I looked at my screen very confused for a moment before he corrected to toque 😂 kept trying to imagine how wearing an entire toboggan on your head is a subtle thing
To be fair, I feel like they probably grew up hearing it. I grew up in a part of the States nearby the Boys (tm) and my dad always called it a "sock toboggan." No, I don't know why.
@@thatawesomegeekykid Apparently in the south (particularly N.C.) they call them toboggans. I did not grow up with a word for this, but I certainly prefer toque to toboggan.
A coworker of mine bought our whole team baseball caps with "Shitshow Crew" emblazoned on them. I wore mine, backwards, that whole day in the office without incident. Perhaps you could buy your team matching hats - then wearing them counts as a team building exercise.
toboggan noun to·bog·gan tə-ˈbä-gən 1: a long flat-bottomed light sled made usually of thin boards curved up at one end with usually low handrails at the sides 2: a downward course or a sharp decline 3: chiefly Southern US and Midland US : STOCKING CAP
It’s not a toque, it would be made with the SAME MATERIAL AS A BASEBALL CAP- no fur, no wool, no fleece, yes the *technical definition of a toque is exactly what griffin is defining here,* BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT, the Chode ball cap is made to reflect the make up of a baseball cap; I.e. the little knob on top, the stiff brim (shortened), some type of canvas or sports-wear material, the little ventilation holes on top, etc etc. IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE A SUBSTITUTE FOR A DIFFERENT HAT, if he meant Toque he would’ve said it.
I got told out by my boss once for wearing a cap to a job in a chem lab where nobody ever came, and where there was apparently, no dress code. Hated the job. Got fired eventually.
Genuine answer: one day come in very close to your scheduled clock-in time (NOT LATE! You don’t wanna seem irresponsible but let’s say you’re cutting it so close) while wearing an outfit that’s obviously your everyday clothes. It includes a hat. Then hurriedly change in the washroom and when you come out, you’re entirely in your workwear except for your hat. See if they counter you or mention it. If they do, you can pretend like you’ve forgotten in the scramble to get ready and clock in.
I’m still in with chodeball hat. I’m thinking the brim should be 1” wide and 1” thick. Kinda like a slice of plywood just above your brow. Also, thanks for the goofs!
Its so random that they posted this clip and I was just listening to this episode yesterday lol. Like I was going back relistening to some because I'm caught up and this was playing while I was in the shower 😅
This feels similar to the time a question asker was taking paperclips or other office supplies from work and Griffin was interrogating the idea that there was anything wrong with that. (Does anyone know what episode that was? I heard it once and haven't been able to find it again.)
Now whenever I see one of those too keen lycra cyclist dudes wearing one of those weird tight peaked caps, I am going to call it a Chodeball cap in my head.
Holy fuck, they're talking about the little hat bill on a baseball hat as I am wearing my favorite beanie that has a lil' bill that I use to block the sun (for my generation, think of Common, he wore these a lot like a decade ago.). I'm NOT a Chode! lol

I’d like someone to do a compilation of the times Griffin advocated dismantling the system.
If I may speak on behalf of my fellow Canadians: we're proud of Griffin for saying toque, but it was a bumby tobaggan ride getting there

@@LJTravis95 i can confirm this. my dad is clint-age and appalachian and he has many weird names for that kind of hat and toboggan is one of them.
they're basically describing a cycling cap which is indeed pregnant with chode energy.
did you have to say pregnant
Congrats, this may be the worst phrase in existence! 🎉
Yes! Exactly what I was thinking. Minus the pregnant energy.
It is indeed the gateway drug to a turbo sombrero.
I find the room that Travis is in to be baffling
It's just sound insulation, pretty big standard for recording booths

The fact this didn't end with chode ball caps available now is very dissapointing
I love how Travis’s hair matches his sound foam

It’s fairly common for people in the midwest to call a beanie/stocking hat a toboggan. He’s not talking about the sled for people confused haha
Yes, Griffin, you should wear a toboggan on your head
Wait now I can’t think of the correct word, oh no, help
You’re all looking absolutely fabulous
Wearing a toboggan as a hat is not a minor escalation of workplace acceptable headwear, Griffin.

By saying “he’s basically just describing this kind of hat” COMPLETELY TAKES AWAY FROM THE POINT OF THE JOKE, AND MAKES YOU MISS THE POINT ENTIRELY

Cant wait for the new national chodeball league.
I swear I've seen baseball hats with a tiny beak on them. I know there's a beanie with like a 1 inch bill though
I know someone who wears what's basically a baseball cap with no brim.
We DO like it.
sooo does the release of this clip mean we have skme new merch coming up soon 👀
How are there no artist's imaginings of a chodeball cap yet in the comments? I gotta see this lid-tech
I checked the merch store just to see if they made this hat 🧢

*A toboggan*?? 😂
