Sorry Simon, you’re wrong about this one.
Virtually every IPA in supermarkets now are rubbish. Have a nasty cheap cordial taste.
This one doesn’t. Other than it being a bit thin this could be bottle shop standard. They’ve also used Simcoe and Mosaic which isn’t usually the case for supermarket beers. I usually wouldn’t even bother buying IPAs from supermarkets but I got a couple of the new 440ml Sierra Nevada pale ale cans so added this and another one for the 4 for 3 offer without expecting anything and was really surprised.
Kinda think you might be a bit jaded from all the beers you’ve had that have been rubbish and had the mindset that you were going to dislike it straight away? You didn’t have too many tastes of it in fairness.
Also, Love and Hate is absolutely terrible these days. Had it a couple of weeks ago and it was awful.

Love and Hate still available in Tesco - I buy a couple of cans most weekends. I really enjoy this beer. I do really enjoy Vocation beers on the whole though. Brewed not far from me in Hebden Bridge.

Im having one of these right now. (One of the beers my parents got me for my birthday)
It is RIDICULOUSLY sluggable and refreshing for a 6.7% beer. Almost scary, i could slam down a good few of these in the sun no problem😳

As a small business owner I empathise with the brewer's position. If you get a big order and it's a significant chunk of your yearly revenue then you have to make it. I'd see it as a necessary evil: you create a 6/10 product because it keeps you afloat and it gives you the room to make the 9/10 product which you have a real passion for.

dear Vocation, please re-issue Aoraki and get them back on the tesco shelves! that was a banger.
I'm glad they kept the Roll With It, I like that one for its lemon'y taste, great in the summer.
as for Doppelganger, not an offensive beer but not amazing either. it's a straight down the middle 5/10

Yes! Aoraki is probably my favourite of these NEIPAs. Had to resort to buying a job-lot of their site as Tesco stopped selling them 4 for 3.

Smash and grab was another cracking DIPA from them! Profit over quality sadly.

Hazy golden with a head. Tropical fruit and pine heavy aroma and taste with a good body given its strength. Citrus provides a mid citric bitterness. Doppelgänger, beer that not stand out of crowd, supermarket standard of the day. Lovely but boring, I want something new, exciting, different style mayby. Cheers!

Yep they all seem to taste the same. I’m in total agreement with you on your opinion about the majority of canned supermarket IPAs. On the subject of Brewdog: rewind back 10 or so years ago and the craft beers that they were brewing were out of this world, sadly not so today. Gone are the days of Tactical Nuclear Penguin and Sink the Bismarck and End of Days..I was fortunate enough to try the two former beers but not the latter and strongest of the three. Punk IPA was originally at 6% abv and hopped using Chinook, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Nelson Sauvan, Amarillo and Cascade-which resulted in a far superior version of the current Punk IPA that’s brewed by them today. Punk IPA original would blow it away both in aroma and depth of taste..Tactical Nuclear Penguin started out as an Imperial stout, aged in whiskey barrels and ice distilled, It weighed in at massive 32% abv. It was a dark caramel colour if my memory serves me well. Released in small batches in kegs and in dark glass bottles, which came wrapped in a single white sheet of paper on which was stamped a small penguin motif. Tactical Nuclear Penguin along with Sink The Bismarck, which had an even higher abv, were both on tap at the Manchester bar in 2011 for £5.00 a shot..or £50.00 if you wanted to buy a bottle. Many a Saturday afternoons was spent in the company of mates and pints of Punk IPA original abv with a Penguin chaser, which would send many punters sideways on leaving the bar for the toilets. They were good old days before Brewdog lost their way. It’s sad in a way that younger generations of craft ale drinkers will never get to try such fine craft ales brewed by Brewdog when they were at their best. Fond memories.

Stop buying the shit Simon and get to the bottle shops! Don't give your money to these people. We need to see it crumble and if we buy it, it'll endure.

Lower alcohol tax! We could thrive! I think this was a nice session ipa for a hot day, definitely better than the piss brewdog and gamma ray. On the up I say but I agree hence my comment the solution comes in sorting the tax!

It stops being craft beer when they go into supermarkets . I think We all start on supermarket ipa’s when we want something new and exciting compared to the crap lagers on the shelves . For example I’ve had beers from verdant, state of kind,CLAG and rivington tonight and theyve all been very different

Simon please keep up these reviews, but people please stop buying this supermarket rubbish and head to your local bottleshop instead. This rubbish isn’t going to stop being sold to us until people stop buying it and there’s no market for it anymore.

It looks like the supermarkets, probably led by Tesco have found a recipe that is fairly pleasant, but of course there is no innovation!
I remember in the early days of craft Tesco and Morrisons had about 50 cans, loads of different styles!

The brewers are simply following the money & feeding the market demand now. Very predictable tbh & shows how the supermarket craft fad has panned out. Boring & samey !

Tried it whilst watching this video ( i know...at 10 am). I agree with everything you say about this beer. Again, its very drinkable, and slightly more drying on the back end than some, i could have 2 of these, rather than one of the bast majority of NEIPA's.
