Saw Henry Paul this week, 3/9/2023 in Patchougue , NY....playing with the Outlaws. You can't imagine how awesome they were... 1100 60 & 70 year old's on there feet rockin for an hour and a half...not one heart attack ..lol
Yup it was 1981 and I was 21. Worked all day then drove up and drank all the way to the show from Miami. I miss those days broke but happy. Suprised we made it home without dieing on I-95 between lack of sleep and way too much endulgance.......
My youth as a young Musician re-visited,,, i was at a mates house in Whyalla, South Australia ( shit faced i might add ) listening to over - seas radio when i first heard this band,,, went out and ordered the " Grey Ghost " album the next day !!!,,,, that was some 35 years ago now, so dam glad i did that,,,, Hell Yeah !!!
just heard this on the radio and went nuts looking it up...couldn't find it under the outlaws so callled the station up...lo and behold..henry paul....WOW...how could i have forgotten this one?????? ommg i love this music. RIP hughie.... live long and rock on henry!!
I have loved HP band since 1982, every since he broke off from the Outlaws, I loved the album Anytime. Those boys are jamming baby. This song is in my top 5.
I first saw Henry Paul when they opened for Styx at the Rutgers Athletic Center in 1979 or 1980. They were awesome. They then played a very small auditorium at Rutgers alone. Been a fan every since. One of the most underrated bands ever, for sure.
Henry Paul still plays! Saw them live last month in Clearwater. His voice or energy hasn’t changed at all, and the man is a living time capsule. Considering im 21 at least…
I saw the Henry paul band in 1979 in Talahassee. They rocked out the house. Whether with the great outlaws, his own band or Blackhawk, Henry paul does a great job.
srg Brings back a ton of memories saw them at saint johns college in Queens N.Y. and at Detroits in Westchester Thanks for all the good times and thanks for you tube.Long Live Rock.
Never saw HPB, only saw Henry Paul when he was with the Outlaws back in the 80's. Saw them in a small ballroom at a local community college. Got to sit on the edge of the stage from the middle of the set through the encore of Green Grass. Henry Paul did this with the Outlaws and it was great. Still and always the best. Thanx for posting this. And those three people probably don't know know what great music is. The crap today is all they know.
I watched this band blow many a head-liner off the stage back in the late 70's and early 80's. They opened for The Rolling Stones at The Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Florida in 1981, and, while they didn't upstage The Stones, they did manage to kick quite a bit of ass...
Saw them open for Rossington Collins and when RCB played Freebird HP and I think Billy Crain came onstage and joined in on the jam. When HPB played Grey Ghost at the end of their set Gary and Allen came on stage and joined in.
First off, GREAT video. I have seen the current incarnation of the Outlaws a couple of times, as well as the Hughie version once. Phenomenal both times. That being said, I am 30 years old. I cut my teeth on Blackhawk. I wish Henry Paul would take to the road as the Henry Paul Band and play music from all three facets of his career.
Billy Crain and Dave Fiester just killing it on guitar, amazing excellent band pity that Henry Paul focuses only on Blackhawk and the Outlaws he should resurect the HPB as well
Never will forget seeing Henry paul in 1991 at The Tangerene Bowl in 1991 with Van Halen and the Stones as well as OutLaws at the Palace Theatre in Albany NY 1977 Rock On !
People are on here bitching but if HP doesn't keep the Outlaws name alive who will? They were never a headliner. They were never as big as Skynyrd (even though I am from the Tampa area and dig them more). I personally think he should tour as the Henry Paul Band and play Outlaws, HPB, and Blackhawk. But oh well. That's life. I'm still going to see the Outlaws when they come around.
Henry Paul was a headliner - in his own mind, of course. The man couldn't even carry Hughie's guitarcase. I know I know, Henry did rhythm, Hughie, his 2 were kick-ass. I mean intangibles, like Hughie was Mr Outlaw, Henry was not. Henry was Mr Ego-Maniac. Did you know Hughie put that '96 Digital greatest hits cd together to help Jones' & O'Keefe's families who lost both of them the year before. What a kind act of philanthophy. Not even counting what a great guitar he played. How come Henry didn't resurrect the Outlaws in the mid-90s? Because he couldn't. But he preyed on a grieving widow about 10 yrs later to get that Outlaw name. There are ways to go do things - but very in-cool dirtbag Henry Paul, the way you came off doing it!!!
