Totally agree. His mental makeup and unequaled competitiveness are what separates him on the court. His off the court business acumen and lifestyle choices are a major part people don’t talk about enough. He has arguably been one of the most famous people in the world for almost 40 yrs and has represented himself very well.

@@latoijasnodgrass Kobe was great. He was not MJ, though. And he even stated that on The Last Dance saying what you saw from him (Kobe) is thanks for MJ because tailored his game after MJ. “You don’t get what I did without MJ,” Kobe said.
He said MJ guided him and mentored him.

@@latoijasnodgrass Being better is not an opinion, its something a player earns. I liked Kobe too, but facts are facts. MJ was the more talented player on offense and defense, and the better leader. There's a reason why Kobe looked up to MJ.

It's clear Michael Jordan had a huge impact in the league. The man literally competed on every level. We as fans got to see his improvement from year to year. There wasn't one aspect of his game he didn't work on. He used his ability to get better as a way to compete.Jordan's the most respected in the league because he torched his opponents and gave every new guy entering the league the business. Players literally talk about this guy still 20 years later. He's the only player I've witnessed who never had to say how great he was because his peer group solidified that by declaring him to be the best ever to play the game of basketball. By Jordan being as competitive as he was he was able to raise the bar of excellence for players to go out there and compete every single night. He and and his team made every regular game seem interesting and well anticipated. He was a 14 year all-star.Won 2 dunk contest.Became rookie of the year. Had 2nd highest scoring average and most points scored in a season. Was 1 of 5 players ever to be Defensive player and the mvp in the same year. In all six title games MJ won finals mvp. In 3rd championship run Mike had a 41 point scoring average against Phoenix suns. After the Lakers ended the drought by winning back to back championships and Detroit following after. Michael Jordan and the Bulls capped all of those wins by winning 3 back to back championships. And then did it again 2 years later after Houstan Rockets championship run of back to back tites. When it came to winning titles. In the finals series he and the Chicago Bulls never had to worry about going to game 7 because they won all their titles in 6.Mike truly is the Goat with a shoe that sells out every time it hits the store. Kids that have never seen him play still wear his kicks 21 years later after him retiring. He's the only to retire and the year he joins Washington ticket and Jerseys sales improve by a thousand percent. MJ at 48 showed he could still play by torching his own practice squad in charlotte .And at 50 he still could dunk. The man is and will always be a giant amongst men.

Jordan is and will most likely always be the GOAT. No one gave him any titles or furnished him with a superlative or over-the-top nicknames before MJ forged his own path. He had to earn every thing in a time where there wasn't PR teams building your brand or acting as your hypeman or colluding with ths press to contruct your narratives. MJ is MJ because he played like he always had a chip on his shoulder (which drove him to greatness) and had the toughest mental constitution and iron will to drive himself and his teammates to things of legends.
