Mama bear here and I am so incredibly grateful for all the love and support y’all have shown for my baby girl! So proud of you Adriana for sharing your truth and letting the world know God is there in the highs and lows and he has a plan for you and all of us. Social media always shows us the best but you were brave enough to show the reality of the low points in life and most importantly to let anyone going through this know they are not alone and will get through this ❤️

Sororities are filled with shallow girls who aren’t as creative, talented and special as your kid. She dodged a bullet, there are better more inclusive, interesting people she will meet because she won’t be wasting her time and money on this shallow bunch of women who are all exactly the same. It’s time to shine and be unique

I’m honestly so proud of you for sticking with your gut and not settling for a house that doesn’t feel like home. I know it can be so disappointing to not get the sorority you wanted but at the end of the day, everything happens for a reason. Even as an active member, formal recruitment is so so hard to navigate. I’ve had girls who are now my sisters be dropped during formal recruitment but they were offered snap bids or rushed during the spring and eventually ended up where they were supposed to be! There’s always hope, just stay strong, and I so appreciate you being candid because a lot of girls have this same experience during rush and it’s important to remember you’re not alone 💕

I rushed in 2000 (old lady alert!) and went with a house that I wasn't 1,000% in love with. One really hard year later (and a lot time and money) I dropped. This stranger on the internet is proud of you for trusting your gut. 💜 Sending a big hug!

I rushed in 2002 (ancient) and had a similar experience. I dropped and as someone who is about to turn 40, never think about it or look back. My career is everything, and I made great friendships in college without a sorority. You will do great!

I’m so sorry you didn’t match with a house you loved -I know how disheartening that can be. I didn’t get my first semester, but I went out the following year again and matched with my top house. I promise it doesn’t mean they don’t like you … the process for ranking on the sororities side is just as brutal, and we never enjoy it. We literally would have to cut girls we loved just because we were only allowed to invite a specific number, and then after main recruitment was over, we would pray they didn’t go somewhere else and hunt them down for COB. I completely understand if it’s too stressful to do again - but COB is WAY less stressful. Love to you girly 🤍

Any sorority that would drop you is completely crazy. You seem like such a sweet and open person, not to mention gorgeous, talented, and with great style. I am old, so I have some perspective. I promise you that things will work out for you. Thinking of you, and I'm proud of you!

Hey girl! I’m an Alpha Xi at GSU right now, and recruitment is really hard! I’m so sorry how it ended for you, I can tell you it’s nothing against you as a person because I can already tell what a beautiful person you are! I really recommend going through COB or if your school as spring recruitment, it’s so much less draining and much more fun. Again I’m so sorry, but you are an amazing person and you will find where you’re supposed to be, whether it’s with Greek life or not!

I went thru recruitment in 2008. (I’m old AF) I went to a small school and there were 4 houses. I remind the heartache I felt when getting dropped from 2 houses and one of the 2 left I knew I couldn’t join that chapter. Thank you for sharing your experience wishing you an amazing college experience!!

Hey girl, I know not everyone feels this way, but Greek life is not the end all be all! College is so much more than that! Your life is just beginning. I got the house I absolutely did not want and it was never a pleasant experience while I was in it, but I choose to remember the fun times in college that have nothing to do with my experience in Greek life. I know you’ll have some great memories to look back on!

I got all the way through pref with my top pick and then got a bid from someone else. I reluctantly accepted and then ended up leaving halfway through bid day bc i realized everyone else was happy to be there and i was just bummed i wasnt at the other house. A few days later i called and asked if i could give it another try, and they graciously let me come back. I ended up dropping after a couple semesters. They were great people and a good sorority...it just wasnt right for me. You made the right decision.

Omg I’m so sorry dude. Recruitment is so hard and it really drains you. If you’re school does COB in the spring I seriously can’t recommend it enough. Sometimes it just comes down to who you ended up talking to. The way they pair is mostly based on major and random stuff from your app. There are probably so many girls in these chapters you could’ve meshed some well with but just didn’t get a chance to talk to and maybe you could in the spring. If this is something you really want, don’t give up!!!

