- Among the many of family owned farm equipment manufacturers around the world, one name still harkens back to one of the darker moments in human history. Established in 1907 by Karl Mengele, Karl Mengele and Sons became one of the most successful farm equipment manufacturers in Europe.
However there is a shadow upon this company as one of the afore mentioned sons was none other than infamous war criminal Joseph Mengele. Dubbed the “Angel of Death” for his atrocities in World War II, the Nazi officer escaped to South America follow the German Defeat where he later died.
The blemish upon the company name notwithstanding, the equipment manufacturer entered the U.S. in 1973 with the joint distribution company of Krone-Mengele Niemeyer, or KMN. Following a number of hardships, the company was eventually sold to Lely in 2010, before taken over by AGCO in 201

I have never agreed with this concept many people around the world have, whereby the "family" is assigned responsibility and culpability for what one family member did. Is Josef Mengele's son Rolf (who is now passed on) responsible for the sins of his father? No way!
This company and the Mengele family should be left alone to live in peace. It was Herr Doctor Josef Mengele who was at Auschwitz, not them!

Karl Mengele, Josef Mengeles father and founder of Mengele and sons, Directly contributed to the Nazi party during there rise to power, Josef's crimes are infinitely more heinous but Karl absolutely contributed to the continuance of the movement prior to the start of the war.

I agree the farm equipment company is not responsible for Mengele's deeds during the war. However, it is believed Mengele drew on his family wealth in order to finance his flight and pretty comfortable lifestyle in South America, and as this family wealth derived from the farm machinery company, there is an odour about it all.

Mengele were always farm equipment manufacturers owned by karl mengele.
He had a son called Joseph.
He carried out experiments on prisoners in concentration camps,some really gruesome stuff.
As the tide was turning in the war he moved to south america.
He actually drowned in the finish if i remember correctly.
Mengele merged with krone and neymeir at one point im almost sure.
Lely bought them out in the finsh

Mengele harvesters were way ahead of anything the competition had to offer at the time. I've run Mengele trailed harvesters for years and have a Lely which is identical to a Sh40n Mengele.
I remember in the 90s, that was a mighty machine compared to anything else
@morganoflahertymachineryofirel yes there was nothing to even compare to Mengele. Their design and engineering was top class, everything so well thought out that servicing and repairs is very straightforward.

@@ares657-ni2sh nothing like a Taarup 10x only that it uses a flywheel. It's actually identical to a Mengele SH40n, even built in the former Mengele factory

We had 2 mengele’s in the late 80’s early 90’s a sf300 and then a mammut 6300 . They were bomb proof. Case IH re badged started selling them in 1996

Extremely, there is a Mengele 6000 in vilentia Island in South kerry and one somewhere in North Kerry. WW Doherty in tralee and Limerick were agents in the 90s
German engineering was tops for a long time.
And probably still are . I would say they were the first in space
Looks a tidy example, ideal machine for someone starting out contracting, not wild big not expensive in comparison to new machines and ya can take the spanner to it yourself without a laptop telling you what parts gone
