one of the most badass lines by scar
"I'll send you to join God - No! You don't deserve to stand by God alongside my fallen brothers. Your only solace for my wrath will be damnation!"
scar is a bamf
This series is full of great lines.
raymond yongho That line stands out among one of the best though
Weiss Schnee I want to say that when I quit my job lol
"Your only solace for my wrath will be damnation" is my favorite sentence now lol
"I like your avarice kid but let's see if your heart is as big as your stomach" thus the birth of the greatest one man duo
Truly
The birth of Greed-Ling :D!! This episode is basically the mid-series finale! So many plot-lines and character arcs converging in the same place!
One of my favourite episodes tbh, always look forward to it. :)
Same here!
Although I love all the characters, GreedLing holds a special place in my heart. (also there's Troy Baker and that's great too lol)
Semblance of Sanity Woah shits it's SoS
Semblance of Sanity To think I would see Semblance of Sanity here :)
"Can you really shoot such a sad face?"
Shane: "I could"
Lmao we know Shane, we know
Lol
The introduction of one of the best characters/duos in the show. Great episode all around.
I know! Greedling is the best best.
This Greed is voiced by different actor, Troy Baker.
Christopher Skalicky is he the one voiced The Joker????
Cass Hermoso in Arkham Origins Yes, and whole lot of other characters.
Cass Hermoso also the person that voiced Batman
Christopher Skalicky yeah its a shame he stopped doing anime pain and greed were so good
Yeah the second Greed has the best voice in FMA honestly
"Your face Esplode!"
Please watch the bloopers when you finish the series.
The bloopers are freaking hilarious, and I watch them every 6 months or so to just laugh uncontrollably.
''Hey, Granda's making stew tonight!''
''FUCK YEAHHH!''
Luna Kelly I literally can’t see that clip without hearing that anymore
I just finished up a walkthrough of fmab and no joke quoted the bloopers at all the right spots. Kind of ruined some of the moments but was worth it lol
Greed the Avaricious, Wrath the Furious, Lust the Lascivious, Sloth the Indolent, Pride the Arrogant, Envy the Jealous, Gluttony the Voracious
NEXT EPISODE HAS AN AFTERCREDITS SEQUENCE. IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT
God bless Calvin. He understands everything. They would be so lost without him.
Now ,Greeling is here... Just one blonde woman is missing for my two favorite characters to be in the series :3
Ah, you must mean Sir
I hope someone makes sure they are watching the post credit scenes :)
*+Truegreen7* Don't worry, they are aware of the post-credits scenes and so far they haven't missed any.
That’s a lot of Pokémon videos O.o
Omg! Truegreen, you're here? You watch blindwave, too? Amazing :D
Whoa this is weird
This is a really big surprise lol
Hehe. They'll NEVER guess the Father-Hohenheim connection. It's the one thing in this show that's impossible to guess. (Which is what makes it so unique and awesome). It's fun watching them try though. :-)
it is totally possible, bc I guessed it. The story is based on a novel named the bottle imp by robert louis stevenson from 1900 or something. (Yes, that guy who wrote treasure island) I read the book as a kid and still have it. Well "based" is probably too much to say, but I am assured that hiromu arakawa knows that story. It came to my mind a few episodes before the backstory was finally to see in the show, idk why. But FMA is still so unique in its mixture of a great storytelling an emotions, that makes it even better :D
huh, cool :)
@@JesseblueXai that's cheating 😜
@@ThanatoselNyx xD probably
@@ThanatoselNyx okay thats funny, I am rewatching FMABrotherhood today with my new boyfriend...
Not long now until the Northern wall of Briggs
Just about 5 months, can't wait.
Antiquity LOLL
i swear it's five weeks not months....?
*+Antiquity* It's just five more weeks, but lol.
"He took away their bending" was sooooo funny. Awww.
Alchehestry and Alchemy are indeed different, Calvin is right. The show will delve into that because of course it's a big question for Ed and Al who were powerless during that episode (thus, in their head, leading to Ling being "taken over" by Greed). It's not like ATLA where the power is "within" the person, here, Alchemy is a "potential" that people need to develop by using transmutation circles (*cough* circles that are written on the ground, thus, using the power under the ground - the same ground Mai called weird and "unnatural" btw, the same ground that Lan Fan, Ling and Fu felt "wrong").
Now THAT'S a discussion. :D
I love that FMAB teases an answer you've been waiting for in front of you (showing you Father) but at the same time raising twice as many questions now that you've gotten a single answer. It's not a show that's afraid to let people wait for those answers either. And at the same time, it's not a show that's afraid to let the characters up to speed with the viewers. In many shows, the viewers will know way more than the characters, which can occasionally become frustrating as you wait for the characters to catch up. FMAB does the unexpected here, and have Ling find out about the Fuhrer being Wrath a few episodes ago, getting away with it, and telling the others. And here we have our crew meeting a Big Bad (or as Ed put it, Boss Man), having a fight, getting outclassed and being captured, and we're not even halfway through the show.
