My high school would put on a skit during Friday mass of the Our Lady of Guadalupe story. They attached blue strips of fabric to two industrial fans and turned them on to produce the ethereal effects around Our Lady. I always liked it.
Where are Libby and Kai!?! You've just rocked my world! But I guess we've just started a new Church year, so I the timing of new hosts make sense. I'll definitely miss Libby and Kai - hope you are both well. Welcome Nick and Gabby!
Kai and Libby will always be treasured members of the Catholic Central family, but life has taken each of them on other adventures. Their episodes will remain on our Catholic Central website and UA-cam pages but we now welcome Nick and Gabby to the CC desk.
Given that the hosts were being changed for this series, it would have been nice to have at least one person of colour as host. I'm sure these two are fine people and will do a great job but Catholic Central lost an opportunity. Sort of ironic when the first episode is a they do is about an apparition of Mary as an Indigenous woman! I do love the series just would love to see the diversity of our Church reflected. The students I use the series with are 90% POC.
Hi Eileen Cervi, we appreciate your comments and please know that diversity has always been a priority for us and we had an open call audition for the positions with that in mind. As we move forward in this and our other work, we will continue to work towards that goal.
Virgin Mary whom she considers a virgin even after the birth of Jesus. How could Mary still be a virgin when the Bible explains that her virginity was limited to the time before the birth of Christ? "But he did not know her until she gave birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus" (Matthew 1:25).
Catholic theologians argue that the use of "until" in this context is not conclusive evidence that Mary's virginity ceased after the birth of Jesus. Similar language is used in other parts of the Bible, where "until" does not imply a change afterward. For example, in 2 Samuel 6:23, it is said that Michal, the daughter of Saul, had no children "until the day of her death," but this does not imply she had children after her death.
Happy Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception! I love these!

Mary is dressed like a Jewish maiden with an Aztec black sash representing pregnancy. OL of Guadalupe has green eyes, a mestiza.
