I'm pretty sure Bob's personality and love for gun battles got him selected more than anything. They knew he was dead serious and trusted him. 31:49 You know he would've never laid down his weapon and surrendered to that.
Gotta love Bob! Legend!
Bob is such a great guy. I love listening to his interviews.
It seems like the only thing that gives this guy pause is admitting how easy he found selection. What a beast!
I dont know how I missed your channel out standing interview Iam now subscriber
Thank you! I don't advertise so help spread the word!
It’s a magnificent event when the duel is huge
Exactly... Training for probabilities not possibilities...
I love listening to this Spec Ops legend. Great interview!
He's got a great story. Thanks for checking out the show!
would be nice to ask him about modern CAG and how they compare to gwot CAG. what changes etc..
He went through the Army pipeline that I and most infantry guys wants. But don't get that chance. From light Infantry, Ranger, Green Beret and Delta Force.
Hell yea haha litteraly
Most guys get the chance. You and most infantry guys didn’t try hard enough
@@An_Enraged_Pig not necessarily. A lot this is the correct timing. Especially, if you didn't know about these schools before joining the army. There is only a few slots available per year.
Happy to say FO schoolhouse still trains map only. 1 and 2 point resection and a land nav course. My class was 2019 though so dont know if anything changed.
I think they'll always teach the basics
Getting a little grey in the beard Bob. Lol. One of America’s all time great warriors
He's definitely earned those greys!
Great interview, Bob is always good value
@@nickjohnson710 thanks for checking it out!
Afghan kabobs can be the best in the world. Can also be vile. Same with the bread. Many times 7-8:00 they’re pulling first bread out of tandoor underground ovens they’d give us as many as we wanted. Delicious fresh bread. Then they would throw other loaves on ground in the dirt and moon-dust. Come 11:00 or so they’ve got 100 or so loaves in pile with flies all over them and dust from few dozen MRAPs and other vehicles that drove by. Gather them up under their arms and head over to Afghan Army base next door. Throw them in dirt again in half a dozen spots. Others would bring pots of stews and every body digs in. With their hands into pots. No spoons. No ladles. Passed on those. Hygiene not good but always willing to feed you. Bob and SF guys get stuck sometimes having to dine with locals or embarrass them and lose face. Heard some real tales about stuff like cat and snake soup in SE Asia place. Yum yumm. Lol
I served 3 years as an 11 bravo 06-09 . I didn't get to deploy. The first unit was standing up, so 18 months there was no deployment. Second unit I git out b4 they deployment because of injury. My team hit a ied killing 3 of my guys on that deployment. So everything happens for a reason.
Bobs the 1st soldier to evr say what Ive said alot, it kinda sucks in a way they we train ANYONE as it may come back to bite us! n it has.....
I wish he would've asked Bob what his top three favorite gunfights were. You know something that I've come to appreciate about the Marine Corps is exactly that ridiculous adherence to military decorum. As long as it is done lighthearted it creates an environment in which expectations are always known. I remember reading about 2 Marines that were captured and held prisoner for a long time during the GWOT in Iraq. Forgot for exactly how long. Upon making it back to friendlies a First Sergeant tore into them for not having a haircut and for not shaving lololol 😂😂😂. Sounds ridiculous but it brought the the two Marines who were traumatized back to the world. Of course when the fuckery is for real it really does suck. Thanks for the awesome podcasts brother.
this man is a beast. alpha warrior..
Do they have instructors on staff in case they need some tips/ brushing up of fundamentals/ watch for errors creeping in ?
It wouldn't surprise me if Bob counted coup downrange, rumour has it Chuck Norris has a poster of Bob Keller in his gym #americanbadass
I would think golfing has some transferable skills. Good hand eye coordination, attention to detail, mental toughness. That would be interesting to explore.
Definitely has comparable characteristics to marksmanship
@@FormerActionGuys I’m old and suck at golf, but love to do it. The guys that are really good at it are just special.
We had rifle teams in high school around here. Not air rifle either.
I think the ROTC team used air rifles when I lived in Tennessee
My ex wife was top shooter in high school...but her dad was all military champion also
@@corywatterson7560 vood coaching definitely helps
Infantrymen don't get to do our job until deployed
29:20 what am I missing? Doesn’t like training brits or Aussies . Delta was literally formed after the regiment…?
I think his mindset is that the American military shouldn't divulge their operational secrets to anyone. Even if they're allies.
Keller actually finds hot singles in his area
😂
