Vasko. Your review is great, is just that the lens with IS and the camera ibis is not a good match. I have seen many videos talking about the wobble effect which also showed in your demostration. The lens is great when mounted on a gimbal and for photos of course. Thanks for your video. Have a great day.
There is a wobble there for sure. It was pretty bad at first. Canon did release some firmware to improve the IBIS on the R5 and it decreased the wobble effect a bit but it still can be improved some more. It would be great if Canon would give us the ability to set the IBIS strength in a menu setting. Thanks for the comment.
Hey thanks for the question glad you liked the video. Welcome to the channel. I haven't had the chance to use that lens yet but it is on my list of lenses to rent and make a video about. From what I hear it's a really nice lens. Eventually I want to have at least one review video for every Canon RF lens.
is it true that at 15-20mm the video starts looming warped. I have a 24-70 and was thinking about getting this for the extra wider zoom. but if thats the case im not paying 2000 for lens distortion thats why i no longer use my 16mm 2.8 i bought.
Vasco great video!! You're absolutely right about the external zoom on this lens. Sigma just came out with a new 28-45mm with an internal zoom. Any thoughts on it?
If you're traveling around shooting landscapes this could be the perfect lens. It's got a nice wide field of view perfect for those wide landscape shots.
There are two main differences. The RF 16mm like most budget lenses uses plastic lens elements so a lot of the fine micro contrast details are lost. But if you're shrinking photos for use on webpages or Instagram you'll never notice. The other main difference is the corner distortion. The 15-35mm tries to correct for corner distortion optically while the 16mm does in with software often leading things being distorted. Check out the car at the bottom of the frame in the second last photo in my sample gallery. www.vaskoobscura.com/blog/canon-rf-16mm-f28-stm-sample-photos I should make a video comparing the two lenses. That would a fun video. Thanks for the question.
@@vaskoobscura_ Thanks! I recently started real estate photography. I own the RF 16 mm lens and considering whether it's worth it to upgrade to RF 15-35 mm. It would be great to see a comparison video!
I usually always have a VND on the lens when i'm filming. It's not that VND filters don't work well with wide lenses, It's that cheap VND filters cause an X pattern to appear in the sky when use turn them to a specific angle. Just don't buy the cheap stuff and you'll be fine. Or if you're worried about it use a ND filter instead of of a VND and you won't run into the issue. :)
I liked the 16 mm lens footage very good compared to the 15 35 (the edges) but.. (am a photographer not into videos) for practical use the latter is so much better and it has a range and sharpness as well.. I have managed well with 24-70 and 70-200 both 2.8 till now. Thank you for making this video, it is a big investment and I could make up my mind to make the purchase… finally.. thank you once again 🙂
You’re very welcome. Glad the video was helpful. Hope you are enjoying the lens. It fits perfectly with your 24-70 and 70-200. Thanks for the comment. Appreciated.
yaaaaa. The price is steep. Especially here in Canada with the conversion it's $4000. But on the bright side as a business owner I can save money by claiming it as a business expense so I can write off the tax I pay on it and it also depreciates over time which I can also write off. So it's not as expensive but still expensive. lol
What is the problem of covering this god damn 2cm extended barrel entirely inside the lens body is just complete mystery, especially for such an expensive lens? It's just perfect source for all sorts of dirt, dust, sand etc...
Thank you really appreciate the feedback and the share. Working hard to grow this channel with quality videos any help is always appreciated. Long term goal is to have a review video for every Canon RF lens.

Thank you.
Great review - thanks. I use this lens a lot.

Have you done a “before you buy” on the rf 14-35 f4? If not do you plan to? Thanks in advance 🤘🏼

Thanks for the comment. I've watched reviews on the 28-45 looks like a nice lens. Would love to try it out one day.
Thanks Vasko. I like your studio office setup, too!
Thank you appreciate it. Took me a long time to build it. Glad you’re enjoying the view.
Very cool video, I have my r6 M2 coming tomorrow, and I have looked at this lens for doing astrophotography would you say it would be good for that?
I would say this lens could do it but to be honest I don't shoot astrophotography so I really can't give you an informed answer.
Would you recommend this lens for travel photography or the 24-70mm? Do you think 24-70 is too zoomed for travel/landscape?
If you're traveling around shooting landscapes this could be the perfect lens. It's got a nice wide field of view perfect for those wide landscape shots.
Hi just got my r5 a quick question whats the hand+ sign mean beside of the time above the screen thanks appreciate your channel
I believe that is the stabilization icon. You have image stabilization turned on.
Hi, Vaska! How would you compare the image quality of the RF 15-35mm and RF 16 mm lenses? Is there a big difference? Thanks!

great video, watching it as I'm waiting for fedex to deliver it today
Nice hope you're enjoying the lens. It's fun to use.
Super informative review love it very much but I'm wondering if you used VNDs on it cuz I've heard VND don't work too well with wide angle lenses

Ultra Wide Zoom lens: RF10-20mm f/4L IS STM
That 10-20 is another awesome ultra-wide. Can't wait to try that lens out. Thanks for the comment.
@@vaskoobscura_ It is less forgiving. Straight and Level are really important unless you want distortion.
@@vaskoobscura_I have both. The RF 10-20mm is a challenge to use for sure, but, there is nothing else like it.
Just ordered $870 off on Willoughby’s

10000% agree with you. These lenses should be internally focusing.
Ultra smooth footage with is? Ok😅
lol. It was pretty good for not even trying to hold the camera steady. Thanks for the comment.
