I knew this song before I found out that it was *the* Frida of ABBA who sings it. When I heard this was her song I was on cloud nine! I felt so proud for her. Even today this song is still the biggest international success by any of the ABBA members. But most importantly the song is still FANTASTIC.
I still think the 80'S was the most creative decade ever. The quantity and quality of music produced during that period is unparalled and not just at that but also about fashion, movies and lifestyle in general, what a time to be alive.
I remember my dad had this single on vinyl and I loooved it!! I have loved ABBA since I was a kid in the 80’s and they are a family favorite!! Frida is such a beautiful spirit and her singing just takes you to another level! My dad loved Frida he called her his girlfriend lol
Amazing. I've always liked it, at the time - 1982, 83 - it was on the radio all the time here in Brazil, it was part of a soap opera soundtrack. Frida's voice is unique. The best voice of ABBA. I imagine how wonderful it would have been if she did a duet with Freddie Mercury, another unique voice!
Musically great sounding. Frida looks good. She has a fabulous voice that surely doesn't need to be changed so it sounds very unlike her usual beautiful voice. Good beat.
Phil’s drums just pound this gem right out of the grooves. I’ve loved this song since it’s debut in 1982. Frida sang this 100% straight tone which is unlike her usual Abba technique. Great choice DR.

Phil Collins' production and drums smash this song really hard! Frida delivers this song so well, chic and rebellious. She always wanted to have a different sound comparing to ABBA. You got a new subscriber, keep going with the amazing work.
Phil Collins wrote some stories in his own book:In a way,Frida was fragile, the divorce still echoes. Once finished the album, Stig Andersson invites everyone for a dinner at his home. Without her powerful voice there would be no ABBA sound, as well as without Agnetha's angelic soprano. Those two girls are true gifts to humanity's ears!!!
Amberian Dawn from Finland did a cover of Lay All Your Love On Me on their latest album. The lead singer actually played Frida in an ABBA stage musical.
I think ABBA was a group whose talent was evenly split. There was no "Ringo Starr" in the band, so the beauty was that each member complemented each other.
Frida is absolutely WONDERFUL... And Derek looks mesmerized looking at her, bitting his lips hahahaha WE KNOW SHE IS GORGEOUS!! 🥰🥰 And i thing he has such a crush on her 🤫🤫🤭🤭don't blame him, Frida is perfect 💕
I love this song of Frida’s. I have always wondered if this song was inspired from the divorce of Benny Andersson? I have the cassette of this album. Tells you how old I am. Agnetha and Frida are the voices of ABBA. Nothing can compare to the two of their voices together. Phil Collins produced this album and you can hear him on the drums. Earth, Wind and Fire are on brass.
Thank You for reading your comments!! Evidently, ABBA's manager Stig Anderson, wasn't crazy about her solo album "Something's Going On" and wasn't crazy about Phil Collins producing it either. Stig and Phil Collins had previous dealings as Genesis had recorded their 'Duke' album at Polar Studios. They didn't get on at all and in his autobiography 'Not Dead Yet' Collins, while praising Frida, absolutely tore into Stig calling him 'an arsehole' after his (albeit drunken) reaction to the 'SGO' album. I think Stig was worried about the possible break-up of ABBA and how these solo albums might hasten that. It seems like he was insistent on having fellow Polar artist, Tomas Ledin penned songs on both this album as well as Agnetha's 'Wrap Your Arms Around Me', released the following year. He even tried to get a Benny and Bjorn song onto 'SGO', something I don't think either Phil or Frida wanted.
@@chelseacharger Sadly, Frida barely got a one page mention in Phil's book. She deserved a whole chapter in my opinion considering she was the first major star to use him as a producer!