And yes, Greed is back. I think this guy is one of my favorite VAs for the entire show, his performance is always amazing. The scene with him and Ling is one of my favorites. Most things with him are "one of my favorites" tbh.
This really feels like a 'landmark' in the show, as we've now met Father, all these characters coming together, Greed "coming back", just like episode 14 also was a landmark. You can't really split FMAB up into seasons, but this definitely feels like either a season finale or a season opener in that way.
You guys have so many amazing and interesting theories, and this is definitely a show that keeps you theorizing for a long... long time. The plot is unraveling mysteries but also dumping new mysteries on top of you, and solving one is just going to lead to another. So I have a feeling these kinds of discussions will continue. :P
JojoInSpace When you love FMAB so much that you actually read this comment. All you said is true.💖
I agree that Ling is one of my favorites but I have an issue with his VA and how all the emotions in his voice seem to meld together making me feel like he never really has different moments. This works with FMA:B since Ling is a character that has the same underlying conviction behind everything but he is in almost every show licensed by Funimation so he sounds like Ling even as a first year school kid.
Alkahestry and alchemy draw their power form different things. Father blocked the source of alchemy but not alkahestry. I think that it was said but since its not that big of a spoiler so: alchemy uses the power of tectonic shifts while alkahestry uses power taken from a dragon pulse (basically the veins of the planet).
Greedling, Hohenheim, Truth... only one more character needs to arrive and all my favorites will be here.

11:36 YOUR FACE ESSPLODE
I like how Erci, being the most sentimental reactor of all you guys, seems to raise questions that are DEAD-ON with this anime. Like, he knows what question to ask that would lead to the right ending of this show.
Spoiler 30:00
Father extracted all 7 sins and made the homunculi. They each represent something he threw away from his being, so when Lust died and her stone destroyed, he had no more lust inside him to make a new one. At least that's what I understood.
The 7 Deadly Sins
Lust the Lascivious
Gluttony the Voracious
Envy the Jealous
Greed the Avaricious
Wrath the Furious
Sloth the Indolent
Pride the Arrogant
This isn't really spoiler just an explanation of the arts -- Alchemy and Alkhestry do use the same process, but they use different energy sources to start that process. Alchemy uses tectonic plate movement or the energy from the constant small earthquakes in the ground happening all the time, whereas Alkahestry uses "chi" that flows through the entire world and people which is like the energy that fuels life (this is also why Alkahestry is more medical). This is one of many aspects that shows that alchemists are more scientific and western cultured whereas alkahestrists are more spiritual and eastern cultured.
Chris Markwardt very well explained you've got my like.
If you have to use the phrase "This isn´t really a spoiler" then it is probably a spoiler.
This difference is explained in an episode further on in the show. May explains it to Dr. Marcoh while they are hiding near Briggs with Scar's Brothers' research.
It doesn't expose other things and when it is explained it's just casually mentioned -- it's just lore. I said it isn't really one because most won't consider it a spoiler but some may so that's an indicator to them to stop reading.
your explantion wasn't entirely accurate, chi is not he source of alkahestry, alkahestry uses the power released from volcanos.
Someone should mention to them that the Seven Deadly Sins aren't actually biblical in origin
Now the best half of the series begins no more messing around episodes it's a full dash to the conclusion of Father's plan.
He can't make another lust. If you take out one of your characteristics completely and then it's gone, you can't make more out of thin air. It's gone.
I love it when these guys try to figure out whats going on, sometimes they r way off & sometimes they r unknowingly right on the money. It reminds me of semblance of sanity's ideas of the my hero academia's tournament backet.
"took away theire bending" xD
he took away their bending lmao xD
FUCK YES GREEDLING!
You guys kept the excitement in me raging whenever you compared how Ling did against Bradley with how the previous Greed did and now they're in one body and the badassery will be way too real SEND HELP
Also, this is my favorite Scar scene/moment in the entire show; he displayed pure rage that will give Wrath a run for his money. Lol
Also also, my biggest gripe in this show is hearing Al's soul *panting* inside that armor when he was running with May in tow I mean IT'S A SOUL BONDED TO A SUIT OF ARMOR WHY IS IT PANTING DAMN IT DIRECTOR/VOICE ACTOR
Father and The Seven Deadly Sins From Down the Lane :D
Lol, nice KND reference
Getting only one of these a week is agony.
Father's reaction to hohenheim was Ed and Al's dad was probably the most human moment he had
I want someone to look at me the way Eric looks at Scar at 11:18 lol
Solace, wrath and damnation are words you don't get to use in the same sentence often enough
"...your only solace from my wrath will be damnation!"
