    I agree completely about A Month in the Country: competently done but somehow failed to move me and I don’t know why. Glad I’m not the only one!

    Have you read The Magic Skin by Balzac? Sometimes translated as The Wild Ass's Skin. That was a good one. Also liked Eugenie Grandet and Cousin Bette. I admit that I'm a Balzac fan and not objective! Happy reading in 2025!

      Thanks for the sugggestions! I think with more time I too will become a Balzac fan. Will put allof these on my tbr. I've read Cousin Pons and that was also a bit strange.