Music video as an artform was still fairly new back then. Most of the time it was just a band standing around and singing. They were trying hard to go beyond that in the early to mid-'80s, and sometimes they tried a little too hard, as seen here. Bless their hearts.
ABBA The Articles:Story December 1982 Agnetha and Frida:"Because of ABBA,our marriages failed": Frida said in 1982 in this article:"Some time after that,I discovered that Benny had an affair with the 37-year-old TV-presenter Mona Norklit and from that time onwards he didn't come home at all anymore". @@resireg Frida did a couple of live performances of this song while on the promotion trail, notably on the 'Champs Elysee' show in October 1982. She did also sing 'Come To Me' live a couple of years later while promoting 'Shine'. I do think both she and Agnetha were a little let down by Polar, by leaving them to do it all alone. Many of their TV performances would have looked so much better with a band with them, even if the backing track was played. This song at least had a cool video, which got heavy airplay on the fledgling MTV, helping it to be a hit.
@@resireg No. Frida was asked about possibly doing a tour in 1982 but she really needed to have a couple of albums worth of good songs to justify it. In any case, both were a little drained by the ABBA years. Although being solo meant they had to handle the workload alone, it did also allow them to make their own decisions and clearly they didn't want to put themselves under such scrutiny anymore. Grace Slick once said 'All Rock and Rollers over the age of 50 look stupid and should retire'. I guess that age is even younger for Pop stars. Agnetha and Frida both, more or less, 'retired' from the business still in their 30's.
@@chelseacharger I understand that. But now all we have are their lip synching performances on TV, like "The Heat is on" by Agnetha or "There is something going on" by Frida. I understand that women have even more pressure to look sexually attractive to be popular, that is why Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, even Madonna are now redundant, while guys like Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan still fill up arenas because people go there not to listen to their music, but to see them.
The Visitors is an amazing song from ABBA, quite a departure and sounded ahead of its time, at the time. There is a killer hook in that song. Other fact, the album was the first CD available.
What’s cool about the video is that she is spying on her lover and his mistress and by the end, she is being spied on by them. They all know ‘something’s going on’. Frida is my favourite from the group. I love her warm rich sound and her feisty personality. In her two English solo albums, she went for a harder, rock sound on many of the lead tracks. One stand out ballad she did was ‘To Turn the Stone’ which may have one of the worst videos ever but the song is gorgeous. Check it out
after it was released in august 1982 i was so surprised, HOW good it was. i listened to it hundreds of times, and i loved to hear it real loud :-). sadly her solo career struggeled after that, especially on the international market. but this single did great on the charts: no.1 Switzerland, no.5 Germany, no.3 Sweden and Austria, no.13 USA, only no.43 UK. The album went to no.1 in Sweden, no.10 Austria, no.12 Germany, no.18 UK and no. 41 USA. She just had one more no.1 album in Sweden (Djupa andetag ) in 1996. please react to "Andante Andante" she sung solo in 2018 on the album "Ultimate Duets" from Arturo Sandoval.
Frida's voice made ABBA an amazing group. When I watch ABBA's videos, I also always listen to how Frida made the blending so fantastic. Her solo is great, too.

ABBA's Frida teams up with Genesis's Phil Collins. a winning combination. not only did Phil Collins provide the backing vocals for this song, he also brought his drumming as well.
The first place I ever heard this song was on AOR radio stations, which would have never played an ABBA song. The gated drum sound was Phil Collins signature sound back then. The rest of the album is good as well.

That's the great Phil Collins on drums ya'all !!! Finding some time between back to back careers of Phil Collins solo and Genesis!!! Magnificent pairing between Phil and Frida....autumn 1982

Frida embarked on a solo career in 1982 on the backdrop of The Visitors album. Phil Collins produced the album cause Frida liked his Face Value album & she wanted a Pat Benatar soft rock direction. Despite not making UK top ten, this track was very received, a lot of radio play throughout 1982/83 and Frida phrased for quite a good solo effort. But it was back to the studio again post this track to continue recording with ABBA two more singles, The Day Before You Came & Under Attack were post I Know Theres Something Going On.
I was 14 when this song came out & loved it-I wish Frida had had more success here solo, she had the potential for it. This video is how I learned which singer was which on my ABBA Gold album-I'd never seen any live performances, interviews or anything. I never heard any of Agnetha's solo songs. I still can't tell the guys apart unless they're paired up with their respective partners in a video like Knowing Me, Knowing You. #lol
I think you make a valid point about the video being primarily concerned with the lyrics, at maybe a sacrifice of the overall "feel" of the song. In the early 80s there were a lot of music video directors who were trying to get a storyline feel, or to reinforce the lyrical themes of the song, for a more "short film" style. What I've always loved about this video are the interiors, especially of Frida's "bedroom." I read somewhere that the production designer was so intent on getting a specific look that he went to Germany to get tabletop accessories that hadn't been released in the UK yet (Frida had just moved to London at this point.) If you are interested in what Agnetha was doing during this period, she was completing her first post-ABBA solo album, Wrap Your Arms Around Me, with Mike Chapman at the helm (Blondie's Heart of Glass.) Her promo videos from that album were absolute trash, but certain TV performances are worth viewing as a time capsule. ua-cam.com/video/VB1oDZOmuB4/v-deo.html
This is an edited version of the full song on the album, the guitar solo on the full version is so hot, the song on a whole sounds better and plays out more naturally.
I think I was 13 when this was released.... I think we had just received MTV in our area. Not all cable companies subscribed to it because it was so new. Hell cable was new. That sounds so funny now.... but we did have SOLID GOLD and all the artist were on that show. Oh BTW I will be 50 in August☹😝😭😨
She definitely should continue her solo career all acros the 80's and 90's. At least all of ABBA members came back tohether in 2021. Did you hear their new songs?
This was the song and album after ABBA disband...her solo album same album name and single released..even they are not in group but she still sound as Abba in a solo track...#WelcomeBackABBA #ABBAisBack Phil Collins produced this Album 💖💙💛😁🤗😄🤩
Check out the Frida youtube vid = ''The sun will shine again'' [Germany 2004]. I want this played at my funeral. When you hear it, you will know what I mean. It's emotional and uplifting.
hey Dereck you need to check out Frida's 1975 covers album. "Fernando" is way better that than the ABBA cover (yes, cover) version. And David Lynch totally missed out when not including "som en sparv" on the Twin Peaks soundtrack. It's either that, or they totally ripped it off with "nightinggale". And then there's the dramatic beauty of "ett liv i solen". Did I mention that it is also the very best album cover of OF ALL TIME? Check it out. So sexually suggestive while being very artistic and deeper than the first glance might suggest.

