dont know what it is. Americans simply cannot do interiors whether its cars, boats, or a mountain cabin. They just cannot convey a sense of quality or "luxury" that you would associate with the price of these things.

As the son and grandson of immigrants from Europe (Alsace, Prussia, and Poland) I'll offer the thoughts that I was raised with. The US never had palaces or cathedrals or any other grand buildings. Compare our White House, built at the cusp of the 18th and 19th Centuries with European palaces built 200-300 years earlier. Rustic, small, common. Compare a state visit of the British monarch to the White House with a state visit of our President to Buckingham Palace. Historically, we had wood, so that's the material we built with (same with ships, the US continued to build wooden ships a couple decades after Europe had moved to iron and steel). We are also an unrelentingly egalitarian society, so tacky splendor resonates with our heritage (remember, we've never had hereditary titles ... all of us are wannabes). I believe it was Winston Churchill who said something like "America and England are two nations separated by a common language". I'm too lazy to google that, so ... whatever.
