Proud owner of 5 pieces from G&L, four basses and one guitar, an Ascari (import) w/P90s. My first G&L was a red ASAT. What a monster bass. I imediately scoured the Net and but another. I was most recently impressed with my JB bass as right out of the box it was louder than my Fender Jazz basses. I credit the G&L designed pickups. But my latest addition came directly from the factory, an Imported Fallout bass. This one and the JB are my current gigging pair. Thank you for making such awesome instruments.
In 1980, I bought a blonde/natural G&L F100 Series II from a music store named Frontier Music on Tustin Ave. in the city of Orange, which is situated very close to Fullerton. One of the employees of Frontier Music was also holding down a job at G&L, and this guy came through the door of the music store carrying two G&L guitars. I was there looking at Stratocasters, and the man invited me over to the counter to take a look at the G&Ls. He told me that he brought these two guitars back to the store with him to see how they would do for sale and that these two guitars were the first two G&L guitars to be sold. I loved the natural one, and I bought it on the spot.
That's awesome that you mentioned Memo! I bought a Fullerton Deluxe Comanche a few years back and was having all kinds of tuning issues. I took it in to Memo (I 've lived in Fullerton all my life) and he spent a month on it and when I got it back...it was incredible! My 1990 Les Paul Standard was always my favorite guitar but thanks to him,,,my G&L in now my favorite! They didn't charge me a dime either! Killer customer service!
I visited the factory in May this year… it is a magical place. I can attest that G&L instruments are hand made and top notch; I just received my Custom Shop L-1000 and it is a dream.
I have three currently, early 80' Skyhawk. 90's ASAT and my current fave the Solamonte super lightweight. Just had Joe Glaser install his b-bender, it gets played a lot!
I hope we get a video about the ASAT Deluxe carved top! It’s a gorgeous instrument and I played a preowned one a few weeks ago and it sounds incredible!!
🍃🌴🎼📝🎙️🎸🎚️📻🎙️🐦🔥That’s a lot of history and passion to pass on and put in the hands of a guitar player new or old. It goes to show you that there is a lot of souls behind a guitar other than the player.💥👌😎🎸 I love the Tribute Series ASAT, Comanche and Blues Boy🦎🐊🎼🌴🌊🍃
A rare video of Dave McClaren actually in the production facility. Of course it was just to make yet another of his videos. That aside I do enjoy my G&L guitars and basses. I've owned six in total and currently have four. Kiloton and M2000 bases. I've also owned an L2500. ASAT Special and Comanche guitars plus a previous ASAT Special. I wanted one of those ever since I picked up the first one back in the 1980s and I love it. I'm a long time Tele player and it's nice to have both of Leo's visions for one. My basses are outstanding and have all but replaced my Fender basses. So despite my ribbing of Dave you can see that I'm a very loyal supporter of the brand.
I bought my G 200 (rear loaded) in about '87. At that time super strats were very popluar but I didn't care. I loved the wood and how the G&L sounded. One look and it was easy to see the quality. I geuss the story is that Leo didn't like that model because it reminded him of Les Pauls?
Their wood selection is really poor. I've never before consistently come across so many "heavy weight" guitars from a US guitar builder. Sure there's light G&Ls out there but good luck finding one. The two post proprietary bridge is also not the amazing piece of manufacturing and design they claim it to be. I found them to be just as if not less stable than a gotoh 510. They're stuck in the past drawing from a well of inspiration that had gone dry before the 1970s.
@@ac30lifestyle Some of the earlier G&L guitars had bodies made of soft maple and they had a reputation as heavy guitars. I don't know about 1988 but ask the seller to weigh it. The Jumbo MFD pickups are very tele-ish with a little more output, midrange and clarity.
I own 7 G&L’s and they are my favorite instruments.

Proud owner of two of your fabulous guitars, a Fullerton Comanche and custom Asat Special.
I love every G&L and Music Man and Sterling product I have!!!!!

Amazing
Will need another G&L for sure

I don’t usually take videos of me doing stuff each day in my factory. It’s not a reality show 😃 though that idea was pitched to me like 10 years ago.
Proud owner of 3 G&L Guitars. 2 x Custom Build Asat Classics & 1 x Semi hoIIow Asat Bluesboy (tribute). Great guitars. 👍🏻
These videos are as awesome as your instruments.
Proud owner of 3 G&L Guitars, and 1 G&L Bass 🙂
Great video!
I own a CLF L-2000 and a Fallout bass. I am completely satisfied with both. Thanks!
I have 2 G&L s and love them.....but where the hell can I get a pickguard for an Indoneasian ASAT Classic ???
Question: I'm looking to replace the pickguard on one of my Legacys. What is the difference between a pre 2017 pickguard and a post 2017 pickguard?
Before then Paul 0:00 Chandler made them for us. Check out their website pickguardheaven.com for cool options

All the greatness at the factory yet can even resolve manufacturing defects on guitars that your customers outside of US bought.
Wish I could visit. Love my semi hollow ASAT Classic, which has cured the need for other gear. Do you guys need an accountant 😅
❤
Love seeing BTS. Thanks Mr McLaren

I really appreciate your comment here. I have my eye on a 1988 ASAT. Looks heavy. Does it sound like a tele?

@@tiki_trash thanks for your input. It's been useful
@@ac30lifestyle Seriously, if you like teles and you can get a hold of a Leo era ASAT for a good deal, buy it.
