I've said it before, but I have to say it again. I'm a HUGE fan of this prosecutor. He's comfortable and has an easy confidence with the witnesses, the jurors, the judge, and his fellow attorneys. And he's one of the few attorneys I've seen who gives an engaging opening/closing argument without going over the top with theatrics. Note to self: Never commit a crime in Lee County.

Cops did an unbelievable job in gathering all the relevant evidence. The prosecutors were thoroughly professional in articulating the whole story from ground up!!!

So many times the families will just never accept the truly horrific nature of their relative. They refuse to believe it, regardless of the evidence that makes it obvious. “NOPE, I just can’t believe it no matter what you show me, and I’m standing behind him”!

I always thought he was guilty, but putting my personal opinion aside, I'd imagine it's pretty nerve wracking to even be on trial for murder, guilty or not, & that alone could make him nervously drink water.

But another possible reason is medication-many medications, including some of the most common anti-depressants, cause dry mouth. Hence, u drink a lot of water. Wouldn’t surprise me if he was put on an anti-depressant. So, could be anxiety, meds, guilty conscience or all the above.
I believe Mark thought the evidence all showed Curtis and jimmy did this and that he would walk. For me the most damning thing in this case is the fact that Mark and jimmy DID kill Teresa. They had no reason, no motive to just decide to go all the way to Florida and kill her not even taking anything for the house. So the fact Curtis did this proves to me Mark asked him.

I’m in Canada, and if I’m not mistaken I think that our lawyers are actually required to perform prosecution for the Crown( our version of the “State”) I’m not sure if the USA has a similar program.

I was thinking the same. It's strange also because the defense attorney asked Wright on cross something about him and Mark having some sort of a sexual interest in each other. The prosecution made an objection on that and it didn't go further but then it suprised me that he mentioned it in closing, repeating it as though to imply that Wright would have done it for Mark because there was something in between them

If i were his attorney i'd advise him not to. The prosecution's case was ridiculous, and at that time testifying could only make things worse. What they didn't count on was to have some angry people on the jury... perhaps they used UA-cam commenters as their jury pool.

Compared to the Jimmy Rodgers trial, the prosecutor now constantly repeats: “witness that is not paid”, “not a co defendant that may have a motive to lie”... He is trying to prevent that the jury starts doubting the witnesses. Something that was an issue in the rodgers trial. This closing is way better than the one of the rodgers trial.