Don't let it get you down girl this happened all of the time at my school during formal recruitment the computer system is really strange sometimes there were times that we wanted a girl they wanted us but didn't come back for pref if there is an informal recruitment in the spring and you still are interested I definitely recommend trying that out ❤️

Hey babe! Theta phi alpha alum here. I know the feeling of being dropped from your top houses. Everything happens for a reason. I know it’s a crappy statement but it does. There is still recruitment during the semester and in the spring if you still have time. You can always still be friends with them outside of sorority life. You’re beautiful and it’s going to be okay.

If you weren’t a freshman then your likelihood of getting the most popular houses (Phi Mu & AOPi) were slim to none. They don’t need to take upperclassmen because they can fill up each pledge class with freshmen that will pay dues for all four years. Sucks but somebody needs to let non freshman know that it is HARD to get a competitive bid unless you were already friends with chapter girls and they were pulling for your from the inside. I think you said you were a Junior/Senior which is even worse, sophomore is hard but Jr/Sr just isn’t going to happen.

It’s heart breaking how happy and excited you were at the beginning and then how upset and sad you were at the end. Rush can be a really hard and exhausting process, both physically and emotionally. I went through it last year and I got dropped from 4 out of the 7 sororities at my university after just one day. I was really upset and sad feeling like I did or said something wrong. It really affected my self-esteem and ruined the rest of rush for me. Just keep your hopes up. Check if the sororities at your university will do Continuous Open Bidding (COB) next Spring. If you follow their instagrams they should post when and if they will. It’s a less formal process and the girls really get to know you better. So many girls go through formal rush and it can be very competitive and I don’t think all the sororities really get to know you as a person. Sometimes by doing COB you can get into the sororities you feel at home with. There is always next year as well, you can try re-rushing. Wishing you the best ❤️❤️❤️

You did what I should have done. Got stuck w the only house that I didn’t want/didn’t mesh with and got peer pressured into joining. Long story short, my freshman year was not what I wanted it to be and I dropped.

Recruitment week is extremely draining. I had girls in my group as a gamma chi that had similar experiences. I do want you to know that sometimes houses have girls they like dropped and they don’t even realize it. I LOVED a girl who was dropped once. I wanted her as my little love level. The whole computer system can mess things up sometimes and you have no idea how much that sorority liked you that did drop you. At slu a few sororities do snap bids and/or spring recruitment. If there was a house or a few you loved, express that to girls in the house. I myself actually went through recruitment twice, and in the end, I did get the house I wanted. I know how upsetting it can be getting dropped by any house at all. Don’t take it personal and if there are houses you’d be happy in (sounds like 3/5 of them you would be happy in), I would just keep your ears open for future recruitment opportunities in a more casual setting like spring. Every sorority at some point picked girls up in the spring when I was there. (Usually 1-3 houses during a single spring semester but by the time four years were up every house recruited in spring at some point). You seem like a great girl, and I really thought you’d be matched in one of the houses you liked. Greek life isn’t everything of course and you’ll enjoy slu without it, but I wouldn’t lose hope even though this time didn’t end happy if it’s an experience you’d like to have.

She's not a freshman. The goals is to get girls who will be in the house and pay dues 4 years. The houses know there are wonderful juniors/ seniors, yet it is not in the best interest of the house long term to take juniors/seniors.

Just wanted to tell you, ITS NOT YOU!!! The whole process is super crazy and complicated and unfortunately girls get dropped when they would fit perfectly in the organization! There so much that gets taken into account such as GPAs, Quota, and just the process of picking and choosing. It’s hard but i promise you’d you have a home that is perfect for you and they’re waiting for you!!!🤍🤍

the right house is out there for you. you can always informally rush the house that you wanted if they offer that. i know i don’t know you but if you need anything please reach out. i dropped my sorority so i feel the pain of not being able to do things now. you will get through this. 🫶🏼