*NUT*
Ling has left the game.
Greedling has entered the game.
Greed-Ling is finally he is one of top 5 character in this show
Greeling is my favourite character by far
Just to let you guys know, a huge majority of the remaining episodes will have after-credits scenes.
Ed and Al use the western Alchemy. they use the tactonic energy from the earth's rotation. Alchehistry uses a different source of energy. Scar is a special case. let's just say father blocked the connection to the tactonic energy. he doesn't know the energy source for alchehistry. that's all. you'll find out thehe rest later. the tactonic energy stuff is brought up later in the anime but it's earlier in the manga so knowing this will give you more idea about alchemy
01:30 That makes me think of Soul Eater:
A sound mind is in a sound soul and a sound body.
(Basically have a balanced life, physicaly and mentally)
I love how no matter how far they get into the series at least one person says "it can't be the exact thing it is" like they arrived at the answer and went "nah, we gotta dig deeper"
I feel like a scene in this episode really drives home Envy wanting to fuck over humans. Ed points the gun at it as a last resort, and Envy manipulates the souls inside of itself to strop him. He didn't even REMOTELY need to do that, that gun would've done next to nothing, but he REALLY likes screwing with people.
The main reason Greed didn't remember Dublith is because he had to have his memories taken. Greed was a wild card and if he remembered that he defected Father would've been back at square one with him running off and causing problems. With him being born anew he believes the way the other homunculi do and is loyal without reason. They come with personalities because they are aspects of Father, parts of HIM that he's given form.
the problem with that being Greed was never one to work under others he does things his own way.
patrick watkins Of course because that's how Father's greed just is when personified through Greed himself. But he believes that if Greed starts over fresh he won't deflect again so that's the reasoning behind why he took his memories away.
Spoilers:
Of course it doesn't work because of how greed is but that's just the premise of why Father handles him the way he does.
It's possible Father simply hoped that new Greed wouldn't defect that fast. I mean, presumably the old one worked for him for a little while, probably a few years, possibly a few decades. So close from the end game, Father probably thought "ok sure he'll defect eventually, but by that time it'll be already over".
11:09 has the best combination of voice acting, writing, and action to give me goosebumps.
It will always give me chills every time I hear it.
You will absolutely love episode 40
Absolutely loved the discussion guys
Alkahestry is different from alchemy, Mei will explain later what that difference is exactly.
Finally the best character is here😁
I'm watching the series along with these reactions, and my guess at this point is that Hoenheim and Father are brothers and are the people from the legends mentioned in Xerxes. I'm guessing that Father went west and taught the people alchemy and Hoenheim went east and taught the people alchahestry. Somehow Hoenheim ended up in the west a few hundred years later, and raised a family. I'll come back to this later and see if I was right.
Eric your reference to an ant hill gave me a Great Visual of HoenHiem! I completely agree, in HoenHiem view, he is drowning an ant hill (Aka an entire Country!) And in the destruction, reaches in and pulls out a beautiful Gem/Crystal from the heart of the ant hill. (Aka Phillsopher Stone) it makes sense how easily he can squash 'insects' without any thought
You mean Father.
lol I just rewatched the entire series in the amount of time it took for you guys to release this new episode
I like the way they theorize and got pretty nice thoughts sometimes :D
Someone needs to tell them the after credit scenes
They are aware of them. They watched the one at the end of this episode where Father took back Gluttony's stone.
Greedling! My favorite character!
Troy Baker?? The one who voices the Joker??? Greedoooooooo you're back!!
it's weird, that they were so perceptive in some instances and then so oblivious when things are stated directly.
like the fact that alkahestry was created by COMBINING alchemy with that dragonpulse-thing the xingese already practised?
it keeps happening and driving me mad watching them and thinking: oh come on they SAID it outright. no need for speculations
Scar's line of damnation is my favourite line of all time in any medium
Can someone tell me what episode is when Riza has her hair down in the military base walking down a hall? Or what episode did brotherhood did Riza 1st had her hair down?
Shane brought up a point I never thought of in the five times I've watched this series: He couldn"t bring Al back, but could he just regenerate Ed's arm and leg?
I'm guessing he wants them to stay like that since its what binds them to the truth (spoilers)
Ed losing his alchemy got him his arm and legs back since he basically cutting his line to the truth.
Ed didn't recover his leg
Oh really I assumes he did well minus the led i still assume its the connection he has to the truth.
spoliers
Ed lossing his alchemy only brought Al back. Al sending his soul to the gate got ed his arm back.
Ninjaboy I mean they were technically working here cuz of the auto mail. If he was to heal them I think he'd have to remove them
Calvin, you have great eyebrows.
