Hi Chris,me again.I use a Guideline short. Versifitip on my Scandi rods,so not a lot of line left on the water when the main line is near my rod tip but not onto the rod.So not much line to lift into a Single Spey,Snake Roll or the Circle C cast that you like. The lines are expensive but you also get a few tips with the kit.Mine are still in good condition after 5 years of use.(Sport Fish sell them) HA HA cheers and tight lines.
HAHAHA Sport Fish, well maybe I will check out Fishing Megastore. Okay, I see, I will take a look at them but will definitely look to work my fly more in the water on my next adventure! thanks, Chris
Hi there, the Yellow eyes are Jungle Cock ,found on most Salmon flies.Didn’t Ken the wee flee, the tube fly may be a Cascade type ?Can I please suggest you work your flies, especially in the pools (imagine fishing a spinner) and also rotate your body more upstream when doing a single spey cast as you were doing on the fast streamy stretch of water.Really enjoying your fishing experience’s and yes RANT away pal,it’s your hard earned cash, cheers and tight lines.
Thanks Andrew, that is very useful. I am using a shooting head so had only been retrieving up until the head meets the running line, should I be pulling past that so that the shooting head is on the rod? Noted on the Spey cast, I have used the Circle C in 90% of my fishing so far, and the single and double spey really needs some work - thanks for the tips, much appreciated. Thanks for your support - Chris!
Hi Tomos, no I don't tape the spey rod anymore because after a couple of weeks of the rod being up and taped I found it almost impossible to break the rod down afterwards despite removing all the tape. Hope that helps
Catching trout when youre targetting salmon is like doggies when youre after rays. 99% of the time 99% of us would be delighted to catch a trout, but when theyre just getting in the way theyre a damn nuisance
Classic wye fishing. Happy to take £60-£100 but can’t maintain their banks or huts! I can get 4 miles of pristine beat on the findhorn for £40! Got my money back last time, what a joke
Thanks Liam, I have learned a tremendous amount about the both the Wye & Usk on this trip, not much of it good. I am so disappointed by the attitude of both the riparian owners and the Wye & Usk Foundation - probably won't be back on either in a hurry! Thanks for taking time to join me in my rant :) and for supporting me, much appreciated! Chris
@@tastefulnude The car parking area I found extremely difficult to find because I didn't follow the road far enough. I can't remember the name of the town on the directions, but when you follow it you'll need to go further along the road There is a sharp left hand turn and on the right are 3 gates and one of them has the fishery name on it - after that it's pretty easy going. Please let me know how you get on - TIGHTLINES!!

Hi Chris, made a mistake it’s Rio Scandi Short Versi tip line not Guidelines,ok cheers.
Ah okay, I am using Rio Scandi Shooting Head
and a Rio Slickshooter Running Line 115ft. I will look at the short versi tip options - thanks
Hi Chris, do you tape the joints of your double hander? There’s so much conflicting advice online!
