Wish this game would just add FSR2.2 / XeSS support in a patch, without having to fiddle around with mods. Great video btw. The performance/visuals gain is a must-have.
Transparencies and particle effects fizzle out with FSR2 (difficult to see with video compression) and occlusion distortion is somewhat more pronounced than with id's own TAA technique, but detail retention and anti aliasing are excellent. If you can live with the caveats, the performance increase can be worth it.
To be fair, in the middle of combat you're probably not gonna notice the small details but you will absolutely notice the significant performance increase.
I'm using it since a couple of weeks and i noticed that the slayer model in the main menu is visibly more blurry with FSR in comparison to native (even though i'm using the quality setting of FSR). But ingame i did not notice it, since using FSR playing on 1440p with enabled raytracing on an AMD card isnt a problem anymore, even when throwing an ice bomb :D
As far as I'm aware, some people have managed to get FSR 2.0 to work on 900 series cards(even though they're not officially supported), so it's worth a try.
@@doompenguin7453 FSR2 works on anything that supports pixel shader model 5 or higher, iirc. It's "just" a compute shader. Anything that can run those can do FSR2.
This may not be related to the video but I have a question. Have the issues with DOOM Eternal been fixed on AMDVLK or does it still have rainbow liquids and non-existent arctic waters, among any other graphical bugs?
So I'm assuming this guide works if you've installed the game via protontricks, but what if it's a game that Steam Deck has installed all on it's own in game mode? How do you get regedit to come up? Sorry, I'm kinda new to the whole Linux thing.
Nevermind. Figured out that I can just manually click on Regedit and it will automatically ask me which game I want to edit the registry for with a GUI.
Can confirm that this is working. Issue with the particles (snow) is visible. Can also be seen with the particles in "The Holt". Also the ballista's energy "cords" when using the destroyer blade are pixelated. Could be that I am using FSR on a 1080 screen. Tried only the Quality preset. I've got a question tho. Seeing that the user is named Yordan, Bulgarian by any chance?
What’s the performance boost to visual downgrade ratio with FSR on my RX 580? Also, why does it not say to add that launch option in the nexus mod page? Is this only for Linux?
@@doompenguin7453 I just tried it and it only appears to give me a 10fps bonus even on performance mode, is it because I'm using on older card or something else you think?
@@doompenguin7453 Also, any idea why it makes certain surfaces "wet" looking - including the energy shield, which can downright blind me during combat?

Heyo. Could you make a video on your Arch setup? I want to know more about your fancy window managers / headers.
Long time no see bro, i missed you.
Wait so would this give me better performance on my gtx 960m???

me, watching this video on 1366x768 monitor: yeah, there is no difference at all! :)

AMDVLK is still broken, BUt RADV now outperforms it and has no issues like that.

Yes, the launch option is to get it working on Linux. The instructions on the nexus page are for Windows.

does it work on a rtx 3060?
Just use regular DLSS on the 3060, you don't need this mod.
@@doompenguin7453 but not all games have dlss?
and even on games who have it.. I dont really get how to do it ^^
I assume you're playing the native Linux version and not using proton or WINE, correct?
There is no native Linux version of DOOM Eternal, and I clearly showed that I'm using proton in the video.
put the link and launch options in description
Done.
