When one plays this from the book of Studies, it looks so simple on the page. When I hear this exquisite rendition, I realize how a master plays it and how a master wrote it.
@@floyddangoand what's wrong with that? Art also has to give you something to eat and to live with dignity, it is like any profession, if you are a professional, you have the right to receive a salary according to your abilities.
it's true, no-one was criticising it. It was her intention, because she is promoting classical guitar to sell her book. Some say 'flamenco' came from 'fala mengo' or singing pauper! Tarrega started out earning money in piano bars and went to live with some gypsy guitarists too - flamenco players. I have a lot of respect for buskers, so long as they can ALMOST reproduce what she does. There need to be more classical guitar players too.@@TruthTeller-y2z
Wonderful performance Alexandra. I love the feeling you transmit when playing. Something similar happened to me when I heard the study interpreted by Atahualpa Yupanqui
This is the piece that taught me the difference between the rest stroke and the free stroke. Easy to learn but difficult to play at the level of Miss Alexandra!
This is a finely'paced interpretation of one of Sor's most atmospheric pieces. I would like to hear more articulation of the melodic line, and a bigger contrast of mood in the repat of B, but generally this is one of the better readings of this bijou of the guitar
Wow-so incredible beautifully played! ❤ You moved me to tears-really you are playing so touching! Wonderful! Thanks for giving me these moments! I love it❤😊
Alexandra, you should do Sor's Estudio 6 (Segovia fingering) or Opus 35, No. 17 in D-Major. I've played this to where it's like "I've heard it too many times". The D-major study by Sor is just as simple but almost perfect in its application of harmony, melody, etc.
For the second time already I was too late for your broadcasting. Sorry. 🙈🙈 I like this study, it sounds so wonderful and you look like an angel. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Perhaps a rest stroke on the melody would 'warm' it up a bit. Even Beethoven would have a little romanticism to it. I like it when this piece is allowed to breathe a bit. But hey, just my opinion.

Probably not your intention, but you inspire some of us to learn how to play classical guitar with perfectly done performances such as this one.
Her publishing her book along with these videos thats probably precisely her intention, next to financials I assume.

So wonderful, such a wonderful tone. Not too slow. Just sublime.

My favourite rendition of this piece. I had never noticed before so well all the nuances and subtleties of this melody..
Thank God people still want to study and play these beautiful songs.
Sor + Whittingham = Emotionally sublime music!
I admire your wonderful and sensitive play. You are one of the best, world wide !🍀☀
Beautiful performance.
This is the piece that taught me the difference between the rest stroke and the free stroke.
Easy to learn but difficult to play at the level of Miss Alexandra!
A classic! Great performance.
One of my favorites, this study.
I'm learning this piece I think this version is the best I've heard in terms of emotion and sound quality
This is such a beautiful and sensitively portrayed performance.
Your playing stirs my soul and gladdens my spirit. Thank you.

Beautiful Alexandra. You and Stephanie Jones must rank as two of the best classical guitarists in the world today.
This was beautifully played. Thank you
You are One With The Guitar.
Your touch is so deliberate yet delicate in making the strings sing.

So beautiful. I could listen to this all day
God i like watching, listening to you play, such warmth, emotion, respect for the pieces you play.
Outstanding performance. Sor was a genius composer for the guitar. Alexandra Whittingham is an exceptional guitar player.
Beautiful melody, beautiful Alexandra. ❤
Divinely dark, sweetly somber with an alluded mood. A serenade so serene!
Самое время для вечернего релакса! Степенное и неторопливое исполнение - отличный настрой на отдых и обдумывание планов на будущий (завтрашний) день.
Soul-stirring. Beautiful!
I’ve practiced alongside this video more than once. I like the emphasis you hold on that first note of each measure. Dynamics!
Also on the 3rd note of the measure, which seems to emphasize the melody nicely.
Outstanding performance Alexandra
Beautiful, sensitive performance.