Your mind is all of your memories and experiences, your soul is your being, but you can be reincarnated and it will be the same soul, without your memories (mind).
So, in this case, Al's body (behind the door) is connected to his soul (in the armor) through his mind, since both Als know who Alfonse is...
Scar doesn't do it fully so he can still use it, and the girl uses a different technique that is the same result
Greedling my favourite :D
Fun fact The Narriator is also voiced by the same person who voices' Father.
6:50 Love the reference
All animals can feel basic emotions and convey them, even to humans. If an ant will see that you are about to kill it it will try to run for its life.
Well personally I am not against killing animals since its natural but I am against things like treating them in a cruel way or hunting just for sport. Some people hunt and only kill older animals and they help with preserving their ecosystem but most are just dicks that want to show that they can do something or want to feel the thrill of the hunt. Ignoring the fact that killing an animal from a distance with a gun proves only that you can aim.
Once you guys finish this show, i sincerely recommend Fate/Zero as your next anime watch project. It´s a perfect combination of breathtaking action and story/themes that you can discuss and theoretize about.
Chris Patton who voiced Greed in the 2003 Anime voiced the first Greed.Troy Baker voiced the second which is weird because in the Manga, they`re supposed to have the same voice but Chris Patton retired from voice acting after voicing the first Greed so there wasn`t much choice but to recast and Troy Baker was originally cast as Greed in the 2003 Anime but his performance was seen as too campy for the tone that series was going for so Patton was cast instead and Baker was cast as a different villain(Lt. Col. Frank Archer)in that series.
did you know that the 2003 FMA adaptation caught up to the original manga and instead of wait for the manga to reach it's conclusion, they come up with their own conclusion. FMA Brotherhood is the adaptation that followed the original manga
That's why even though both FMA and FMA Brotherhood is a same show, they have a very very very different ending and conclusion.
seeing you guys analyzing and try figure out the mystery and stuff is kinda remind me of that fact
It was stated in an earlier episode that alchemy comes from a power within the earth, what I think of is like earth-bending from Avatar. Alcahestry is pretty much Alchemy but is used very differently in its country of origin, Xing. Scar has no knowledge of Alchemy, the power comes from his arm, literally. The tattoos are doing the work in terms of "casting" the "spell", to use simple terms. Furthermore, Father's inability to limit their Alchemy is because their sources of power are not from Amestris, the country in which the show takes place.
best character was just created!
Keep going guys, it gets even better!
if you guys want good fight choreography watch kakashi vs obito from naruto
Greeling the best! ❤
i cant wait till they get all of their questions answered :D !!
Aw man, it's going to be a long week. I want you guys to see more Greedling right now.
There are biblical conotations, on the transmutation circle from Xerxes it was written "Adonai" it is a hebrew word which means "My Lord" in the context of God
Wrath and Greed are made from humans, Envy is a weird lizard thing and Gluttony is a failed gate of truth. I don't remember Lust and Sloth and won't tell you what Pride is.
one of my favorite episodes, HELL YEAH
Greedling is the best c:
I suppose the ant remark makes more sense when you consider that Father's probably a sociopath.
How did you guys NOT know what avarice means? It's not really an old term it's just a synonym.
i think it's somewhat of a rare term, people will usually just say greed instead of avarice.
Just so you know, there are after credits scenes you guys are going to miss if you aren't paying attention.
The soul bone's connected to the mind bone, the mind bone's connected to the body bone!
Whenever I listen to you guys discuss stuff at the end of an episode(not just this series), I feel like an idiot. You guys will throw speculations out there and I'm like "Was it that obvious? I didn't have a thought anywhere near that when I first saw it."
im waiting for their reaction to the why they look alike..
One of my favorite episodes
The body is obvious. The soul is the consciousness. The mind is what stores memories. That's what I'm getting from the series anyways.
The homonculous have names and titles that refer back to its sin.
Greed The Avaricious
Gluttony The Voracious
Pride The Arrogant
Sloth The Indolent
Envy The Jealous
Wrath The Furious
Lust The Lascivious? (cant remember this last one as they under-used her in brotherhood compared to the original series).
aaaaaaa episode 40 cant wait for it
Please tell me as a bonus, you guys will be watching the bloopers from the series when the whole series is done? They are the greatest.
watch more episode a week
Calvin totally spelled that wrong , its avarice.
Good questions. But for answers you have to watch further.
you guys should have mic on the table like screen junkies or collider videos because your volume is pretty low in every videos
*Laughing maniacally* Two weeks and then ep. 30! If they're not Royai shippers after that, there is no hope for them. Wonder if they are gonna get right about her scars?
yall gonna finish this series in a year
Great reaction :)
Person: If ants could talk to you you'd consider them a lot more equal!
Godlike thing: Pfff, humans are so stupid they can't even talk to ants.
