There are no major active tectonic plates slipping on each other to cause an earthquake. California has a transform boundary that causes frequent earthquakes of the NA plate and the Pacific plate, there are only faults in the northeast

@@KB-ke3fi missouris quake was bad but it was said to be a MAX of magnitude 8. those happen every few years. you aint as special as you think, and those quakes may have only been a 7. missouri, is not capable of full rupture quakes like the quest coast east coast and other subduction zones. anmd i know they act like the east coast isnt a big quake location, but there IS a subduction zone there, and it WILL go off eventually. and its capabl;e of 9s too. people shoul;d be questioning why that is not being talked about

I was told as a kid that New England doesn't have earthquake plates. Hmm. This is the 2nd one I felt in a few years apart. A 4.1 hit dartmouth Massachusetts in 2021. I was on my roof at the time repairing shingles when it hit. I had to hang on to the chimney. That was scary.

@@sonicadventure3130 an underground sinkhole or cave collapse can cause a small earthquake like that. Fracking can cause that. Being it was only 3 miles deep that probbaly was the case. Old mines or voids also a possibility.

It's not unusual if you don't ignore where the North American craton is at... It's normal that a larger would send out shockwaves along the craton's edge to there.
Dutchsinse already predicted this earthquake a week ago. The USGS tends to ignore earthquake science though so researchers like Dutchsinse are far more reliable to earthquake predictions.

Unusual? That same area just had a 2.2 a few weeks ago. 😂 Unusual. What’s unusual is that the media didn’t report the tremor that happened BEFORE the 4.8, and also neglects to mention that there’s a fault line that runs along the Appalachian mountain range, and that fault caused 550 recorded earthquakes in NY from the mid 1700’s to 2020. Where are the geologists who said that it’s only a matter of time before the mountain range becomes an active volcanic site again? Honestly, it’s like our media was bored with California’s earthquakes and jumped on this. The east coast has dealt with blizzards, bad rain storms, frickin Hurricane Sandy, major flooding, and this earthquake is the least damaging thing the east coast has seen. 🙄 I dunno, maybe I’m desensitized b/c Pennsylvania has an entire town that’s been condemned due to an underground mine fire that’s been burning for 60 years, and is estimated to continue to burn for the next 200 years (which sounds a little far-fetched, but it’s a possibility), so everything else seems small potatoes. lol!

Ya but we were told the b east coast would never get big earthquakes because we don't have plates here like California BUT within the past 3 years we've had a few. A 4.1 hit Massachusetts in 2020. I'm 41 and up until 2020 I never felt an earthquake until recently. I think God's coming. Has to be the end times