Try listening to Threnedy which is also found that album.
''Threnody'' was good too.
#lol
The power of a Phil Collins production.
Agnetha also had a solo career. Check out "Wrap Your Arms Around Me" and "Once Burned Twice Shy"
But her major solo career was before Abba, in the 60s and early 70s (partly during Abba as well).
And The heat is on..
The video is exactly the song.
Another great abba song is my love my life.
You should react to the SWEDISH Album by Annifrida,,,, LOVE FROM SWEDEN 🇸🇪
Giorgio Moroder (the father of disco) wrote a beautiful song on this album called "To Turn The Stone", originally intended for Donna Summer.
Phil Collins on drums!
And Production. And vocals.
When I first saw this video I was so happy. I had thought she's aged so much! Now I look and see perfection. All a matter of perspective.
This is an edited version of the full song on the album, the guitar solo on the full version is so hot, the song on a whole sounds better and plays out more naturally.
This song is really cool ,specially with the heavy metal guitar :-) It suits perfect.
That classic Phil Collins drum song made this song even better.
You remind me of Billy Crystal, as your natural self, and I LOVE it x
Please react to Fridas Även En Blomma! It’s a very good, for me the best, song from her! It’s in Swedish but please try it!
I have the cd and the video to this song is amazing,
Love that song and a great video to it I always love this song it didn't make it too much for her though which I was really disappointed
This was a big hit in Spain. The only hit by an ABBA member apart from ABBA.
She definitely should continue her solo career all acros the 80's and 90's. At least all of ABBA members came back tohether in 2021. Did you hear their new songs?
Please give Frida's single "shine" a listen :) it's so great
Another great song from Frida`s solo career is Även en blumma.
Here`s the link:

wow!!!!
This was the song and album after ABBA disband...her solo album same album name and single released..even they are not in group but she still sound as Abba in a solo track...#WelcomeBackABBA
#ABBAisBack
Phil Collins produced this Album 💖💙💛😁🤗😄🤩
She also had a big hit in the UK called - To turn the stone, appreciate it if you reacted to it thanks
There's a longer album version. Surprising how she and Agnetha didn't have more solo success.
I am surprised too, their solo albums were if not ABBA good, but still good, it's just that they were released at unsuitable time for such a style.
...You'd like Roxette (the late Marie Fredriksson), too...try "It Must Have Been Love", for example...and Heart (Ann and Nancy Wilson), "Alone"...
Why do I get the impression it would have been rated higher had Agnetha done it?
Check out the Frida youtube vid = ''The sun will shine again'' [Germany 2004]. I want this played at my funeral. When you hear it, you will know what I mean. It's emotional and uplifting.
If you like to hear a very special song of ABBA try „The Visitors“
I am a huge ABBA fan, and The Visitors us my absolute favorite song by Abba! Nice to hear someone else appreciate it.
This was a big hit for her in the 80's believe it or not .
hey Dereck you need to check out Frida's 1975 covers album.
Voice perfect , écoute le titre to turn the stone
THE FULL ALBUM IS GREAT BECAUSE PHIL COLLINS ON THE PRODUCTION, DRUMS
DARYL STUERMER WAS HERE (guitarist since 1978 with Genesis and since 1980 with Phil)
Mo foster bassist with Phil in 1981 82
PETER ROBINSON (Brand x jazz rock fusion with Collins)
This song is autobiographical. This is about when Benny cheated on Frida.
