Looking at the design, I worry a bit about weight distribution. I love the idea, but shouldn’t the extra stand be attached to the largest leg for the most stability?

I think they left the big leg for the sand bag.
Weight distribution was absolutely fine in all cases I tried. As you can see I put 4x4 frame easy.
