Correction: Those are not potatoes. They are called wild yams like those grown in some Caribbean islands. They look very much like the sweet yam species in Jamaica.

Watching this young woman doing all this work is so impressive. She is very capable, smart and strong. The amount of work that she''s doing in going up the hillside, digging out those root vegetables, carrying that heavy load in the back basket down the hillside to home and then to market, which longs like a long walk, then selling and later going to chop branches & wood to take back from the hillside is such tough work that urban city dwellers aren't accustomed to. She reminds me of the type of people my grandparents, in-laws must have worked in their younger days on the plantations or farms. It's a tough life but seeing her handle it, makes me ashamed that in a typical day, she probably would work harder on that day, more than I've usually have done in my best day when I was a young person. Kudo's to her for reminding us that people still work hard like this in parts of the world and that if we live in a place that isn't like this, we shouldn't take life for granted. I hope all her hard work will one day afford her a happy and less hardship life. I pray for good fortune for her.
