Thank you for the post. When Fiat returned, it came with stunning looks and engineering from Mars! I have watered my mouth a lot: front grills, engine layout and fitments under the hood, instrument cluster & if I am not wrong a chequered print for the fabric & the way Fiat was written on the badge (italicised and letters equidistant in separate blocks). Never was able to get one, and was not encouraged as well. Our neighbor had one and it’s service was done at Tcr TVS. I remember him literally commenting ഈ വണ്ടി വാങ്ങി (ഞാൻ) “പെട്രാ” because it remained at the TVS ASS along the Kochi-Mannuthy bypass for about a month since it’s serpentine or timing belt (don’t know whether it was a chain) required a replacement within a few months of usage. Vivek’s take on the name reminded me of my neighbour’s predicament.
We had a blue Fiat Siena diesel from 98-2000... What a revelation of a car it was after using Amby, Tempo Trax and finally Tata Sumo... Thank you guys for bringing back so much memories...😊♥️

I owned a Opel Corsa swing 1.6 L which was bought in late 2001. Later in 2003 opel launched a smaller version of swing called sail. That is what ur talking about. Inference from Internet is also wrong. Opel sail is falsely represented as Swing. Swing a good car to drive with good suspension and road manners and very good stability. But poor rear space and Ergonomics. Poor mileage too for the 1.6 L petrol. Engine refinement not good as well.
I had a Siena weekend for almost five years . Did almost 200000 kms with it . Was one of the best cars I ever owned .. only issue was the horrendous service by TVS . Excellent performance and ride quality with acres of boot space
TVS service was pretty bad. Parts took a while to show up and no answers to follow up calls. My neighbor had his share of pain at TCR workshop (for Fiat) and me had mine getting the Peugeot engine on our old amby serviced.

What a great and fun review of the Palio Weekend (here in Europe)! Still love this car today, my parents had this car years ago. It's a beautiful, practical and perfect stationwagon!
I had a brochure of Fiat sienna when I was studying in 5th standard. I used to draw Sienna on paper by looking at that brochure. Good old days. Thanks guys for bringing back forgotten cars of India.
Fiat leaving India was a huge miss for us. They came to India and tried their luck when everyone was after mileage per litre. I think, now, the market is maturing and people have started looking beyond efficiency. We miss those beautiful machines, Fiat. I had a Palio until 2009 and my friend had a Sienna during the same time. We did some great road trips to the ghats and hill stations. I remember taking corners were "fun"... Never owned a better car !!
Thanks for bringing back memories of a bygone era. This car existed new manufacturers decided to experiment and innovate rather than follow the path made by Maruti. Very interesting car indeed. While on the way to school in the late 90s we used to regularly see a lady driven red siena TD60 near our home. Our neighbour in Cochin had a Black Palio Adventure 1.6 petrol. These are the only two cars I can recollect. Pretty certain that running examples would be extremely hard to find.
Remembering those old days... Fiat nte Experimenting era in India... Siena and petra tail lamp differences, palio adventure nte uniqueness in shape, Uno with AC..... Thank you guys for bringing back those memories. ✌️👍
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Vishnu AKA @thebigfatlazypanda, a true car enthusiast and the owner of this wagon, for believing and trusting us in detailing and protecting this beauty's factory paint. Thank you so much🙌
Glad you brought this up.. Personally, station wagons always made sense to me. I liked Octavia-COMBI a lot .. But the segment didn’t catch up over here and got discontinued sooner. Most SWs have a Low Centre of gravity + space of a mini van & drives like a compact sedan except for some tight corners and U-turns.. I settled for a Honda Mobilio Petrol, since that is the closest I could get to one. Never felt the need to take another car for Airport runs ( checked in + cabin luggage of 3-4 people).. But many Big3 models are still available in EU markets.
Remembering the advertisement tag "secure in a Siena"...that time was when saurav Ganguly was rising as a cricketer... remembering him winning a Siena as man of the series award then..

I have always considered the Renault Duster as a station wagon. Sure you can get an AWD trim, but it just has an elevated seating position, the profile looks like a station wagon, the boot space is flat and massive(with a parcel tray), the body is monocoque without almost any flex, handles just like a car.
Are there hatchbacks in the current market that would give a satisfaction similar to cars in the Palio family? The Citroen C3 have caught my attention, but I haven't driven one yet.
As usual very interesting. Everyone who loves driving must have considered Fiat at some point of time. I had booked a Punto evo in the last days of Fiat. They couldn't deliver the emotion variant and I ended up buying a Swift. Fiat had tried hard to stay relevant in India but got the basics wrong. The Punto had the worst tune of their own 1.3MJD. Even the Tata Vista had a more user friendly version of the Engine . Having said that the steering and grip of the car was on a different level altogether. Internationally too, Fiat was sinking
I had got chance to look arround of a brand new Sienna in 1996 when my GM brought it . I was wondered that the bonet was not visible.. when you sit in the drivers seat...I love fiat...