Tonka61 ...SPOT....ON Bro!!!! SPOT the #$%^ on! Saw Henry and the boys twice last month...spirit of the Outlaws is alive and well...and I'm a Tampa Bay Boy born and raised on the Outlaws!
Haven't heard of Henry in a long time, use to work at papa joes north where you played many times....often wondered what happened to the old crew...Big Stembal, little stembal, the bottle club two doors down, worked bartending there also...it's been 30 years now, and I remember the slowpoke band, with great harmonys of two brothers...reliving past moments, and now play guitar myself, been gone since 1984, but would love to jam at skipper smoke house if it's still there!?!
@obbor4 I was at that show! I remember singing all the words to this little gem, and then noticing that I was alone in a sea of people who had no idea who Henry Paul was. They were just chit-chatting until Van Halen came on. However, I must admit that Van Halen put on a hell of a show. I love the Stones, but they were definitely upstaged...especially since Mick Jagger failed to moon the crowd like Diamond Dave (as I was later told...I was en route to the bathrooms).
detroit - I was at that T-Bowl show also. It was the Stones for Tattoo You and VH in support of Diver Down. I barely remember the show so I must have had a great time. That show was my first and only effort at scalping tix. To get tix for that show you had to do it by mail and the first day was a blue ticket and the second a red ticket. Me and my friend bought two for each day. We ended up selling the red tix for $5 each.
@tieyourmotherdown1 cool, i am going to see the outlaws in a few weeks at silver springs florida, saw them many times years ago, also saw this band several times back in the day, they were awesome
Hey Wally: Your DVD is on it's way, you lucky dog living in Tennessee (where I was born and raised. As far as remembering things, I guess it just had a very big impact on me, especially being a wanna be musician and loving music the way I do.And the people were special, including you.I can remember when you and your girlfriend would come to see Dave Fiester,John,Bill (Fresh Squeezed) at the Whipping Post in Tampa, you both had matching blue jean jackets, decorated alike. Hows that? Judy
Had to add this too, Rex Ray, what ever happed to him?? I sure met a lot of people back then, great, great memories of new years eve every year in lakeland, I was lucky enough to have a backstage pass, thanks Rex if you ever read this...My name is Marcia...hope you remember you were a great friend, and lightning, did sound at papa joes...football, another friend that hung out there...just wondering where everyone is???
Hey Wally!!!!! This is Judy Lane,John Lane's wife.I had a man who nice enough to track down a copy of this DVD and make one for me and Lori Fiester.I would be more than happy to get a copy to you just let me know how. You guys were great doubt. I was just finishing up a tribute in my own way to Dave for the March Brevard Live Magazine. Hope you are doing well, are happy and we see you again, REAL soon. Austin's band broke up after 13 years. No gigs. VERY SAD. Send address. Judy
Can someone contact me and let me know where I could get the entire concert of this or any other HP band show on DVD or video? Also any live H P band on CD?
I was at that concert too, it was Henry Paul,Van Halen (their Fair warning tour) & the Stones, but you are 10 years off..the concert was in 1981, not 1991.. This was when DLR mooned the audience because the day before he was acting his usual crazy shit & the reviews that night called him an A**hole!! Mick was singing in the cherry picker and spraying the crowd w/ a hose. that was one of the 1st corporate sponsered rock shows, I think the company was "Jovan" - musk oil cologne & stuff..
was it october? don't remember, but i'll take your word...i thought it was one of the stones off tours, at least the show i was at, Mick sounded hoarse, like he was singing too much & needed a rest. VH was good, i'm glad i got to see them in their prime w/ the original line-up ... today its just a joke to me, but I can understand Eddie just wants to keep rockin out...
Wow, this is a totally different style from Blackhawk. There's no mistaking that voice, though. No offense, but I definitely prefer the country style of Blackhawk. I've never been a big fan of southern rock anyway.
Henry NEVER remember those who built his career! He's a Miracle Man at taking talent that's not quite developed (after the Outlaws let him in) and then goes on to use that talent to his name. It's really time for his sham to stop.
This is my opinion. Take it with as many grains of salt as you wish to. Henry Paul COULDN'T - I repeat - COULDN'T even carry Hughie Thomasson's guitar case. Or Billy Joneses' either. Back in the day, I mean. The man is a scumbag for what he did to Hughie and his widow Mary & family.

