I learn a lot from your tutorials, gracias.
Even if it was small, it would be great to have the reference photo or your previous painting, on the screen as you draw. I love your instruction.
Hi Dottie, thanks so much! I would say that it is always best to paint from watercolor paintings,... and in many cases I am doing that myself. So in essence you are seeing the photo :0)

@@cpetri766 no matter how many mediums I try, I always come back to LOVING watercolor! We retired 3 yrs ago to East Texas, The Piney Woods and there are so many beautiful scenes. Thanks again for your tutorials! I hope I never stop learning!
Hi Chris. Beautiful work! Subscribed. I've mostly been doing my watercolors with pan paints and not tubed. Love the intensity you get with the moist paint. Although I've read that my favorite watercolorists, Homer, Sargent, used pan paints as well, I'm considering trying the tubes. But I'd imagine it would get quite expensive using them in this fashion. I also like using acrylic paint in a more water color style. Your technique reminds of that a lot. Have you tried that? Thanks!
Thanks Andy, much appreciated! I don’t use acrylic paints much, Tube paint Makes it easy to get great color and tone! If you can get the good color you are looking for with pan paint then you are good to go👍😎
Thanks Sandy I don’t really paint with acrylics too much however I have tried them and they are fun. I also think using pan paint can work for you if you get the color you want. 👍😎
@@cpetri766 thanks Chris. Your name sounds Greek. If you are, evharisto and yasou!
Hello and merci from Avignon 😊
Hello Didier! Thanks from New Jersey! :0)
Excellent..
style, like impressionist.. good colors schemes..
Thanks for watching Vishwesh! I will have a lot more videos on the way! :0)
Excellent!
Chris after you complete appointing, to keep your colors in the palette from drying out do you spray and then place a paper towel over paint before closing the lid, also I keep using too much water . Help! Thank you for your videos.
Yes! 👍😎✅
Great tutorial! I have not used a bamboo pen for ink and was wondering how those worked in actual use with ink. They make some nice dry marks. I am curious about what book you were using for the reference photo.
Hi Paul, your welcome and thanks! I try not mention books I use in my videos since it could cause copyright issues. Many books specific to watercolor I sought out and purchased were from Charles Reid's bibliographies in all of his his teaching books. Keep up the great work and Happy Painting!
Chris: Thanks for this tutorial. It's beautiful and inspiring! Question: Can I use a black Unipen permanent marker for the shadowing?
Hi John, your very welcome! Sure, I think any permanent pens will work really well! I usually make note for myself if a certain brand or type does not work well,..eg.. smudge and smear with water etc.... Thanks for watching!
@@cpetri766 Thanks for the quick response. I have everything sketched and ready to add shadows!
Great video Chris. Must apologise, I sent a Xmas card today but it seems I’ve missed the postage date for the USA so it’ll probably turn up late. I was waiting for them to come back from the printers. Anyway Merry Christmas.
Hi Brian, thanks so much! You are really awesome! Thanks again and Merry Christmas!
what type/brand of ink are you using?
Hi, I'm using speedball super black India ink, Happy Painting! :0)
You know just how to tweek it. And when to quit. Tfs.
Thanks for the kind compliments Mary! Hope your art is going well,... Happy Painting to you!