they definitely kicked ass !!!!!!!!
This man was such an underrated writer. Great son.
I can't believe this music still exists. I thought it was gone forever..like a dream that disappeared after I woke up. Thanks so much for posting it.
My youth as a young Musician re-visited,,, i was at a mates house in Whyalla, South Australia ( shit faced i might add ) listening to over - seas radio when i first heard this band,,, went out and ordered the " Grey Ghost " album the next day !!!,,,, that was some 35 years ago now, so dam glad i did that,,,, Hell Yeah !!!

fantastic to see this - one of my all time favorite songs from a tremendously underrated album and band.
Hello Elizabeth how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
I have loved HP band since 1982, every since he broke off from the Outlaws, I loved the album Anytime. Those boys are jamming baby. This song is in my top 5.
I saw them touring in support of Molly Hatchet that year. What a great show!😁
Agree 100%. Saw the Outlaws, early 80's & they were awesome, too!💗👍
Henry Paul Rocks
Warmed them up at the Forest Lodge, Warren NJ 1982 Awesome time!
billy told me this was the best concert they did back in the day
Saw them in concert back stage at the Agora ballroom in Hartford CT in 81 awesome show
I first saw Henry Paul when they opened for Styx at the Rutgers Athletic Center in 1979 or 1980. They were awesome. They then played a very small auditorium at Rutgers alone. Been a fan every since. One of the most underrated bands ever, for sure.
I always loved this band ... Wally is a very underrated bassist. One of the best.
Where has kick-ass southern rock like this gone?
The country pussies took over dude
Henry Paul still plays! Saw them live last month in Clearwater. His voice or energy hasn’t changed at all, and the man is a living time capsule. Considering im 21 at least…
Like Dickey Betts himself said: It's still there, but it's in the country field. he mentioned the likes like Charlie Daniels..
They really rocked this one up.
kick-ass~this was a great band~
My favorite Southern Rock song of all time.
So long is so good.... Thanks HP.
Saw this band in Tampa 1978. I was in the Air Force at the time. Very good tour of duty! Thanks.
Henry never lost his voice 👏
Henry is great!
Amazing. Just a great song!
I was first introduced to the Henry Paul Band during a trio concert in Fla, Nazareth,..Krokus,.. and I'll never forget it!!!
I saw the Henry paul band in 1979 in Talahassee. They rocked out the house. Whether with the great outlaws, his own band or Blackhawk, Henry paul does a great job.

Excellent band and a really good group of people.
This song rules
Henry Paul a real accomplished songwriter. Besides I'm really fond of his singing..
Fun fact: On Oct 24 and 25 1981 in Orlando these guys opened for the Rolling Stones (along with Van Halen.)
First off, GREAT video. I have seen the current incarnation of the Outlaws a couple of times, as well as the Hughie version once. Phenomenal both times. That being said, I am 30 years old. When I was Growing Up, Henry Paul was the Lead Singer of BLACKHAWK
One of my favorite songs ever❤
I did the same thing. What a great song !!!!!

Totally agree with you Pete.
This is on the outlaws new album i don't get it is that why everybody hates Henry Paul i think he rocks
Cool ass RNR!!!!
Now Billy has had to leave the Outlaws due to health problems. Billy's brother Tommy of the Charlie Daniels Band passed away in 2011.

well said my friend...but we know!
Anyone know what kind of guitar Henry is playing?
@dirtworshiper i saw that show in orlando, in my opinion hp band stole the show, remember billy crain wore a tampa bay rowdies t-shirt
What kind of guitar is Henry playing? Never seen one like it.
Looks like an Ovation...but i could be wrong
Ovation Adamas. It had a carbon poly top. They stopped making them in 1991 or so. The Elite has the same design, it just has (usually) a spruce top.
Them 2 'lectric guitarists seem to be on speed.
So talented and under rated!
Can someone contact me and let me know where I could get the entire concert of this or any other HP band show on DVD or video? Also any live H P band on CD?
it seems impossible to find....Get the records and find someone to burn them on to a disc......
